  • Those look like railroad ties around the garden..you can find them very cheap usually. I know I can get them here for about $5 each

  • The wire on the fence is called hardware cloth

  • They are using treated lumber for the worm bin.

  • I love your videos and always learn so much! Which plants would do better in pots on patio and which ones need t be in beds? I tried tomato plants in very large pots last year but the yeild was disappointing.

  • Keep on what your doing we love it and your info is amazing No need to upgrade - i want spontaneous!!!! Keep on Growing!

  • I wish my community had a place like that. Then again...maybe it does and I just don't know it!

  • OMG! I work in Irvine and live in Costa Mesa, would have been really nice to know you were in town. Thanks for sharing this place to the rest of the public... The company i work for ownes Rogers Gardens in Newport Beach. Thats a great place to visit for plants and other items.

  • John, you need to get a wireless microphone, so your voice does not decrease when you walk or turn away from the camera. Also your voice gets too loud when the camera does close ups.

  • If you purchase me a wireless mic and new video camera that will interface to it, I can guarantee I will use it more often.. I have estimated it will cost about $280. That being said, it would make "more equipment" for me to carry around, so I might not be as "spontaneous" with my videos as I am now with my flip camera with built-in mic. Keep in mind this is my hobby and do this work at no cost to my viewers... If I were charging for videos, I probably WOULD invest in a wireless mic...

  • @ga69tes

agree! with better sound it will look more attractive John. And if you have some extra american dollars please look into wide angle and may be 16:9 camera. You can get much better video quality. Hey John have you seen GoPro HD cam. Check this out, it's very cool vid.... vimeo(dot)com/6825217

  • I'm bummed John. The great park is 10 minutes from my house and would have loved to say hi. Really enjoy your videos. Looks like you were there Saturday evening right after the OC master gardener's replanted much of the beds. I was hoping you would point out the espaliered fruit trees along the chain link fence. Maybe next time.

  • Someone should tell them that hay and straw are not the same

STRAW is what you would want to use for beds like that. HAY is for animal feed and can be green and will contain seeds

  • Tons of good info there. Thanks!

  • Thank you!

  • grt video ty

  • cool ideas

  • I used hay bales to grow several tomatos. They produced some of the best tomato plants in my garden. A lot of piss helps. I just left the bale wire on it to give it form and put a few shovel fulls of dirt on top, let it age for about 4 months and it's ready.

  • EXCELLENT!

  • Interesting category names ... a nice place to show the possibilities.
