Hello a friend of mine has sent me a phone from australia, im based in the uk. he told me he has jailbroken the 5.0.1 firmware but it was locked to optus and all i have to do is get it unlocked. i tried using an old jailbrake but i have been forced to restore the phone on itunes and updated it. If i use you methood in this video do you think it will work and i will be able to get a carrier signal.

@qwertyberty18 it all depends on the modem firmware of the iphone. also it depends on the model of the phone (iphone 4, 3gs 3g etc) and other than that the shsh files do matter because you might be able to downgrade your ios.

@Majidsyed2 Thanks for your reply its an Iphone 4 the firmware version is 5.0.1 and the baseband version is 04.11.08 i must add i cannot get past the 'only compatable sim cards from a supported carrier' so cannot really activate it.

I see i cant unlock via ultrasnow but is there anyway to roll back to an earlier baseband, and do you have any idea how i can activate the phone without a simcard with this current firmware/baseband

@qwertyberty18 unfortunately there is no unlock availbale for your baseband currently, there is one being worked on but there is no estimated release date for it. and to activate it you are going to have to jailbreak it using snowbreeze or pwnage tool and click on the hacktivate option in the advanced settings. there is no other way at this time.
