Have not tried this because of concerns about paint and aluminum. I wonder if the same flavor could be achieved by marinating the bird in beer for 24 hours? My BBQ Sauce for Amateurs would go nicely on this! Thanks for a great video!
@AnotherAmateur Worry no more :) There is a stainless steel device designed by BBQ master, Steven Raichlin, and available on Amazon that will take away all of your concerns. I would love to post the link but YT is preventing me. Do a search and you should have not trouble finding it. Thanks for the feedback. -Kirk
GO KIRK GO! That thermometer tip was wonderful! I would have never thought to do that outside on the grill. When you're outside you're having fun not paying attention...excellent tip!
hi kirk nice looking chicken looks yum iv never heard if it done this way i hate to ask but bieng single i dont own a bbq love bbq foos so could get a freind to try it but could i do this in an oven not a fan forced just a normal kitcen oven looks good enough to eat with bare fingers not thats too romantic haha only joking i havent had dinnew and as usual ur makin me hungry take care let me know k ttyl great idea
While people have been doing this for years, I can't say that heated painted aluminum is the best thing for you. If you have worries, certain cooking stores sell unpainted stainless steel versions.
Zombie, absolutely right about the variance in grills, as well as the usefulness of aluminum foil. In terms of the beer adding flavor to the chicken, I'm a romantic so don't spoil it for me :)
His grill has a lot of venting in the top. Many beer-can birds get burnt breasts because they collect too much heat in the top of the covered grill.
Don't be afraid to cover the top of the bird loosely with a sheet of aluminum foil, until the final browning stage. Every grill is different, of course.
I think the beer in the can for flavor is largely a hoax. I drink the beer and use water instead. Make up your own minds as far as that goes. :)
MGD rather piss on the chicken

@Candiceseesu you can absolutely do this in an oven. Set it to 350 degrees fahrenheit and you're good to go.
