I'm not religious whatsoever, and I still love this song. I think that proves that it doesn't matter who you think of when you hear this song. I think it just matters that you think of anyone at all, whether it's your deities, your friends, or your lovers.

But then there's that other phrase, "carried by a thousand broken wings". God doesn't need to be carried by wings; He carries us. So this may be about a friend. I don't have an answer, just speculation; but I hope this helped you in someway.

That's why I stopped having faith, because christainaty was pushed on me, I was always scared of doing on little thing thinking I'd go to hell. Besides the people in my church were racist to me and my family. That's why I stopped. I remember one time I was 6 years old just in church and playing with the other children, and a big old fat white guy yelled at me saying "SHUT UP OR I WILL SLAP YOU." I started to cry.

So, It's more than just praying for things you want or reading the Bible. It's NOT a religion, it is a Relationship with Him! I think people misuse the phrase "in Love" by saying, "Oh, I am IN Love with him but he doesn't Love me back" because that doesn't make any sense because by saying WITH him, you are inffering that that person is also "in" that Love as well. I got to agree. I don't think she was talking about Jesus in this song. Yeah, she sings songs about Him, but that's not every song. I mean when she says, "Close your eyes, but don't dream too deep. Please pass me some memories," I think she's talking about a friend on earth. Remember, God doesn't need sleep :) I mean, she could be talking about Him, but that part makes me think differently.

@brokenhearted222111 I'm not sure either. I think it's mostly about God, since the singer says, "Under YOUR stars tonight," and God made the stars. And the singer is also "gazing at eternity". But then there's that other phrase, "carried by a thousand broken wings". God doesn't need to be carried by wings; He carries us. So this may be about a friend. I don't have an answer, just speculation; but I hope this helped you in someway.
