  • Hardest part was putting the spring back in place.

  • Worked like a charm. Thanks

  • I can't unscrew it. How did you do it? (When I turn the screw, the other side rotates along at the same time)

  • omg thank you so much ur awsome i bought my chi for 150 dollars a 4 month a ago and it sopped working and when i saw this i was like ill try it and it worked !!!!!! thankxxx so much i wish i had seen this before i bought a new flat iorn but anwaythank you thankyou thankyou so much!!!!!

  • It Looks Hard To Fix , I Cannnt Do It &' Omqq I Havee The Same Promblemm &' Thee Samee Straiqhner !

  • My mums had a broken cord, and all I had to do was wipe some of the buildup off the metal contacts, see if this helps you

  • all of a sudden my chi wouldnt turn on...the red lightbulb turns on for 10 seconds if i press the plates together but then it turns off...idk what to do and I'm only 14 so I'm scared to unscrew it because i dont want to get shocked

  • How can I fix the spring in mine? It doesn't stay open. Just started today! :(

  • thank you very much! well i had 2 chi, one is to old and the new one doesn't work, yesterday i try to repair the plug and i just broken de plug, today i saw your video and i open both chi and just changed the cord =D (sorry for my english)

  • I stepped on my Chi and it broke apart and the metal coil disconnected... How did you manage to put it back together? It seems impossible

  • do you have an extra plate? My girlfriend's will fall out and will not stay in. I'm not sure if glue would work because of the heat. Any ideas? Thanks

  • I can't unscrew the first two bolts!

  • Thank You, thank you, thank you!!! You just saved me from buying a new Chi for my daughter.

  • Derp.

  • How did you put the spring back?

  • alright so one of the plates on my chi only works if it is pushed down a certain way? i think this plate might be loose or something but is there a way I can get under the plates to see what's wrong without causing too much damage? OR maybe I could send it to you and you could take a look at at pleaseeeee?

  • Appreciate the video, but getting the two screws in the beginning is a nightmare and I am afraid the jumpiness in your video didn't help. Maybe next time you repair something for your wife, she could at the very least watch, maybe even hold the camera...after all, it was fixed for her...just sayin...she doesn't seem appreciative.

  • Thank you! [:

  • if i send you my sisters flat iron can you fix it?

  • I found out how to fix the switch ( I have an Amika straightener though, so it mayyy be different). The problem I had was that the switch was loose, as in this video. Rather than soldering the two (of the 3) pins on the back together, you can open up the switch and see that under the plastic top that we flick on and off, there is a small symmetrical metal piece that pivots between "on" and "off" that is failing to connect. Add a piece of plastic or glue it in that won't melt there and voila!

  • My iron has the same problem, but I was trying to find out how you soldered the two prongs. did you just make a glob of solder connect the two? did it touch the circuit board? Im not used to this sort of soldering!

    Great video!

  • my dial for the temp is broken can i fix that also?

  • The CHI isn't that bad. Mine lasted for a while but it broke!& I don't wanna throw it away cuz iJust Can't! To this dayy I still have it(Still broken] But iBought A Paul Mitchell! It's wayyy better!&It doesn't damage you hair! :DDD

  • seriously? After 4 minutes I couldn't take any more of your bumbling and did she REALLY need to stand in the kitchen and read a magazine in the background? You two are annoying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i loved your video. i opened mine knowing that there was obiously something wrong with the cord because when i would move it around in a certain position the plates would heat up and everything. i noticed lot of white glue and the red wire is detatched. how can i reatach it to out 2.

  • what if the top part of the switch popped off with the spring, would i just super glue it back on? like it's loose and slides on an off

  • hey you have any extra ceramic plate holders? its the holder under the ceramic plate

  • @buzzmeok I've got 4 other straighteners I need to fix, so one of them will probably have a ceramic plate I could salvage.

  • oh and yes this have a thermal fuse which is connected at the end of the ceramic plate.

  • i already knew about this but if you could figure out why my wifes CHI wont power on when the switch is good the diodes are good and the led faintly comes on. If you could do that i would appreciate it. BTW what model is that cause it looks like the wifes.

  • @dumsum19able I wish I could help you more, but I don't really know much about electronics and what-not. It could be a problem with your cord. Obviously, you are getting power, otherwise the light wouldn't work at all, but it seems like you aren't getting a clean circuit running through the iron or something.

  • @dumsum19able your problem is with one of the heating element wires. the wire either broke loose from the circuit board or on the actual ceramic plate.
