How come you guys never discuss interest rates? True fractional reserve banking is bad, but it bothers me when I see people always talking about private bank money creation as the primary reason this is a bad system. As long as we legally allow contracts this practice is ok. It's only when massive amount of defaults occur that it hurts the system. We should concentrate more on how to avoid default than worry about the money supply.

If the people would just get it together and start printing their own money through a true central bank.

Print money into existence as value through large public works projects like high speed rail, thermal, solar and wind power projects, hemp farms etc.

Use local currency as well, free money that degrades over time to discourage hoarding.

I think stamp taxes were used previously to keep money from going stale. Not sure if it would work today.

I'd say, get states to print their own gold-, silver- and commodities-backed certificates. If hoarding occurs, then a new commodity can be introduced. With 50 states on board, there should be enough money going 'round.
