I had to have a small backhoe pull them out when we moved as they had 8 foot roots which were like trying to put a spade into a dry cotton string mop. I had so many crowns that I couldn't give them all away.....I took a ton with me also and transplanted them....
It all turned out very well....asparagus is an awesome gift from God.
since it was on your property and so close i think i would have cleaned the area of other stuff and left it where it was. just my thoughts.

I know that asparagus fruits can be poisionous but can I dry them and plant them?

Great video.
My grandmother has grown asparagus for a long time now. Its nice because you don't really have to keep planting it, and it comes up every year.
You guys need a garden tractor. Just an idea.
