I have a question - when you take an old car, before you process it, how do you get the old chrome off? Mechanical or you just get the new one over the old???
This is chemical silver plateing (not chrome), This stuff is about as durable as spray paint and requires multiple layers of clear coat just to keep it from oxidizeing off. Though you know some moron in the ghetto is gonna want his rusted out cadillac to look pimped out. So he will blow six times more than his cars worth on the sliver paintjob and some gold plated rims.
oh the moron is a drug dealer with six kids, you forgot that part. lol But keep'in it real-dow in-shit. The paint shop opened its doors to sell paint, so did the body shop and the car stereo/rim shop. you cant take money to the grave with you, minus well spend on a much dumb (cool) shit as you can.
girls like shinny stuff, and the more shinny stuff you have the better chance you have of getting in there stuff. ITS A FACT.
you need to call a local bodyshop and ask the price to do that to your car. 3k or better then you might have to go out of town, cause not every shop does this, and then it may take a month to get done (back log in the shop, ordering the paint and wet sanding ($500-$1000 more by it self) the whole car). it may take a while before you shine.
@wilnoy Ha, 30-40 years ago they had this stuff, silver paint or AKA Mexican Chrome. No offense to the mexican guys here, OK? Real silver hasto go on bare metal, not very durable, needs clear over it, Real Chrome is a multiple step process, very expensive, not something you can do at home.
I wish they would stop calling this chrome. This process is silver plateing not chrome, a solution of silver nitrate is sprayed on. followed by a solution of sodium chloride. The reaction causes the silver to seperate from the nitrate and deposit on the surface. Chromium plateing is not related to this process in anyway and currently the only way to do chrome plateing is via electroplateing.
@Lokivoid you are Dead Wrong... this is not Silver nitrate, its just realy expencive alluminum paint, why expencive? because the alluminum particles need to be microscopy to have that nice reflection, but this paint falls short when compared to Real Silver...Real Silver Spray On Chrome can outshine even chrome, why? Silver is the most refective metal in this world...
