The Drew Carey era set looks PATHETIC, they Should have updated the Bob Barker era set for Drew Carey and kept the look of the set similar to what it looked like when Bob was the host of the show, and they should have kept the original big doors and the original light borders around the big doors, and they made a BIG mistake giving the big wheel it's makeover, they should have kept the red flashing lights on the sides of the wheel and they should have kept the classic dollar symbols as well.
I wonder where Bob was, was he somewhere in the studio where he wasn't visible, like maybe in his dressing room or somewhere else in the studio that day? And whatever became of the original light borders and the original big doors? I wish they would have kept the original light borders and the original big doors and given them a makeover for The Price is Right.

The set they have now looks absolutely ridiculous! The colors of the doors, IUFB and SHOWCASE Poduiums, and surrounding audience curtains look awful; there are only eight panels on the doors, the turntable design and carpeting is flawed, and their using green screen effects for trips now. You know, somehow I feel a cancellation coming on with all the comments I have read so far!
@Kjr0se The light boarders was a real physical object they had on a pedastal type thing, with a green screen in the frame. A camera would be in front with the audience superimposed on to the green sceen.
@Ccrazyfella Actually, it was a black screen. Luma key (black screen) is much more popular in TV than chroma key (green/blue screen); why, I don't know.

I miss the Barker era set. It was much classier looking. The Carey era set looks like it belongs under a circus tent. Most of all I miss Bob Barker. I've abstained from watching TPIR since Bob Barker retired.

I agree! They should have bought back the Season 31 Set; but if you remember when they had the Hollywood Mural Turntable set, the reverse side of that set featured the classic design. But the colors were Red, Blue, and Yellow. So, if they bought the whole season 31 set, they could make the colors of the turntable look the like the reverse side of the Hollywood Mural with the classic design. What do you think, 300palms?
Boy, do I miss the old modern set and the old theme music, I wish they would at least bring back the ORIGINAL recording of the theme music for The Price is Right, even though Drew Carey is hosting the show though. I DO NOT like the new updated version of the theme music for the show either, I'm nostalgic about certain things too.
This was the rehearsal for Production #2861K, the second of two shows taped March 15, 2004.
Models of the Day were Teri Harrison (seated at the turntable, later showing off the front prizes in Make Your Move - which was played before Hole In One), Rachel Reynolds and Candace Smith (handling the Hole in One flags and the trip).
Though not heard in the video, the Announcer Candidate of the Day was Jim Thornton. Price was in the process of replacing Rod Roddy at the time.
WOW, I was there 5 days before on March 10th 2004. I didn't get called down sadly but a neighbor did. Wish I could see it again, I taped it but alas, I lost it. It aired on March 24th 2004. I was on camera several times!
2 other things, was Jim Thornton the announcer on March 10th?
Also, In "commercial time" when Bob was talking to the audience, He called on me to ask a question. If I had the balls, I'd have asked him why he's blocking reruns to air and get the whole crowd going, but I settled for a Happy Birthday wish.
That's some pretty awesome stuff. Brings back memories of my trip to the show. How'd you get them to let you into the studio with a camera?

I like the old set better than the one they have now.

I totally agree with you. There was more color. Especially the old set for The "Million Dollar Spectaculars".

It's amazing that they felt the need to rehearse the same games over and over. You'd think that would be unnecessary after so many years.
