  • Someone do me a favor. Go listen to this song one more time and wait until the intermission after the first part of the second verse (you know what I mean) once here listen carefully and let me know if you can make out some whispers. I haven't found any information on this but I notice this each time I listen to this song. Thanks.

  • Yum num num num dah dah dah.... dee dah dah..

  • Love this song...it sends me shivers <3

  • I'll take one 'cause I play this song over and over.

  • I think I'll start taking morphine, until I get addicted and overdose.

  • These lyrics are some ones heart that i know......... turned into a song....................I love you baby..YOU WILL PULL THROUGH ALL THIS!

  • For those of you who have (thank god) not had the pleasure of overdosing. No other song captures what a real life OD is like more than this. So simple. So true. THIS is IT. At least, for me anyway. Great song...

  • thanks to Hurt I have what listen in the bus and 100$, cause I won bet on that this is not a Hurt...HELL YEAH

  • @Bikachan92 English mother fucker do you speak it?! this makes not sense.

  • @fargone164 makes perfect sense.

  • @fargone164

    Pulp Fic Fan?

  • @bbhouk1 you caught me

  • @fargone164 hahha

  • Got them confused with Hurts... :( Great song though.

  • No words can describe how much I love this band and song <3

  • this song is such a GIFT.

  • lol i thought 0this song was Bibical,,,

  • God when it gets all heavy and he says "why did you leave me when I needed your love" I could feel myself starting to cry..Such an emotional band..Such a shame they arent more popular.

  • @twa545 As I said before, Morphine was named after Morpheus. The Roman god of dreams. So putting that name in the song but talking about any other type of drug class would be at the very least, utterly ignorant. And I'd bet my life if you go to Hurt's web page or any website up to your standards of reliable information, you will find that he did in fact write this song about a struggle with opiates. Xanax, Ha! I can tell you're one of those people that really think they're somethin.

  • @twa545 First off bud, I never use Wikipedia for any sort of research. For any person who deems themselves intelligent can add information. I never researched anything before commenting to doubleRstarr either, I simply read the lyrics. You're right that there are references in the song that "could" refer to other drugs, but they do not. By the chorus alone one can tell he speaks of opiates- "Morpheus why did you leave me when I had need of your love?" Morpheus = Morphine. Get the point??

  • Hurt's vol1 is one of the best rock albums ever!

  • Why do you have to go on a speel about Tool, people? Can't you just look at this as it is: The only real song that touches on addiction and depression in a way that doesn't glorify it the way most bands to. It's real and gritty and it gives you an inkling of what it feels like to really suffer and be stuck as a slave to chemicals. Tool is great, but the name of the song isn't "Overdose- a Tool discussion" it's a fucking Hurt song. Give it the appreciation it deserves. Nuff said.

  • Chorus makes me breath deep

  • @doubleRstarr Hey there fuck sack. Who knows what this artist actually wrote this song about. But if you're speaking about "DRUGS" and what they do / how they effect you... you really are a stupid fuck. The lyrics clearly state an opiate addicts thought process to... well, OPIATES! Also, Morpheus is the Roman "God Of Dreams" and whom Morphine was named after for its euphoric effects on the human mind. So learn yourself what the fuck you're talking about.

  • @PapaverSomniferum13 Wikipedia is such an easy to go to source for such general information. Before you do your research know that there are plenty of references in the song that can be used to refer to any psycological drug. Ex. "I had an emotional crutch" can be used for depression, anxiety, or a bipolar disorder. Anxiety disorders are treated with Xanax. Get the point?

Now would you people let the troll die and continue on with your lives!

  • Tool writes more political then Hurt. Both have excellent music.

  • @LiveLaughLex Really? I think they are more on life to me. Like Parabola for example.

  • This is AMAZING.

  • this may be the most powerful song ever

  • No this song is not about morphine it's about Xanax learn what your drugs do and how they effect you!!!!!

  • @doubleRstarr no lol the lyric Morpheus is a reference to morphine man. the german scientist name it after a Greek god, you have no clue.

  • Amazing what he did with the Morpheus part. Since Morpheus is a Greek God and the drug Morphine was named after him. Brilliant writing. Him and Seether's lead singer (Shaun Morgan) are two of the greatest writers I have ever witnessed.

  • Thank you, Desolated92.

  • This song is about morphine.

  • 13 people are insane...

  • guy makes me feel loneliness

  • I feel so bad for the guy in the song...

  • I was in love with opiates which metabolizes as a morpheus in the body. Overdose was never on the agenda, but taking one to feel something then more later because I'm bored is something i can relate to. Now i'm "clean" and sometimes all I want to do is feel something, if music such as this didn't exist I'd be dead.

  • @Agnostic1breed When I started reading this I tought you were quoting the lyrics. very poetic

  • I havent done drugs, but i can relate because instead of drugs i cut myself...i have an urge to right now, im really scared right now, i dnt know whatt to do

  • This like me and ponies.

  • I don't do drugs, I've never smoked, and i don't drink, but I can relate to this song. We've all been in a situation where we were cut off from something we loved. Like my first 'big love'. For months after, and sometimes still, i go and train, fight, just to feel that anger again, to recreate the adrenaline.

  • Sometimes I wish my life was like this song. At least in the song he commits to something instead of getting to the point and falling back down to re-do this circle I do over and over.

  • @Doctorgib I know right.... this song is genius..

  • Comment removed

  • i love how you put this together in oder and all that good shit man

  • @Wotchascamp You got that too?!

  • I'm a big fan of Tool and I think Hurt writes even more emotional songs than Tool. This band is just simply amazing for their gift of sincerity and reality.

  • @420Guitar420 Tool? Emotional? Those guys are far from emotional songs. Plus Tool and Hurt are both completely different bands, but they are both freaking awesome.

  • @420Guitar420 More emotional? Nah.. On par.

  • 11 people took an overdose

  • @AlucardRawks and now its 12... all these comments do is entice people to dislike lol

  • Comment removed

  • I will say, i may never done drugs or anything, but i did get to the point of being addicted and dependent on a girl that i loved with everything that just upped and left my life, i think i understand this song to a degree

  • I dont think you can truely understand the complicity of this song unless you have actually overdosed...addiction is a serious thing that SO MANY people struggle with and songs like this can help people get thru a hard time...thanks Hurt

  • people are people and if you try to categorize them then you are ignorant the same goes for classifying yourself

  • cccccoooooooooooooooollllllllllllll Emo 4 EVER :X:X:X <3

  • @EmoDarknessMonster Go kill yourself.

    gocryemokid.memebase

  • Heh thumbs up to overdose when ya have with love.

  • aaaaaaaaawwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeessssssoooooooommmmmeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!! so deep...l love this song

  • fuck this is awesome ughhhh <3 you can feel the music

  • any instrumental version of this?

  • love it!! <3

  • I wish i heard this band on the radio...they deserve to be heard!!! Just simply awesome music :)

  • @Lover19880 they were on it alot on octane.

  • From the very first word to the last chords of the song, it will never cease to have me in awe....I dont know what it is, but this song gives me the chills in a good way...simply breath taking

  • @chantazerz Simply a great song :-)

  • Amazing Band Amazing Song!

  • hurt captures that emotion in their music that gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes =]..any time i need a music buzz i listen to them

  • I'd say the second most-liked comment is inappropriate for a song coming from Hurt. but what do I know...

I know something. This song is amazing. Enough said, right?

  • His voice literally gives me chills, in a good way.

  • I love that they can take something like the topic of overdosing and living vicariously in dreams and not over romanticize it into something desirable. You really know when someone's actually been there, and I feel like J really touched on the topic in a perfect way. Depression and drug use isn't all glamor and Edgar Allan Poe. It's real, like this song is. Within the pain and the pained gasping at the end, J nailed the subject matter as well as one of the most consuming pieces on the album.

  • Well, right now my left ear is screwed up, and everything sounds warped. This is the only song that sounds almost normal. Thank God.

  • rehab is 4 quiters so keep overdoseing !!! thumbs up

  • I can not fathom how much I love you right now for typing out " 'cause " instead of "cuz". And you type with proper capitalization, grammar, and punctuation. Omg.

And you type every lyric out.

    Yes.

Yes. Please. Be my friend. xD

  • @imagnome1 you didn't spell out oh my god......... lol just kidding bro

  • I am gettin` high from this song.

  • this song hits so real on so many levels...

  • I JUST TOOK 1OOMG OF MORPHINE AND BLEW CHICKS EVERYWHERE OPIATES SUCK BALLS

  • @rbwade88 takeing that is a waste you must inject it straight to the blood then u will have a different story to tell lol.

  • I love this song.... Can anyone tell me where I can get the tabs for this? Ultimate-guitar has failed me.

  • @jamesmalone2007 There's not a whole lot happening in this song as far as guitar-work goes. It really shouldn't be too hard for you to just figure out yourself.

  • Nine people overdosed on the awesomeness of this song and hit the wrong button.

  • i mean... attonthegreat.. that does make sense since morpheous is in the lyrics.

  • Love The First Scream At The End Of The First Heavy Part Amazing Scream Then Goes Right Into Calm

  • AMAZING!

  • I raped "replay" button. :)

  • @zhozefina01 Kay?

  • @zhozefina01 hihi mi 2

  • I thought maybe the sleep/death dichotomy was a metaphor for loss of artistic inspiration... when you lose your dreams of how to live life loses meaning and you're waking dead...

  • I'll take one, 'cause I needed to feel it so much

I had an emotional crutch, but

I'm feeling bored so I'll take some more

    Cause nothing is happening

And once you told me that you loved me so much

I foolishly began to trust, but

Now I'm ignored and I'm taking more, till

    Something is happening.

damn thats some powerful words...had no idea this band was so amazing ... ...thx youtube for promoting music and bands!!

  • @theshroompker this song is epic.... its a rare thing. 4 artist 2 actually fill what they say. hurt rocks.

  • .....between the calm and the brutality , Awesome !!

  • Thumbs up if you overdosed this song.

  • thumbs up if your grandparents are dead.. :)

  • thumbs up if your grandparents are dead.. :)

  • @homediggy

why would i thumbs up the death of my grandparents? sick fuck.. lol

  • @homediggy LOL

  • @XxTippoxX I went into rehab 98 times because of this song. That is how many times I OD.

  • @XxTippoxX lol definitely bro. this song is great. hurt does so many different types of music and all of them are good :)

    Ha! Hurray for stupid emotions!!!!

  • repent repent or god will not give mercy on u stop voilence or 2012 will be the end of all of human beings and will no longer be lingering with humans only god will know what to do change ur ways

  • @TheFlipgirl101

uhh... i don't get what a religious fruit is doing on a hurt song.... and i also don't understand how someone who's supposed to be speaking about or from a god can put "u" in their post and misspell violence... pretty fail if you ask me

  • @TheFlipgirl101 Oh stfu

  • @TheFlipgirl101 in that case, im gonna be the most violent person i can. Guess mma isnt enough, gonna have to step it up a few.......haha

  • @TheFlipgirl101 Maybe you should change your ways and write in proper grammar and spelling. You must be referring to the end of all intelligence.

  • I have to love how the songs they wrote after Vol.1 were pretty much all very crappy

they are good performers, no doubt

but not very talented at writing

(they didnt write the songs for Vol.1 btw, they were given the songs by someone else)

  • @Lyvarious Where do you get your facts?

  • @Lyvarious Id like to know where you heard that. Never ever say anything like that again without links nd solid evidence... Wince has been writing and composing since the age of 13...He is an artist, why are the majority of his songs directly related to his own personal problems and experiences...Why would a band like hurt not right their own songs, it defeats the entire object of there concept of being meaningful and insightful artists...come back with this evidence quickly. That was insulting.

  • @Lyvarious by someone else? Actually.. they did write. Now go to google and read up on them. They used PRODUCERS for help (just like every band in the world). Everyone song of theirs is precisely written with a certain tone/mood. They can even tell you what type of a rift it is. Whether it be, african, blues, a norwegian, or just something random they come up with. You obviously don't know anything about this band, nor music. Obviously.

  • Anyone ever notice that they are saying something behind "na na na de ta da?" When the symbols are stopped you can hear him saying something behind that... (at 5:25). Its only in the left headphone... it almost sounds like something is being played backwards. Someone listen closely and tell me I am not just going crazy...

  • @bashfullfill7423

nah i hear it aswell, i cant figure it out either.

  • @bashfullfill7423 It does lol

  • AMAZING SONG! so emotional and deep :)

  • i love this song!!!

  • i love this song

  • morphine is nothing to get started on once ur hooked its hard to stop

  • @got1320

yeah isnt it a weaker form of heroin?

  • @soldierside365 morphine was used as a painkiller, but it was way too addicted. so scientist extracted some of the usefull ingedrients that still killed the pain (heroin), but that seemed even more addictive

  • my homie overdosed to this song. It hits me right where it hurts

  • god morpheus referring to the roman god of dreams man

  • @kurazmi hm i was woundering why that sounded so fimiliar the black dude from the matrix was named morpheus....the god of dreams eh

  • @kurazmi

he's reffering to morphine(drugs) as morpheus cuz when he's high he's in a dream state which makes him think that the one whos left him is with him so he dont want to lose that state and reffering to morpheus(morphine)to keep him high all the time and give him the real thing

  • i'll take 10 of these 'cause this is obviously the shit and i need to hear it so much....

HURT is the greek translation for a " creation of a masterpiece"... they have the voice of a thousand hurricanes ;)

  • @harkxbp umm Source for Greek definition? I have never heard that before

  • your gay if you dont like this comment ,so decide!!!!!!

  • Man this song is good but kind of depressing

  • this song is amazing! :)

  • Why does tim burton's art come to mind when I hear this band?

  • @thefreshfreedom cause its kinda dark and twisted like tim burton's stuff :D

  • Love the music, kind of got a dark charm.

  • Even after the differences are reconciled.... the insanity maintains control

  • i think i have a new favorite band =P

  • man diss the heroin. Dont do it. I was lucky to break the addiction and the withdrawls sometimes suck... its not worth it man. Tht shit will kill u... if not physically, then for damn sure mentally...

  • @steveguertin Don't give in. And don't give up. Hope for a better life without the negative downs is there. Hang in there. Heroin is a nasty drug that pulls you through hell and you don't need that in your life. You can pull through. Truly amazing song, really brings out the emotions... Hurt are amazing in general. Very underrated band.

  • wow....memories...

this song was a theme, of sorts, for a long time. Gotta love Hurt <3

  • who knows who morpheus actually is? i do:D and no, not the one from the matrix.

  • @ponyxslaystation its a greek god

  • @7m789r its also the name of heroines parent drug morphine, heroin breaks down into morphine i think about 15 minutes after entering the body, so its not surprising hed say morpheus, it make it slightly less obvious what hes talking about

  • @reaperdeth56 Morpheus is the greek god of dreams

  • oh god i love the emotion in this song, it makes me feel like maybe i can get through my heartbreak, my deep depression

  • everytime i hear this song it brings up so many emotions it almost kills me, but i have to feel some kind of emotion even if its the worst... life huh?

  • @steveguertin ditto dude.

  • loveit

  • I <3 this song
