You still need Steam to play L4D2 and if you get hacked, you'll lose your ability to play just the same. But honestly, nobody just gets their accounts hacked. You'd have to be stupid enough to get duped into giving someone your password in order to lose your account most of the time.

I can only assume (hope) that the swamp's water is an unfinished effect, and will be changed to the "reflect world" water you see at the beginning of this video.
