  • every time I hear this closing them, it reminds me of being a kid and home and feeling at least a little safe, as an adult I still cry because there are so many things we leave behind that we shouldn't for the sake of growing up. Why does "growing up" supposed to mean that you forget what makes you feel joy and bring you a little happiness. Watching these old cartoons is a visit from a best friend....

  • Now listen to the song 'One Day Like This' by Elbow. The melody is similar. I'm convinced this D/D music subconsciously got into the songwriters mind and influenced him he was writing that song. He's even of about the right age to have been a fan of the show.

  • As we speak, I'm looking for the font used in the end credits (for obvious reasons). :) In case someone finds it before I do, who's familiar with that font at all? I'm browsing 1000s of fonts at dafont dot com.

  • @dndrequiem ... and I've seen this font around before, too...... I know I'll find it...and when I do, I'll post the title of it here...

  • erm so they dont make it back home and are now stuck in that world that sucks

  • Based on an AD&D game, huh? Trouble is which one? They've got mulititudes of worlds in the realms. I mean, in one episode, evil Queen Lloth from "Forgotten Realms" made her ghastly appeance to assist Venger.

  • There is a full version of the Outro by Johnny Douglas called Dungeons and Dragons. BEAUTIFUL music it can be purchased on ITunes and is also on youtube if you search his name!

  • PURE EPIC

  • Judging from the other comments, I'm not alone when I say that this outro always depressed me. When I was growing up, it was the last cartoon on Saturday mornings so seeing the credits always meant that the best part of the weekend had come to an end. But even more than that, something about that deserted amusement park just killed me. It was like the amusement park at night formed a bridge to the intro, reminding you that those kids are still out there somewhere, trying to get home.

  • Eloquently put. An almost dichotomous blend of both sadness and hope.

  • I love this song...it's so relaxing.

  • 4ferrelux, you need to cut back on your crack pipe a little

  • i heard George lucas was going to make dungons and dragons adap to this cartoon???

  • So nostalgic ...

    kind of sad outro

  • I fucking cried when I just watched this. The memories flooded back, and like someone said earlier, we feel nostalgic when we watch these things. Damn, I want those days back!

  • @adamwba1979 - i know what you mean! they don't make cartoons like this anymore!!!

  • @adamwba1979 I guess we all want our saturday morning cartoons back, days at the arcade, pizza on saturdays and adventures in the neighborhoods... It is sad that childhood exploration is no more because of chesters and xbox.....

  • Listening 2the pattern again, there's a sub-rhythm violin-like beginning at the 3rd second & ending in the 13th second of the song. It's a sub-collection of 13 beats repeated 3 times then stops. (13*3=39, sum of 12, sum of 3) I don't think these #'s R by accident. Even if the person only heard 12 beats 3 times, it still adds up to a significant mystic # (12*3=36,9,3) It shows some mystical mastery by the composer Johnny Douglas (Rob Walsh, also reponsible for some music on that show).

  • 1 of my favorite waltz themes. Often wondered Y it was chosen. Sounds occult in nature. I pay attention 2music & countin the meter, U get a rhythmic pattern: 7,6,7 - 8- 7,6,6. Thats 21 (3, 7s) 18 (3, 6s) & 8 infinity, death/rebirth; adds up to 47, sum being 11, & ultimately 2 (duplicity). U find it in creation. Also a # associated w/ Satan. Down 2the last musical spec, this cartoon is laden w/ hidden meaning. Loved watching it WAY BACK then & now can better appreciate from an adult perspective.

  • What I want to know is where is this theme park

  • I never knew that two of the cast members from "Eight is Enough" Willie Aames and Adam Rich did voicework on this show! This msut've also have been while Aames was also working on the CBS season of "Charles in Charge" that same year in 1984 as well?

  • It's actually interesting to find that one of Japan's biggest animation studios -- Toei Animation -- had a hand in American cartoon shows such as this one. I suspect they also did some episodes of "Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends"; you could tell by the style of the character design and animations of some episodes.

  • Fuck!!!!! Serious nostalgia overload!!!!!!!!

  • as a kid dungeons and dragons gave me a reason to wake up on saturday mornings.

  • Bloody hell, I had no idea that the guy who played Ralph Malph in Happy Days also provided the voice of Eric the 'Cavalier'.

I know it's just a cartoon, but I always thought it was really sad how they never made it back home.

  • I have had the theme song of Dungeons and Dragons inside my head since these cartoons came out in the 80's. I have NEVER forgotten the beautiful music. This is profound nostalgia for me.

  • I remember watching this on Saturday morning. Anyone know what year this was? Seems to me it was around 85-86.

  • love the ending dont never want it to end

  • DO YOU KNOW THE NAE OF THIS THEME?

  • Willie Aames played Buddy on Charles in Charge and is now Bibleman on TBN. Donny Most was Ralph Malph on Happy Days and Frank Welker is the voice of Scooby Doo!

  • "Now stay tuned to Pole Position... Next!"

  • lmao...so true!!

  • Aww nice memories...

  • This shit makes me wanna cry when I hear it sometimes. I mean, I'm not a faggot or nothing, I just feel mad nostalgic when I hear this theme cause my brother and I used to love this cartoon. The cartoons they got now for the youth are fuckin' terrible!

  • I know what you mean. I rebuild arcade games and collect toys from this era but it will never be the same

  • You don't have be a 'faggot' to enjoy classic shows like this! This is good stuff period...hands down...whether you're a fag or not!!! Who cares! Unleash the kid inside of you!!! Peace!

  • i feel u inzzo3000..... i grew up listening to this theme...along with neverending story, street hawk, knight rider, etc....so many!

  • plus i'm a full time musician...so these kinda melodies really get my eyes so welled up...hoping & praying i can make a touching score one day.

  • @inzzo3000 this would have been a sweet comment if you hadn't resorted to slagging off gay people so unnecessarily

  • @inzzo3000 - you don't necessarily have to prove your masculinity to shed a few tears now and then for this show! it's totally worth the 'tearjerker' effect!!! for those of us who grow up watching this show back in the day....we already know how powerful this controversial animated show made us all feel! there will never ever be a show quite like this one...i'm afraid! so, it's okay guy...let it all out!!!

  • Brilliant!! This tune always reminds me of rushing home after school in the summer when I was a kid to watch the program.

  • Thank the lord i grew up on this classic stuff. You young rapscallions have pure drivel to watch today

  • Drival? Call it what it is... shit

  • Me too... heaps more nostalgia attached to the outro. In fact over time I've morphed the images from beginning with music from end so this picture from outro is a great find. God I miss being a kid!

  • Peter Cullen (Venger) played Optimus Prime on The Transformers...and Frank Welker (Uni) played Megatron on the same cartoon series

  • That makes me go all gooey eyed *sob*

  • For some reason the outro is more nostalgic for me than the intro.

  • I love the early 80's after-school special vibe that it has!

  • I used to love watching D&D but I never quite got over just how crappy Fox Kids made it. They cut out some important parts and thy didn't even start at the very begining.

  • Katie Leigh (Sheila) played Baby Rowlf on Muppet Babies

  • Did she really?

  • oh that takes Me back... :-)

  • Rest in Peace Gary Gaigax. And thanks for everything you've done for the RPG's.

  • Does anyone know a site (or whatever xD ) to download this song?

  • Thank u for uploading this!!!

  • I think they should make a movie out of this cartoon.Someone like Richard Donner should direct or Joe Dante would be a great choice as well.I'm so surprised they didn't make a movie in the 80's it would be awesome to watch.

  • That sounds Good already

  • I think there is a movie, but flesh n' bone one. And if i remember right, it wasnt very good...

Did u mean an animated movie?

  • Na your on about the role playing game film and yeah that was shit. they never made a film based on this cartoon unfortantly.

  • I couldn't disagree more. I CAN'T STAND Hollywood's recent facination with remaking/bastardizing EVERY half-way popular tv show from the '80s. Not only are they making money off of our generation's nostalgia for the past, but they take it upon themselves to resolve the old show's main conflicts, as if they had the right. I'm telling you, seeing some crappy CGI remake of this cartoon would be like donkey punching my childhood in the balls.

  • I meant live action though.

  • I loved the ending to this cartoon.

  • Yeah, I like it too. They're showing the series on Toon Disney now, but both the introduction and credits have been bastardized. It warms my heart to see them again in their original form.

    JR

  • this is most wonderful - it has the action adventure emotion and sweep of a speilberg or lucas movie in a cartoon - weird riddles and fables, cool monsters and villains, cliffhanging narration, human values, a great pace- is the show's writer michael reaves the michael reeves who directed "the witchfinder general" or was he influenced ny him- the music and sensibility r similar. also the cauldron note each opening of the show wonderfully signifies foul, morbid danger with a stab at its tip

  • and johnny douglas the composer who also did the incr. hulk cartoons shouldve done movie music-so you can see it too!!! its not just cheesy, and oh so 80s or so 5 seconds ago - you can see it with the heart of a child. this cartoon is most wonderful and Mysterious- it seems to be informed by an out-of-the-way, arcane and recondite knowledge that most people don't know how to dream of bcaus they r socially ill

  • he did a great job with this theme, i don't remember the incredable hulk theme, but this has stuck with me

  • The last episode was soooo sad! They never went home. And stayed with Dungeon master!

  • there was no truly last episode, because it was never aired, however, the script for it is floating around on the internet somewhere

  • Hey anyone know what the name of this piece of music is called? I would like to download the full length version, haven't a clue what it's called.- Git back to me people

  • as far as i know, no full length version of this song exists. :(

  • @seablue

    actually it does

    youtube.com/watch?v=8f-vCEaJZPQ&feature=related

    Enjoy

  • @seablue There is a full version it is listed on youtube as well, Johnny Douglas was the composer. He also did Spider man and his amazing friends

  • @photojobs1978 you are right, a good version of it has since been released... it's not the original arrangement, though. afaik, the audio tapes have been destroyed.

  • @JayDwayne

I know its been 4 years but if you still need it

here is the link of the full song

    youtube.com/watch?v=8f-vCEaJZPQ&feature=related
