Its the left...it doesnt matter if its left or not they are the same structure on the left and in the right... you can tell because of the oval window always points lateral...the cochlear nerve is medial(cause it goes to your brain stem)..these are very basic anatomical structures.... If you cant tell, you need to study more. BTW he is a little monotone but a very good instructor.
You forgot to mention one important thing that anatomists tend to forget to mention, which is whether that structure is left or right. You forgot to mention one important thing that anatomists tend to forget to mention, which is whether that structure is left or right. You forgot to mention one important thing that anatomists tend to forget to mention, which is whether that structure is left or right.
@rosenwannabe by saying "lateral" or "medial" we know the orientation, which is all that is important considering this is a structure that occurs bilaterally; it doesn't matter if it is left or right.
He doesn't even say that, lol. And it does matter. Even if you know what is medial and what is lateral, you still need to know on which side it lies. If you show me a cube and tell me one side is medial, I still don't know whether the structure is left or right. It makes no difference in a cube, because it's symmetrical. The inner ear is not, hence it's important to distinguish.
The reason you do is because you already know how the human arm is oriented. So that's a really bad example. Pick up a control remote. Let's say it has 2 faces and 4 borders. If I tell you that the face which has the buttons is lateral, there are four possible orientations (2 on the left side and 2 on the right). If I add that one of the borders is superior, those options are reduced to half. Then you still need which of the remaining two borders is anterior. Get it?
@rosenwannabe I was just responding to your claim that you need 3 coordinates to identify if a given structure is left or right. You say the arm is a bad example, but it clearly negates your claim. And if you don't like the arm example, I can offer an anterior view of the the upper or lower leg or a saggital section of the brain. I could go on and on but the point is in many cases you only need to know the one anatomical viewpoint.
It looks much like a snail from one side, that is so odd! I have a thing which I recently discovered existed online called superior canal dehiscence syndrome, its strange; relaxing that side of my face make me feel offbalance, I cant brace enough....

this guy is drier than Ben Stein... I don't want to know EXACTLY what everything is called, I want to know exactly how everything WORKS.

@Stevenwilliams11 you should try a physiology video (instead of an anatomy video)

@SROD12321 Only when you give me 3 coordinates (e.g. anterior, medial and superior) am I able to figure if a given structure is left or right.
rosenwannabe 1 year ago
@rosenwannabe seriously? so if you're looking at an anterior photo of a supinated human arm you can determine if it is the left or right arm?
See my point?
