I was a lifer for WM phones until I dropped VZW for the new iPhone... It is by far the best phone anywhere, and any of you guys who haven't really tried it on a Jailbroken phone, don't know what you're missing!

This phone looks like every other terrible impersination of an iphone... They are all horrible and none of them come close to the functionality of iphone.

I am so pissed...I really thought that HTC would make a phone that had a cleaner design. I mean the TOUCH PRO and TOUCH DIAMOND look phenomental. This thing looks ugly and clunky. WTF is the bottom button panel doing there (DISGUSTING). I really hoped ANDRIOD would come out on the HTC OMNI. I HATE APPLE but they have better design. I really hope this was a prototype. The people behind the Danger OS (T-mobile Sidekick) are responsible for Android which probably has something to do with T-mobile being the first to get an Android phone and why this keyboard and device looks so similar to a Sidekick.

Compared to other upcoming HTC devices with keyboard (Sony Xperia & Touch Pro) the HTC Dream seems much thinner. The screen is large, but probably lower res than the other two devices.

The mobile OS war between Google/Apple/Microsoft is going to be fun to watch.

Please. I have the iphone and while I like it, having a physical keyboard is not a bad thing. I also have a blackberry for business. Comparing the two, the iphone is an extremely powerful device generally speaking, but a very inefficient and primitive business phone.

don't get me wrong, i love my iphone for personal and fun use, but i'm keeping my blackberry for business use. maybe "very" is a strong word, but let's see:

- limited multi-tasking due to inability to run programs in background

- no copy/paste

- can't send meeting invites, even with enterprise data plan

- can't use as modem for pcs on trips

- weak battery life inconvenient on business trips, even with wifi, bluetooth, push/fetch, 3G off

- no visual indicator of email

also, no MMS and voicedial

the mms and voicedial doesn't impact my business use as much, but just stated it since I was surprised to not find these features on a smart phone, especially the picture messaging.

anyway, i think the iphone is very cool... but probably still has a way to go to truly match the utilities offered by RIM on their devices.

1) Multitasking: On a phone??? and for what?

2) Copy/Paste -- yes this is the big one, it's coming but I sure don't miss it. The virtual keyboard is easy to retype a name or two one.

3) Meeting Invites: Yes this is your best point. See "Laptop" below.

4) Modem: True, but really unnecessary. The money saved on iphone data plan pays for a nice laptop wireless card. Has FTP.

5) Weak Battery LIfe -- Please! False.

6) Email Visual--I'll take physical and vibratory any day

Imagine on the iphone if instead of the square button was "home" it was "go back one process". thats how the android stack works as far as i'm aware.

3) Ok, so why don't we erase every function the iPhone fills other than basic calling and text messaging (photo galleries, mp3 playing ability, email, browser) and if anyone questions why the iPhone doesn't have these we go "IDIOT THATS WHAT LAPTOPS ARE FOR LOLOLOL"

I guess everyone's experience varies. I sold my Blackberry Pearl and before that a full size Blackberry. Calling the iPhone a "primitive" business tool in comparison does not square with my experience and sounds like the standard line to me.

If ones needs a specialized app that only the blackberry has, then yes it is the better phone. But the same can be said for the iPhone now with its new slew of Apps.

As far as the physical keyboard, I am certainly a faster typer on the iPhone.
