Team work. I find it appalling how humans react to their unevolved cousins warfare. This is cannibalism, and it is called a "victory".
The "weakest monkey" is the least aggressive, the most emotionally stable. This is how a species prevents evolution from occuring. If this species is still living in the trees, infested with lice and fleas, obviously, the species is failing. This scene is the lack of foresight.

Do some reading suggests a lack of general knowledge, which is a fallacious assumption. Consider a less bias, more specific comment. If you would kindly share your source of information rather than your assumptions regarding my knowledge, I might take it more serious.
Wait one minute! Are you the first chimpanzee to type sentences? In Atlanta, a chimpanzee named "Lana" uses symbols on a computer to ask for food. Are you Lana, the monkey?
If so, I am sorry that I offended your species, but I am not hip with political correctness.
Just don't file an internet law suit. I thought you were a really stupid human. It's not like dumb people are a rare find. Lol.
I noticed you keep repeating the word "fail" and your vocabulary seems fairly limited. Maybe you can empathize with these monkeys in more ways than one.
@riverlioness the fuck you talkin about? so every living thing on the planet except homo sapiens is failing? cannibalism is when an animal eats the flesh of an animal of the same species, there are long degrees of seperation between a chimpanzee and a monkey, if a scorpion eats a spider do you consider that cannibalism?
and what do you mean "the weakest monkey is the least aggressive"? we are the weakest ape but we are much more aggressive than the gorilla or orangutan? get your facts staight.
They get excited; its some kind of natural phenomenon. Have a look at all those videos on youtube of people feeding their "X" to a "X" (ie live mouse to snake). And then their mates are laughing, amazed, wooing etc. If we evolved from a common ancestor such as apes, I think its not so un-natural for us to enjoy watching such a spectacle.
@FishyMoe Yes, it was natural to those species with an undeveloped sense of empathy or compassion. I feel it is unfortunate that the life of a weaker animal had to be sacrificed, but on the other these chimps had to eat and feed their tribe.
@guthax30 yeah i see where your coming from. I guess i am of the belief that our actions as a species have not shown that we are empathetic or compassionate in our nature; albeit to our own families/social groups. Otherwise there wouldn't be as many wars or environmental damage seen world wide. We can say we are compassionate and empathetic, but its hard when people will mimic others around them and say, hate iraqi's, keep eating meat, etc. To me we are still chimps in disguise.
Why do people always say that if a human were to fight a chimp they would get ripped apart? If a chimp can use their stronger muscles then a human would use what he has... weapons. sorry even if it was a sword its still no contest, anyway That is nature at its best. I have to say much rather be taken out by something like a lion or tiger at least they kill in a less painful manner. Being quartered by chimps just dosnt seem to suit me
@stoopifyd They're not all meat eaters, they hunt in some places. They started doing this very recently actually (according to anthropologist), they started immitating humans who hunted.
I'd rather get hunted by a pack of wolves rather than chimps. Chimps attack the most sensative features, and I'm not talking about your face and limbs but your genitals too....Sadly we can't deny that they are our closest relatives.
What beautiful thing! Nature at work! Kill or be killed! These Colobus Monkeys are meant to be food that is their role in the hierarchy of the primal world. To see that monkey get torn up and see it in pain writhing was fantastic!
This guy should be careful, standing so close to those chimps. They might decide that they want a quick dessert, he would sure as hell be easier to catch than that monkey.
the truly awesome part of this, which the film fails to mention, is that the chimps don't actually hunt for the nutrition the meat gives them, but they use that meat for politics or sex. males will form alliances between themselves by sharing meat and males will give females meat in exchange for mating opportunities. sounds like humans and money, eh?
The males that are already 'allied' hunt down animals together. They do not form alliances using meat as they do not share with out-groups (they sometimes eat them!). Much the same with the males and the females. Males will also share meat with females in their group, regardless of whether they are on-heat or not and they will be able to to have sex with them any time soon.
Chimps as I understand it have no groups except those freely formed by social bonds between chimpanzees who would otherwise be independent.
Groups do co-operate to acquire and protect food sources which shared, in this way meat is unremarkable, groups co-operate to 'acquire' meat much as they would acquire a fruit tree.
One thing chimps do not do however is individualistically hunt things and then 'share' with others to form bonds.
Since it takes an entire group of chimps to hunt down something, there is no sense in which any individual chimps within the group "owns" the meat and any other chimp is individually bonded to them their "generosity". If any chimp were to decide that they separately owned the meat and could thus freely deny it to other members of the group, that would be a separatist act against the group, which might well result in them being "shared" themselves.
that would be a valid point, except that males are the only ones that hunt, and meat constitutes approx 2% of their diet. so why would they bother with such a costly and unimportant (nutritionally) behavior? enter social reasons.
p.s. there are strict dominance hierarchies within a group of males and a dominant male is likely to have priority access to "the kill". sharing the meat from this kill is a means of bond formation and alliance. similar to grooming.
2% of their diet could easily be enough to correct some nutritional deficiency. Has anyone tried feeding chimps the exact same diet they'd eat in the wild but lacking the meat?
from what i know about chimps in zoos, they do not feed them meat. but i could just as easily be wrong. besides, if it was a nutritional deficiency they were looking to correct, then why wouldn't females be involved?
That is not true. Females do hunt, indeed they have even invented "spears" unlike the males. But the anti-social nature of female chimps prevents the creation of large groups of female chimps, which inhibits hunting, hence the invention of spears.
Asking why they hunt even though it only makes up 2% of their diet is silly because chimps don't know where their next meal is coming from so they cannot be so picky. If they can hunt and there are prey available they will.
The Chimps do have a dominance heirachy, but that is not relevant to my point. The 'top chimps' get to eat first with meat as with everything else. They would still be the top chimps if no hunting ever occurred, because a group of chimps hunts as a group, not as individuals. That they eat first is an expression of their status, but other chimps eat as their "right" as group members not because of the boss's generosity.
@cliffracerslayer i don't know where you got this information, but the dominant male does not care about the "rights" of others in the group, unless helping them reciprocates in some way to help him.
If he doesn't care, he sure has to pretend that he does. As with most other animals, the dominant animal has 'dinner-queue precedence', but you shouldn't imagine that it is in some sense free to let other group-members go hungry. If he doesn't take the interests of the other group members into account, either he will simply be deposed or the underlings will simply run away leaving him as the ruler of nothing.
@cliffracerslayer the "anti-social nature of female chimps"? that's simply not true. females are very social. but their gregariousness is limited by resources. abundant resources will lead to large groups of females. scarce resources will lead them to separate. i know of no evidence that supports your theory that tool use comes from anti-sociality. males use tools as much females. it's just that mothers are the ones that teach the young.
Female Chimps will socialize, but they do not form social groups very well. For the most part they go where the food is, with little regard for any social bonds except their bonds with their children.
I was not referring to the use of tools in general, that is ubiquitous but the use of 'spears' in hunting. Both males and females use tools, it's just that spears have only ever been used by females. This is because they do not form large cohesive groups/are antisocial.
@titojack8 Doesn't that mean the female chimps DO eat the meat for nutrition? Surely this is a factor in why the males hunt as well, you can see in the video they are eating the monkey.
@Sapphiregriffin, whoever said to be human was to care (True) but to not kill (Not true) was some kind of moron. by definition humans need to kill to survive, Why? because by defeinition they are heterotrophs, just like every other being in the kingdom animalia, they need to take energy from other animals and plants to survive as opposed to making their own energy like plants. there are some who dont care but most people are good, theres no reason to hate everyone just because few are dicks.
true, the dicks get all the attention and you never see a story of anyone doing something nice on the news even tho those stories heavily outweigh the negative ones.
They would kill it or scare it off. Dogs are very bad predators, we humans have bred it out of them, and chimpanzee have many group tactics to deal with lone adversaries.
@oldschoolbadger 'What would happen if I turned my pit bull on all those chimps?' - they would rape it to death, then rip off it's face and genitals. That isn't a joke. Apart from the raping bit.
@oldschoolbadger You think Chimps are soft? A normal sized chimp is as strong as the average body builder and the bigger ones are tough enough to literally rip your arms off.
"What would happen if I turned my pit bull on all those chimps?"
Your dog would get destroyed. If you ignored the tree the chimps could climb and they were all in a 'pit', then the best your dog could do would be to bite one chimp and lock its jaw. In the meanwhile the rest would fucking tear it to pieces....you think your pitbull is scary?? Go google a picture of chimp teeth.
@Lionshareinc@oldschoolbadger they tend to attack nuts as well. Especially their own kind in border protection patrols. Big dog nuts would be first to go.
@Lionshareinc My grandpa owned a monkey for 12 years and he said it was responsible for killing at least 3 dogs LOL. One time he said a german shepard tried to bit it and it grabbed the back legs with both hands and broke them while biting down and bending them one by one while the dog screamed for help. He went to court over that one and won the case. monkeys are no joke
@oldschoolbadger maybe if you have equal enough pittbulls(trained to kill) to chimps ratio in a open space like a filed with no trees, then i say yea, that would be a hell of a fight,in a forest, they would be massacred
i love this kind of made up fights :) i wouldnt like too see it though :((
It certainly takes away the argument that man should be vegetarian. Man's closest relative is clearly a meat eater. I can't see that habitat as being short of fruit......
That's hard to establish. Both Bonobos and Chimps descend from a common ancestor, which in turn descend from a common ancestor with humans. So, they're technically both our closest ancestors.
@madams99 First make a search for "bonobo hunt " (I can't put a link here) and you'll see that bonobos hunt too, the same way the chimpanzees do. Than the genus difference between man and chimp is the same than man and bonobo.
I like chimps. But they are bad pets. They belong out in the wild. There are two reasons why they ate that other monkey. Food and territory. Chimps are omnivores.
I have respect for all animals.
That being said chimps are downright ugly. Just plain ruthless, vicious, beasts. I think its true that you are only allowed to have on in captivity when it is young. After it gets older it gets too violent and too unpredictable.

As with most other animals, the dominant animal has 'dinner-queue precedence', but you shouldn't imagine that it is in some sense free to let other group-members go hungry. If he doesn't take the interests of the other group members into account, either he will simply be deposed or the underlings will simply run away leaving him as the ruler of nothing.
cliffracerslayer 1 year ago
@cliffracerslayer the "anti-social nature of female chimps"? that's simply not true. females are very social. but their gregariousness is limited by resources. abundant resources will lead to large groups of females. scarce resources will lead them to separate. i know of no evidence that supports your theory that tool use comes from anti-sociality. males use tools as much females. it's just that mothers are the ones that teach the young.
titojack8 1 year ago
Female Chimps will socialize, but they do not form social groups very well. For the most part they go where the food is, with little regard for any social bonds except their bonds with their children.
I was not referring to the use of tools in general, that is ubiquitous but the use of 'spears' in hunting. Both males and females use tools, it's just that spears have only ever been used by females. This is because they do not form large cohesive groups/are antisocial.
cliffracerslayer 1 year ago
Meat make them smarter, for that reason gorillas and oranguntans are not a s smart and spend mist of their time gathering plants.
juandacharroninja 1 year ago
You make an interesting point. But what came first? Hunting or the intelligence to hunt?
titojack8 1 year ago
@titojack8 Doesn't that mean the female chimps DO eat the meat for nutrition? Surely this is a factor in why the males hunt as well, you can see in the video they are eating the monkey.

@Sapphiregriffin yes you hate humans because thats what a completely compassionate person with strong willpower does... hate
Jetryder223 2 years ago
is tha soppost t be good or bad? i hate them because thay always say TO BE HUMAN IS TO CARE AND NOT KILL. but all thay do is not care and kill.
Sapphiregriffin 2 years ago
@Sapphiregriffin, whoever said to be human was to care (True) but to not kill (Not true) was some kind of moron. by definition humans need to kill to survive, Why? because by defeinition they are heterotrophs, just like every other being in the kingdom animalia, they need to take energy from other animals and plants to survive as opposed to making their own energy like plants. there are some who dont care but most people are good, theres no reason to hate everyone just because few are dicks.
Jetryder223 2 years ago
the prle is the "dicks" stand out more

true, the dicks get all the attention and you never see a story of anyone doing something nice on the news even tho those stories heavily outweigh the negative ones.

What would happen if I turned my pit bull on all those chimps?
oldschoolbadger 2 years ago
It would probably get it's limbs pulled off, maybe.
anfonyl 2 years ago 31

Lionshareinc 1 year ago 23
@Lionshareinc @oldschoolbadger they tend to attack nuts as well. Especially their own kind in border protection patrols. Big dog nuts would be first to go.
Ebonyninja 6 months ago

Kidsgrove49 2 years ago 6
Actually the closest living relative to humans is the bonobo (Pygmy Chimpanzee) and not the Common Chimpanzee's you see in the clip.
Bonobo's dont hunt monkeys, although they sometimes eat termites, ants, etc.
madams99 2 years ago
That's hard to establish. Both Bonobos and Chimps descend from a common ancestor, which in turn descend from a common ancestor with humans. So, they're technically both our closest ancestors.
And btw, bonobos eat meat too.
dariopy 2 years ago 5
@madams99 Not really, Bonobos and Chimps are pretty much equal level when comes to how close they are (around 98%)
I love how Chimps are highly aggressive and violent, and Bonobos have sex with each other all day... then us humans are like in the middle.
calladuz 1 year ago
@calladuz I think we are closer to chimps, actually (and somewhat sadly) :(
Our cultures are far more likely to repress sex than war.
DarthVaygr 1 year ago
@DarthVaygr You're right, hahahaha. sex is definately seen as more dangerous than killing people :/
calladuz 1 year ago
@madams99 First make a search for "bonobo hunt " (I can't put a link here) and you'll see that bonobos hunt too, the same way the chimpanzees do. Than the genus difference between man and chimp is the same than man and bonobo.

I like chimps. But they are bad pets. They belong out in the wild. There are two reasons why they ate that other monkey. Food and territory. Chimps are omnivores.
