@DragonsKing91 I was on AZ, great site! No mods other than Tein springs. I loved the car, but sold it a few months back. Gotta have a CTS-V by summer!
@RyguyCC I had no unusual expenses other than oil changes. My car was also Acura Ceritfied (go that route if u can) and I only had one warranty claim to replace a seatback panel. Other than that, nop problems.
cruising at 40 mph at almost 4k RPMS? thats like running really fast with little steps... I think if would be better if you actually use that power for acceleration, not cruising, I'm sure there's a reason for the overdrive in that car
@TrollingSince1991 I do both. Point is, I like revving, love the high rpm song of a multivalve motor. That's why I bought a car with a VTEC engine. Doesn't matter if the drivetrain is under load or not, the engine was designed for high rpm operation. At 4K rpm, I haven't even hit the second cam profile yet. Overdrive is for higher mpg...if mpg was important to me I would have bought a Prius.
Guys hes probably shifting like that just for video purposes, that or hes new to driving stick or shit maybe he just likes to be in the power rpm range
@iWarpz I've been driving manuals for 30 years..and yes, I live in the sweet part of the powerband. As I asked above...would you buy a 330 hp car and never use more than 200 hp??
I have an Acura TL, same generation. Not a Type S though. The reason I mention this, is...I don't see any reason why you are consistantly in the 3k-4k rpm range. I use to have an Inifiniti G coupe, and would rarely change gears unless it hit 3k...the reason being is that there's a sweet change in exhaust notes at 3k. I'll give the benefit of the doubt and assume something happens at 3k, because nothing happens in my TL at 3k. If not, that's just wasting gas. Either way, nice ride.
@jameschang112 I'm amazed at the number of comments I have gotten regarding my shift points in this vid..lol. The engine in this car develops max hp (286) at 7000 rpm, max torque at 5200 rpm.. The cam profile changes at 4720 rpm. (VTEC) It is DESIGNED to rev at high rpm's. Why would I buy a car with 286 hp and only use half of that power? The same theory applies to you G35 (G37?)..max power at 7000 rpm. If you shifted at 3000 rpm, why buy a 330 hp car?
@jameschang112 We have V6 engines today that produce more power than v8s produced just 10 years ago. The difference is that they are high revving, multivalve units that have no problem operating past 3000 rpms, and are in fact designed to do so. We are programmed to drive with mpg in mind and that's completely contrary to what current high performance engines are designed to do.
Lol, Dude. You are most definitely supposed to shift at around 3 k while cruising. Your wasting gas, your engine, belts, alternator, cat converter, AC compressor....
@makstone Ahaha, allrighty broo :D I mean, its not designed to float at 6K for 2+Minutes. (Like hou you do) But if you like to... Then go ahead.
I already feel bad for the person who buys that car from you. Its going to be so worn down. When your timing belt breaks at 80 thousand miles and you bend all of your valves, you will regret all of that 6K floating.
@wongmylesa Wrong again, my brotha. Honda endurance tests prototype engines at constant redline for 24 hours at a time.....long before they even see production. If you perform regular mainentce on a well built, multivalve engine (I use only Mobile1 Synthetic) revving it near redline occasionally will not cause any undue stress to the valvetrain. My timing belt will be replaced when the maintenence schedule calls for it. Btw this is my 3rd TL, not one valvetrain issue over 200K miles.
Wow I can't believe you let it get to 5rpms. I have a TL Type-s manual too, and I never go above 3rpms before shifting. My car will start to jump especially in 1st gear if i get to 4rpms. Its a waste of gas Id rather go 40 in 4th than in 2nd lol. Does your car get jumpy at all when you do that?
@AFCompany You need to get your car checked out asap! The engine redlines at 6500 rpm and the torque peak is at about 5800. It is DESIGNED to rev that high. You are not really enjoying what the car is designed to do if you are shifting at 3000 rpm all the time.
@guitarist1990 At any given time, when cruising on regular streets (not highway), your RPMs should be around 1300-2000. No reason to be above that unless you're on the highway going 80mph.
@INumba1Stunna Yep.. for some folks it's about getting 30 mpg.. for me it's about haulin ass. That's why I bought a high-revving driver's car. If I wanted high mpg I would have bought a hybrid Camry! Lol
@jay00041 not dumb bro i know exactly what I'm talking about.... who hold's 3rd at a 50 cruze??... that's all i was asking cause in my ss/tc by 30 mph i'm in 5th
@willneverstop Dude, how long have you been driving?? The engine in this car produces max torque @5000 rpm, max hp @6200 rpm. Thats why I hold gears until at least 5000 rpm. Do I REALLY need to explain this to you??
Speed limit 30.... NOPE

do you normally hang the rpms at 4-5k while regular driving?
ittotaq 5 months ago
@ittotaq Yep, sometimes higher.... thats why I drive a 6-speed manual. You must be an automatic type of guy.
makstone 5 months ago
@makstone During normal daily driving, you should not be riding your gears up to 5k RPM. That's how you waste gas, and overwork engine components.
Just because your redline is at 6500RPM, doesn't mean you should be using the entire rev range all the time.
You should be shifting around 2-2.8k RPM if you're not trying to push it.
