I find their story believable so far, when I was a kid I would hoard food.

It's a natural instinct to prepare for the lean times and I bet he saw some very lean times when suffering from abuse and neglect in the home of a meth addict. It's like there is a switch that gets flicked in your head telling you to never be without a source of food.

It should turn off in a situation of abundance, but it doesn't. I would just grab what I could when food was abundant and hide it somewhere.

What's the big deal over the camera in the boys bedroom? If anything it shows that she felt she needed to watch over the boys when she's not in the room. Why else would someone put a camera in the kids room? People do it every day!! We have 'nanny cams, Nursery Cams' etc. I think we need more cameras where ever there's children around!

This woman is guilty of being a bad mom and all her supporters are in collusion with her to hide their holy roller hypocrisy and free a murderer. Focus on the Family recommends Tabasco in the mouths of children as punishment? This from the FreeHannah site, mind you. What the heck is wrong with talking to your kids instead of torturing them? She's getting exactly what she deserves from her loving God though I think she should get what Andrew got. You know, old testament style.

@tartydarling what about the meth addicted mother that handed the world a child that had biological problems from her meth addiction. the doctor told the prosecutor that this was an accident and a specialist backed up what the first doctor said. I have raised children that have done exactly what this child did. It is easy to happen. when it happens you don't always know what to do. this prosecutor is a stone. this woman is not guilty of capitol murder regardless of what people say.

Maybe he took the salt by himself. Kids can be fast and sneaky when they do want to do something they know a parent doesn't want his kid to do. Maybe Hannah did simply not notice. In a household with so many kids you can't notice everything.

Have you read anything about Andrew's conditions that were undiagnosed? Several factors can speed up sodium intoxication, and ask medical experts, they will let you know that once symptoms appear.... it is to late.

Who claimed he had undiagnosed condition? Doesn't it seem convenient that a healthy child is given to a weirdo, dies of salt poisoning and then the members of her cult, sorry church, start claiming he had all these other problems?

Did you ever meet Hannah? She was a loving caring person. She and Larry adopted him to give him a good home. The adpotion agency never sent them any medical records. You say he was healthy, did you ever meet him? No.

I've seen his foster mother prior to Hannah interviewed, and read the public court transcripts. Have you or is your entire argument based on how nice your fellow cultist, I mean church member, is a "nice" person?

Lots of criminals are nice to people. Lots of people who seem like good people do horrible things. Like you ( who seems nice) blaming the child for his own death (as your church has been attempting)

Innocent until proven guilty is what our judicial system should be based on. I know nothing of their new church, I was part of the youth group they headed up at Oso Creek. I am in no way blaming the child for his own death, I don't blame anyone for his death. This was an accident.

No. It wasn't an accident as her conviction bears out. If you believe in innocent until proven guilty then Voila! she was convicted of murder already by a jury of her peers.

Tell me again how children accidentally eat salt until they die, or are you still trying to claim Zatarans did it?

Her conviction said she was guilty of cap. murder due to omission... of which 2 jurors said they were still unsecured about that wording.

Did she omit help? No... she called for help once they realized it was serious, kids throw up sometimes, they get fevers sometimes..... do you rush them to the hospital everytime? I don't.

He could have been dehydrated which could have caused him to react as he did. If he was diabetic, his blood sugar levels could go haywire when you introduce as much sodium as he may have had that day.

I don't think she is guilty of capital murder. I do believe though, that she is guilty of involuntary manslaughter. The only reason she was even given the capital murder charge was becuase he was younger than 6.

A jury of her peers convicted her and you're making up reasons to claim everyone but you is wrong. Why?

And the man in the video who claimed they just let him die and did nothing. They went to the hospital. They did something. They did not just let him die. I don't like people who say stuff that is not true.

@Hellfireblogs It's very common for children who are drug injured in the womb, after birth abused and neglected, and then placed in a new situation (especially a loving safe home) to act out in many bizarre and self injurious ways. PICA is common, as is overeating to the point of illness.

furthermore: Fecal smearing behavior coming from an older toddler is also concerning and alarming. It's very possible that Andrew got into the salt and just shoved it into his mouth as fast as he could. 23 teaspoons is the amount that the medical people say can poison a child of his size. Please do research. There is so much information available--I, and many others, believe this woman was wrongly convicted.

im originally from corpus christi (all though ive lived in missouri for 8 years) and this doesnt supprise me at all. The city of corpus christi is so corrupt and the judges and police officers are completely incompetent. I was sickened to watch this. Shame on the judge, the detectives, and the prosecuting attorney. You are in my prayers, Overton family. Maybe God will use this tragety to expose the incompetence and corruption going on in Corpus Christi to the world.

Parents coming from a position of love

The detective...suspicion

The judge...self-interest

Prosecuting attorney...blame

The jury...utmost confusion

Many bloggers...hatred

CPS...ineptness

And a country that can't win the war on drugs.

She did not have 5 children at home at the time. 4 of them happened to be with other family members. Her & Andrew stayed at home. & have you never heard of a parent taking a nap possibly at the same time as their child? That doesnt make her a killer. Any resposible parent would not allow their child to eat until they got sick. I think she was being selfish when she tried to adopt him having so many children of her own. Then when she couldn't handle the situation, she used REDICULOUS forms of punishment. This child was born of a meth-mom. How can you not know he would have bahavioral or developmental problems? He should have received special, individual attention. Hannah just did not have the patients to deal w/it.

Yes I did see the video and what I am saying is that I don't buy Hannah's story! Andrew's previous foster mother stated she had no problems with him. If the Overton's were having problems with him then how could Hannah have left him unsupervised! She had 5 children at home but she decided to take a codine pill and take a nap?! That was not very responsible. Especially, if he supposedly had an "eating disorder". Everyone has their own POV, I just call it like I see it.

Thank you so much for posting this. 20/20 did an excellent job with this story. The truth is coming forth that Hannah is innocent and that the prosecution did not actually have sufficient evidence. I pray God will bring her home soon.

But you have to realize, this was a major profile case and this Judge was up for re-election. He couldn't possibly call a mistrial at this point in his career could he? Which there was another one that came in to gather info & do their own investigation but she could not do any of her own testing. Therefore they began to build a case against the Overtons. I saw things in that courtroom that just blew me away. There were several times I thought the Judge was going to DisMiss Sandra Eastwood from the case for misconduct.  He reprimanded her so many times. (It's in the court documents) It was unreal some of the things she did & said.

Wasnt't there a witness named Dawn  who was not allowed to be in the Courtroom because she was a witness. This witness, Dawn, also refused to cooperate with law enforcement on the advice of a Free Hannah Overton church elder. Read the Lost in Lima article and pray. God Bless, In Christ

t seemed to me as if Det. Hess, Sandra Eastwood & the coroner all wanted someone to PAY for Andrew dying even though they knew nothing of his medical situation. The coroner seemed to be convinced she killed him & wouldn't even say that their were any other possibilities that could have possibly occurred. He didn't even save any evidence from Andrew that could have been re-examined by another coroner at a later time.

When you have 2 independent Doctors telling their professional opinion and neither one was allowed to testify, there is something wrong with that picture. Why weren't they allowed to testify? If the prosecution was so sure of herself, why did she keep these 2 from testifying? I saw & heard all of the evidence & testimony. I ONLY WISH THE ENTIRE NATION COULD OF SEEN IT. Maybe then people would understand what happened here.

I was in the courtroom every single day. There was NEVER ANY evidence of ANY abuse. Why do you think the Judge allowed the children to go back into the Overton's home. Why do you think Larry Overton is still allowed to be raising ALL of his children?! There were behavioral problems with Andrew that I saw personally.

Of course I am not the same Dawn that lived with them. And I know that the truth will still come out and she will be set free. The appeals process will look thru all the information and everyone will see, but it really doesn't matte what people think. What matters is what God thinks and her friends and family. So nothing anyone says about her or the situation will EVER change what WE know to be the TRUTH.

Do not believe this evil woman! This report failed to mention that she is a nurse and knew EXACTLY what would happen when she forced this poor, innocent child to drink the water and spices, then fail to get him the medical attention he needed, WITHIN THE CRITICAL TIME FRAME. Did you watch the video? I guess not! You say she was a nurse. somewhat true. She practiced for six months for a home health care. I was a frontier paramedic. we were trained to spot far more conditions than an RN (register Nurse) much less a LVN that had a very short practice in home health. We were never told about salt poisoning or the symptoms. I had not heard of it till this case came to light. Vomiting and Chills that is something you call 911 for.
