I know, that bloody palm oil is used in everything from soap to chocolate...even pot noodles. Multinationals like Nestle and Unilever have to be pressured into using sustainable sources as these palms are destroying everything in their path and our planet will soon be a very boring and sad place to exist.

I know...the only real answer is for developed nations (in particular) to pay rainforest nations to conserve them, rather than hack them down. A value has to be given which protects them - they are priceless and need to be recognised as such.

I think thats whats they want but I think we should declare war on these nations and erase them so the rain forest returns. Either we regain the forests lost in the C.20 th or the planet will go into extreme weather cycles wiping out nearly all the species.

The choice is clear to survive. Kill all the deforesters and the poachers.

That does appeal a bit, but seriously, I still think instead of wasting billions in aid to corrupt governments; pay them directly instead to protect their forests...sadly unless they are giving a monetary value they will disappear. Satellite imagery can be used to ensure compliance. Maybe one day these nations will learn they are better-off with them, than without, and to practise harvesting them sustainably or not at all.. Rainforests contain 80% if the terrestrial biodiversity on this planet.

ironic how people who were the first to introduction palm plantation to the country are now against what they had practiced.

and fyi the palm plantation was established to save the economy from being vastly timber-based (which was also introduced and practiced by the outsiders), which is far more devastating .

At least we still have our rainforest and orang utans. And we don't do open burning just for the sake of the palm plantation.
