  • Kick Arse! makes me want to do something more than watch you tube videos all day.

  • what can you run using this solar powered wind generator?

  • The windmill`s section alone, is 9-inches in diameter and has a height of 6-inches. It has the capability to generate enough electricity to power a 20-led lamp or a transistor radio...depending on the wind speed...Not bad for something so small...and made from recycled parts.

  • What kind/gauge of wire did you use for the coils?

  • The coils shown in this video were taken from an old computer floppy or hard drive...The wire size is #36 (or #32 ) at about two hundred turns or so....Note: a thin (.063" ) steel plate is placed on the backside of the coils...which enhances the output....All coils were wired in series and placed across its output is a fullwave bridge and a 5000uf electrolytic capacitor....

  • Nice coils! It looks like the solar cells are spinning. Do you have to run the power through slip rings?

  • The solar cells are spinning with the windmill and yes there are slip rings, The power generated from the solar cell passes through the vertical vanes which are insulated from each other and then to the slip rings. The contact resistance between the brush and the slip ring is less than an ohm...so little power is lost...

  • where do you get your earth magnets?

  • I live in Toronto Canada, so check out a science supply store such as Edmund Scientific or EfstonScience. If you still can`t find a store near you, check on the net for "Lee Valley Tools" here in Canada, hope this helps.

  • Nicely built! Thanks for magnets and coils shots.
