This game is a joke. No AI, zero passing intelligence (everything is a slow chest pass), too easy to get steals, in my player mode the computer constantly just stands still with the ball, and lots more. This game is all graphics zero gameplay. Which shouldn't come as a surprise since it's a 2K Sports game. And nothing will change as long as idiotic people with no knowledge of a good game (much less a good basketball game) keep spending money on it
why don't these games have a story that is why i never waste my money on this and i continue to love cod modern warfare 3 that is an amazing game at least worth 60 dollar, this is worth about 5 bucks because it only lasts for five minutes. it is total bullshit i would rather buy farm folk city folk on the wii, at least that has more content and has better graphics

i have to say this sucks. speed is a joke, and size does not matter. i've posted up guards with myplayer who is 7'1" and i get blocked ALOT. every player runs at the same speed, and i make more c+ shots than i make a+ shots. there are several weird delays in the game where no one is moving and the ref holds the ball, myplayer tends to freeze alot. as a ex 2k fan, i recommend getting 2k10 or 2k11, its cheaper and less buggy, or wait for 2k13. either way dont listen to ign, they probably got payed

Fun game uin all the graphics are dreat and most if not all of the game modes are fun, but i do have a few complaints first in this game you seem to not be able to put contact on other players so they can just run right past you, and they also ruined the dunk contest... they just have to go back to the 2k10 version of the dunk contest and its good again, next of all is the dang bull crap of the shooting which is the whole (wide open A+ green) and miss, that annoys me, just my thoughts

I just purchased the game this past Monday & had to do the new training mode before I could start playing. Once I learned the controls and how to call plays etc, I learned to love it. It was difficult but that's the beauty of this game. Once you know how to play, you can really do anything you want offensively. It takes time though. I've been OWNING other players online by 20+ points a game & I've only played 10 games online. Killing these dudes who've been playing since it came out lol. GET IT.

Last year I played non stop, now with the unbalanced and cheap gameplay even with NBA accurate sliders the gameplay is still a mess. My Player Mode is damn near unplayable and let's not even discuss online. You notice there hasn't been any patches to fix these issues? 2K got there cash and said fuck you.
For me the game play is much better, I did not fully played it yet. But I hope they also fixed the rebounding problems like in 2k11 and Its good they add Steve Kerr in the commentary. (PC)
I enjoyed the game, but its not as good as 2K11. NBA's greatest is fun, but there's really no challenge to it and with no rewards, I don't have a reason to play it like I did with the Jordan Challenges. My Player is mostly the same, too. 2K11 is a wiser investment if you ask me.

I don't understand why people would think 2k11 is better.. There somewhat the same but all the NBA update stuff is really cool and tons of other amazing features that 2k11 didn't have. In 2k11 my player was a piece of shit as well, it wouldn't even give you assists at times it was stupid no doubt 2k12 is a better buy.
It's flawed, yes--like when you can't inbound the ball sometimes, no matter how many times you press the button. But you can always call time-out, at least.
The majority of players, which like 2k12 (like myself), can't do kiddie things like whine in Youtube comments, because they're too busy playing it.

This Game Cheese you in soo many ways, I was trying to close the Divisional Round in the playoffs and I was shooting 97% from the free throw line in the playoffs, I missed 2/2 with a 78% and 82% shot. There are about 5-10 more ways it cheese you, this game is about a 8,not a 9.5. IGN needs to play the game for more then 3 days before they review it.
honestly this game is trash. i laugh when people say this game is realistic. passing is just terrible. theres a delay on icon passing and someone like steve nash can't make a good pass from 5 feet away. theres too many poster dunks. people who know nothing about basketball can run around with someone like lebron and just dunk over anyone. and all players have exagerated hops.theres no consequence for double teaming or help defense cuz the defense can magically recover to the open man.
I get sooooo sick of the CPU having huge 4th quarters on just pro difficulty just so it can avoid a huge blowout... If I manage to hold a 15+ point lead into the fourth I shouldn't have to play the foul game in the final minute cuz the CPU can't miss a shot

The my player is awesome since they added it in, but eventually it becomes ridiculous how good your guy gets. Near the end of the season I was shooting 65% as a Shooting guard and had 20 straight games of scoring 40+. And in the playoffs I swept everyone, it becomes unfair because you can just max every useful stat at 99

I just hate the defense. Like really? Crossovers are useless because its like they know what your gonna do. But when their driving its so easy for them. I had an animation where i was guarding wade and i was cutting him off and he kept dribbling and running like he was on the moon. Oh i hate the up and under shots from the cpu. The paint is crowded with defenders and thats all they have to do to make it.
PATCH shooting. Too many times I miss wide open, perfect release shots, 99 3pt without a dribble pickup, while I watch as JR Smith does a turnaround bomb with tight D and makes it. I am sick of seeing Luis Scola go 13 for 14 against joke AI defense. The shot timing feedback is broken, as in fucking broken. Of spread, 10 percent make up early release, 80 perfect, and 10 late. And cash? 50k for FIFTY SKILL POINTS? Yep, lets blow 150k on 150 SP and increase my free throw rating by ONE.

This review is written for people who can spend 6 hours a day on a console. If you don't have that time, this game is pretty useless. Getting a rebound requires you to piece together 3 finishing moves from Mortal Kombat. Just go coach a basketball team. It will be much less complicated. Plus with the dumb cut scenes, load times for NBA Tonight, etc. it will make coaching a team less taxing on your time. Don't listen to this review. It's only meant for people who have A LOT of time for this game.
Terrible review. Raves on cut scenes etc before mentioning anything about gameplay.The subs interface worked well last year , but they changed it up and it requires more of my valuable time to learn it. Why change it? They failed to repair the dumb instant replay camera that puts you back into the menu if you tap a right stick (hint: good replay cameras use both sticks) and the AI is just stupid. Memo: there is this thing called a 3-second violation. Overthought game. Useless to casual gamers.

I enjoyed the game, but its not as good as 2K11. NBA's greatest is fun, but there's really no challenge to it and with no rewards, I don't have a reason to play it like I did with the Jordan Challenges. My Player is mostly the same, too. 2K11 is a wiser investment if you ask me.

Rented this game... OMG, so fucking terrible! Are you kidding me? 9.5? Lmao. The gameplay is horrendous, the graphics remind me of PS2 and online is the same laggy piece of shit. Not to mention they took away the 3 best things about last years PoS... Crew Games, My Player Pickup Games, and Dunk Contests. So horrible, fuck IGN for giving this piece of shit anything above a 6

IGN and Gameinformer gave this game a 9.5 rating, which is complete nonsense. You should also disregard the fanboy praise, they always seem to point out the fact that you shouldn't listen to negative comments even though they are indeed true. Can anybody give 10 positives about this game? What has 2K done to improve the game, besides contract negotiations (if you can play the game long enough).

I don't understand why people would think 2k11 is better.. There somewhat the same but all the NBA update stuff is really cool and tons of other amazing features that 2k11 didn't have. In 2k11 my player was a piece of shit as well, it wouldn't even give you assists at times it was stupid no doubt 2k12 is a better buy.

It's flawed, yes--like when you can't inbound the ball sometimes, no matter how many times you press the button. But you can always call time-out, at least.
The majority of players, which like 2k12 (like myself), can't do kiddie things like whine in Youtube comments, because they're too busy playing it.

This Game Cheese you in soo many ways, I was trying to close the Divisional Round in the playoffs and I was shooting 97% from the free throw line in the playoffs, I missed 2/2 with a 78% and 82% shot. There are about 5-10 more ways it cheese you, this game is about a 8,not a 9.5. IGN needs to play the game for more then 3 days before they review it.

honestly this game is trash. i laugh when people say this game is realistic. passing is just terrible. theres a delay on icon passing and someone like steve nash can't make a good pass from 5 feet away. theres too many poster dunks. people who know nothing about basketball can run around with someone like lebron and just dunk over anyone. and all players have exagerated hops.theres no consequence for double teaming or help defense cuz the defense can magically recover to the open man.

The my player is awesome since they added it in, but eventually it becomes ridiculous how good your guy gets. Near the end of the season I was shooting 65% as a Shooting guard and had 20 straight games of scoring 40+. And in the playoffs I swept everyone, it becomes unfair because you can just max every useful stat at 99

I just hate the defense. Like really? Crossovers are useless because its like they know what your gonna do. But when their driving its so easy for them. I had an animation where i was guarding wade and i was cutting him off and he kept dribbling and running like he was on the moon. Oh i hate the up and under shots from the cpu. The paint is crowded with defenders and thats all they have to do to make it.

PATCH shooting. Too many times I miss wide open, perfect release shots, 99 3pt without a dribble pickup, while I watch as JR Smith does a turnaround bomb with tight D and makes it. I am sick of seeing Luis Scola go 13 for 14 against joke AI defense. The shot timing feedback is broken, as in fucking broken. Of spread, 10 percent make up early release, 80 perfect, and 10 late. And cash? 50k for FIFTY SKILL POINTS? Yep, lets blow 150k on 150 SP and increase my free throw rating by ONE.

This review is written for people who can spend 6 hours a day on a console. If you don't have that time, this game is pretty useless. Getting a rebound requires you to piece together 3 finishing moves from Mortal Kombat. Just go coach a basketball team. It will be much less complicated. Plus with the dumb cut scenes, load times for NBA Tonight, etc. it will make coaching a team less taxing on your time. Don't listen to this review. It's only meant for people who have A LOT of time for this game.

Terrible review. Raves on cut scenes etc before mentioning anything about gameplay.The subs interface worked well last year , but they changed it up and it requires more of my valuable time to learn it. Why change it? They failed to repair the dumb instant replay camera that puts you back into the menu if you tap a right stick (hint: good replay cameras use both sticks) and the AI is just stupid. Memo: there is this thing called a 3-second violation. Overthought game. Useless to casual gamers.

I would go with Fifa but 2k12 is also a good choice. You can't really go wrong with each.
