Out of all the outcomes of all the quests, this one is the most emotional one, it had me down to tears and anyone who doesn't find this scene upsetting has issues, game or no game, bioware have always had the skills to make game stories appear emotionally real and this quest is the proof of that.
I will admit to being moved to tears by this mission. The final shot at the end is heartbreaking. It's almost as if David Anders is staring you in the eyes.
seeing this got me really emotional because I have a brother thats autistic and seeing what that ass hole would do to his brother made want to kill him, I mean how can you do that to your own brother, your AUTISTIC BROTHER, that guy was a complete ass
I am a renegade character all the way and I literally cried when I saw this and this was the only paragon decision I made throughout my entiere playthrough.
a just finished overlord. The end is one of the most sad ones i´ve seen in a videogame. Other option is the death of ghost and roach in mw2. But this was to much.
Im starting to hate cerberus and the illusive motherfucker.
This 'and' Lair of the Shadow Broker are my favorite DLC's from Bioware to this date. Speaking from the perspective of someone who was diagnosed at an early age as high functioning on the autistic spectrum this ending really strikes home for me. It is such that I doubt on other play throughs, if I could go about being a renegade in this situation.
More than what millinniummany said, many autistic people, lacking many aspects of intelligence, make up for it with one specific area of genius. These are called autistic SAVANTS, of which many make up a large percentage of the autistic population. Some are brilliant in art, science, even math. Some are among the best of the best in their area. David, for example, is a savant, and thus has the crazy ability to talk to geth and do math.
There is nothing renegade about pistol whipping someone. He was shooting at you and taking him out without killing him is as paragon as you can get. lol
How do I look like?Wait for the response they wish, my email is petrica_alex@yahoo.comLet me know your email address to send you coalesced from the game, I changed a lot since we fail to look like Legion, garrus, Thane and especially in this Krogan Grunt this video(Krogan VS Shadow Broker ).I pray a lot.By the way if you give me an email on my email please write theme krogan Mass Effect 2 to identify him, because I get many emails and delete them without reading them.EXPECT ANSWERS.
What would have been an interesting choice was if the on screen paragon wasn't used, Shepard kills Archer with a bullet to the head. Doesn't it make more sence given the situation?
This was one of the most realistic and memorable parts of the genius that was Mass Effect 2. The way this story was woven, the way it played out, the way it just hit you full force in such a subtle way at the end...truly brilliant. I sobbed when I saw poor David. All in the name of progress. There has to be limits. There are always alternatives.
@Roddyn5 What would have been an interesting choice was if the on screen paragon wasn't used, Shepard kills Archer with a bullet to the head. Doesn't it make more sence given the situation?
@Roddyn5 i was running a full renegade playthrough when i first encountered this, i couldnt bring myself to do the renegade option, i even sat there thinking, its ok il do paragon next time and coudnt bring myself to choose it, this was one of the most emotion moments in gaming for me, only moments that have come close so far were Dom and Maria in GOW2 (if you played it, you will know what im talking about), and a couple others (not many)
@Dooland1991 really all the renegade option does is slap the evil brother and leave the poor man with his brother, but even still youd have to skip a bunch of things just to choose renegade so you wont hear it
@sonicsega555 I know, I've gone through this mission about 4 times now and I've never gone renegade ending but i always pistol whip him for what he did.
My brother is autistic. This mission made my heart ache and made me love him more. Even if this is just a game.

One of the starkest moments of any video game I've ever played has to be David's voice echoing "It all seemed harmless" as the screen fades to black

Wow, forget Saren, the Reapers, and the Illusive man.
Archer just mess with his autist brother's mind for a twisted experiment, HE'S the motherfucker villain in this game
