They were really in love in real life her death nearly drove him into despair . I suppose it show a little in the scenes of their films........were they just speaking line - we'll never know............

@HarborGuy - They weren't in love wheh they shot this picture. He thought she was a brat :) But it's fun to see, knowing that they do fall madly in love later! Such a romantic and tragic story, Clark and Carole. There is no one in today's Hollywood like them.
