i didin´t watch this playtrough cuz y wanted to play and finish this game by myselft. i just got the game past weekend... i´m not a fan of arcade games and i´m very used to the popular gaming FPS shit that is now days on gaming... this game definetly made me think in how rotten the industry is this days without puting a little more effort in the concept of a NEW GAME. This has got to be one of my all-time favorite game endings ever. Where he wakes up after crashing the window is the exact same place where he wakes up at the start. Limbo is supposed to be an eternal cycle, right? Wow, what an awesome, deep ending. Love it.

I also havent watched the black ops playthrough or played the whole story because i havent gotten a 360 yet but im hopping i will soon.
the only thing i wished playdead would have done different is to leave clues for the boy to find, something that could lead us in the right direction, as to what happend to him. without saying it to our face i would have liked for them to leave evidence as to what happend to him, but without any narrative. leaving out a narrative was a good decision.but leaving out a story altogether just leaves me unsatisfied, i dont feel fulfilled with the ending they gave us.
for example, water, he cant swim in it, and there are levels where you must escape rising water. the spider, he was afraid of spiders and had to defeat a big one. saws, most young kids would be afraid of a power saw since there just intimidating anyways. heights. there are a lot of high drops in the game and he was probably afraid of them. i currently havent decided about the sister yet. i believe either she passed through limbo already and is waiting for you.
@hockeysupasta4 or she is at your gravesite and your back in real life as a ghost(since she kinda feels your presence in the end but never notices you). or she is just a figment of the boy's imagination and is there to comfort him in the afterlife.
the people who hate this ending are either unimaginative or just unintelligent enough to come up with their own story and need someone to spell it out for them. the truth is is that, what YOU experience in Limbo and how you interpret it is the story. for me, i thought they died in a car crash, since there is a car on the title screen and flies flying over whats probably you and your dead sister. and the last scene it seems you break through glass like in a car crash the kid flew through the

I think phil's ending might be the right one oh and to the maplestory guy I read wikipedia to no offense but come on man really?

If anyone looks closely at the girl in the end, they can see that she is waking up, kind of startled, just like the boy in the beginning. I think she died, because like Mraajdar said, there are two corpses(as old by the flys in two different places).
Now that i think about it, the ending is pretty significant. Everybody talks about Heaven and Hell but nobody seems to pay attention to Limbo. This is what some people think Limbo is....
Phil and that girl must have ran into what can be compared to the secret areas of Portal; the area that the powerful did not want test subjects to go in for they will find a path to be free. That girl can be compared to the person that wrote "The cake is a lie"

I think that the plot is about a society or civilization that do not accept of travelers and kill those travelers by using those Glow worms as Phil calls them. Before in the game, phil saw a suicidal kill by one of the other humans there; that human had a work on his head and he drowned himself because of the acceft of the worm. in other cases, humans were dead because they were hung, speared, trapped, or blow darted. The story represents the journey through life. The platforming represents the hurdles we all must overcome. The gravity represents the ups and downs we all must face. the magnets represent the attractions we all feel. The deaths represent our inescapable deaths (and the infinite variety thereof). The glow worms represent peoples attempt to brainwash us until they see the light and change their course of thinking. The eyes represent internal illumination (enlightenment). The frog represents FROG.

There have been so many times where Phil let's out a triumphant cheer and then dies right after. That shit cracks me up so much!!! But I'm not just laughing at you. I'm also very empathetic about the situation. Throughout this journey so far, you have solved puzzles, found cleverly hidden achievements, flipped switches and jumped and swung your way through a shit ton of challenging(and sometimes extremely cheap!!!)mazes and enemies. Keep up the amazing work, sir!

Excellent playthrough DSP. Funny thing is though, when I completed the game and it got to the forest area I thought it was at the start of the game again so quit, thinking that was the end of the game. I stand corrected. : )
from what i understood is you're supposed to make up the story as you go along. Whatever you think the story is between the boy and the girl is the correct story. There is no wrong version of the story because it's your story. For the player to get out at least in terms of the story, to get out whatever they envisioned it to be. For some reason this reminds me of the orignial Nintendo's Nemo's Dream land (which was a cool NES game btw)
So after finishing the playthrough, I went ahead and read a couple of interviews with the developers. From what I can tell, all they revealed was the identity of the female character; beyond that, the plot was open to interpretation. I kind of like it that way, to be honest.

you'd see that the setting(place) in the menu and that last scene is the same at 13:25 and 14:12, except for the broken ladder and two swarms of fly hovering what i think are bodies...
this is a defining moment. DSP actually got attached to his character, because there was no real character to make fun of and to just discard with all the other characters he's played. he actually cared about his little shadow boy.
My interpretation is that he and his sister or girlfriend died in a car accident. The menu scene shows the place of death, with the two swarms of flies indicating the two bodies. Throughout the game he must play through an interpretation of his life in Limbo before he can move on with the girl. He starts young, scared of spiders. Bullied by other kids. He works in the city, in a factory, the girl leaves and his life falls apart. The final smash is his last moment going through the car windscreen
@MisterPetinho limbo means a spirit doing something over and over again so he can't just be sleeping it would be considered a dream and not limbo also known as pergatory where a spirit can't find closure
This game goes into the same category as Braid. Highly original puzzles, with open, interpretable storylines and with killer art departmens (respectively, minimalistic and impressionist).
this game reminds me of a game for the ps1 about the darkness powers, and they kidnap your dog so you need to go to their world and it has so epic deaths

I guess the ESRB doesn't like the idea of letting little kids play a game where you play as a 7 year old who gets impaled, electrocuted, drowned, grinded up, ripped apart, and possessed by brain eating parasites while his blood sprays everywhere. I like your inperpretation of the game Dsp but if u look at the main menu at the ladder and the 2 rotting corpses....kinda resembles the girl and u right at the end....0_o

@Mraajdar holy shit your right. the main screen of the two rotting corpses at the same spot that the girl and you were at. so they appearantly both died. the kid is a ghost so he manages to get to his sister and (slight theory) she kills herself so she can be with the boy so there both dead now as ghosts together.

remember that worm that fell out of the pipe when you saw the person? it was the same person in the same scene, but the worm is there to try to keep the boy from escaping limbo [luckily it fails and only delays your escape]

The story represents the journey through life. The platforming represents the hurdles we all must overcome. The gravity represents the ups and downs we all must face. the magnets represent the attractions we all feel. The deaths represent our inescapable deaths (and the infinite variety thereof). The glow worms represent peoples attempt to brainwash us until they see the light and change their course of thinking. The eyes represent internal illumination (enlightenment). The frog represents FROG.

@9innail The creator obviously wanted the viewers to predict whats going to happen next. (yep its just one of THOSE games). And the games representations shouldnt be based completely on life. If it is then what is the girl susposed to represent? What is the forest/ hotel/ cave susposed to represent. And that inescapable death thing you said isnt true. Every day people escape death, not knowing they could die at any time. The game does have something to do with the main characters past though.

forest/hotel/cave = infinite variety of situations, circumstances and settings we find ourselves in.
inescapable death = EVERYONE dies. (eventually, and they usually don't know how it will happen).

The primary character in Limbo is a nameless boy who awakens in the middle of a forest on the "edge of hell" who then begins to seek out his missing sister. During the journey, the boy encounters only a few additional human characters that either attack or run away from him. Once during the journey, the boy catches a glimpse of a female character, but she vanishes before he can reach her.

The story is the boy and his sister died and the sister manage to escape limbo but not her brother in which you play as the boy and escape which he reunite whith the girl. THE THING I DONT GET IS y does it show the treehouse well if you look closely you'll see flies flying over two bodies which mean they're dead. DSP showed us the story in which IS ALL A BIG MIND FUCK

There have been so many times where Phil let's out a triumphant cheer and then dies right after. That shit cracks me up so much!!! But I'm not just laughing at you. I'm also very empathetic about the situation. Throughout this journey so far, you have solved puzzles, found cleverly hidden achievements, flipped switches and jumped and swung your way through a shit ton of challenging(and sometimes extremely cheap!!!)mazes and enemies. Keep up the amazing work, sir!

Excellent playthrough DSP. Funny thing is though, when I completed the game and it got to the forest area I thought it was at the start of the game again so quit, thinking that was the end of the game. I stand corrected. : )

from what i understood is you're supposed to make up the story as you go along. Whatever you think the story is between the boy and the girl is the correct story. There is no wrong version of the story because it's your story. For the player to get out at least in terms of the story, to get out whatever they envisioned it to be. For some reason this reminds me of the orignial Nintendo's Nemo's Dream land (which was a cool NES game btw)

So after finishing the playthrough, I went ahead and read a couple of interviews with the developers. From what I can tell, all they revealed was the identity of the female character; beyond that, the plot was open to interpretation. I kind of like it that way, to be honest.

i say the boy drowned and his sister found his body and commit suicide. his sister's soul is still on earth though, so u, the boy, has to get to her by going through limbo. in limbo, he repeats his life of getting over arachnaphobia, beating the bullies, working in a factory, and eventually drowning again.

this is a defining moment. DSP actually got attached to his character, because there was no real character to make fun of and to just discard with all the other characters he's played. he actually cared about his little shadow boy.
that is what made this playthrough great.

My interpretation is that he and his sister or girlfriend died in a car accident. The menu scene shows the place of death, with the two swarms of flies indicating the two bodies. Throughout the game he must play through an interpretation of his life in Limbo before he can move on with the girl. He starts young, scared of spiders. Bullied by other kids. He works in the city, in a factory, the girl leaves and his life falls apart. The final smash is his last moment going through the car windscreen
