But i wonder WHY Melody keep it for its own self???? We want this song to be delivered for PEOPLE and it should be translated even if it will be under Melody Copyrights but all the world should see how powerful we are and hows EGYPT is BACKING again ISA
So sick of us making songs like this...stop singing/talking/crying about it...if you really want to do something, raise funds, and send them money, do something effective...this will only help the artist and melody TV.
@blackrobe2007 The song is doing something - it gets the message out. It's a beautiful song. Obviously, talking or singing about it is better than the problem being ignored.
@remmytemmy People have been making songs about this for decades now, what changed? You can listen to the song all day, and nothing will ever change. I didn't say the problem should be ignored, I said the problem should be solved in a smart, peaceful, and progressive manner.
@blackrobe2007 Actually, this is how the word gets out. By singing about it, more people will realize how BIG of a problem is. This in turn will lead some people to raise funds and send money. At least the problem is being addressed. It's a powerful song. Sure, there have been songs made about this topic - but I don't see how that's a negative.
@remmytemmy It amazes me what you just said there "By singing about it...", that's how it turns into a negative thing, when it makes people think that a song would result in a solution. On the other hand, if you really want to get the word out, you can make a documentary, including all the facts about it, in a number of different languages and sell it in foreign countries. Making the 100th song to the same people won't help, we know the story already.
@blackrobe2007 yes no one can disagree that we all already know the story very well but making songs like these shows support and shows the palestinians ( like me) that this issue is never forgotten and is still remembered to this day. it saddens me to see you think this way of course raising funds is a great way of helping, and that happens in various ways already, but making a song about it is another way of showing that the palestinian issue is in our hearts.
@RihamBal I'm not against showing support, I'm a Palestinian myself, and I have the uttermost respect to all Palestinians for what they're going through. But the type of support we're showing is what worries me, we now consider a 2 min song showing our people getting slaughtered as the norm. We need to change the way we think of "support". I don't remember the Jewish people making songs about the holocaust, in fact they don't talk about it anymore, they chose to take action!
@blackrobe2007 i find it funny how ur comparing it with the holocaust. first, the time that the holocaust happened music videos were no where how popular they are today. second, the jews took no action, they actually had nothing to do but live through misery and oppression until luck played a role and all the countries got involved and the war erupted and so on, not that they decided to do something about it becasue they didn't, maybe if a WWIII would erupt things could change
@RihamBal I can't compare it to the holocaust and not trying to, killing a human being cannot be compared to anything, and definitely shouldn't be a topic for a song or a music video. My point is STOP making those videos and songs. I also agree with you, other factors have to come into play that we don't control but maybe if we do our part at least in quitting these songs maybe then I say maybe our people can actually pay attention to what REALLY is important.
@blackrobe2007 my point is that we cannot hate on these songs because you assume that they take the focus off the real issue. It's completely the opposite, when things are not too aggressive or seem to not be between the palestinians and the israelies the news minimizes their attention towards the issue as whole since it's quieter now and people drift off and knd of forget about it altogether for a while becasue they assume that things are getting more peaceful now
@blackrobe2007 but the problem lies in the arab's incapacity to realize that the palestinian/israeli struggle is ongoing and is not any better now simply becasue theres less violence between the two parties. My point is that these songs although they are not the greatest form of support, they are still better than nothing and act as a reminder that there are still people struggling everyday although the news might not cover it all the time.
@blackrobe2007 sure no one can deny that donating money and helping out in more touchable forms are much better, but spiritual support through do3a'a and producing such songs also work, if not directly to the people suffering, then to raise the arab unity into feeling sympathy towards the palestinians and all that could hopefully lead to change one day...
@RihamBal All I'm saying is if this song affect someones feelings in any way towards Palestine, then its most likely that someone is not going to give the type of support they need, even though there's a good intention to help, but its just not going to make a huge difference towards their peace. Egypt is one example..after their revolution for democracy, songs and music videos with insane amounts got produced! I don't think Egyptians are lacking singers at the moment, they're lacking leaders.
@blackrobe2007 also there are all kinds of documentaries out there already for people to get educated but lets be realistic, how popular are these documentaries? most people dont have the patience to sit and watch 2 hours about something they already know about. this song evokes emotions and reminds every listenenr that the palestinian issue will continue to be remembered untill all arabs decide to unite for once and fight for palestine
@RihamBal Some documentaries do exist, yes. But most are contaminated with meaningless religious views. Also, what you said "the song evokes emotions" is our biggest problems today as Arabs, we're too dependent on emotions that we got used to the idea of feeling bad about something will help fix it. In my opinion, you can start singing and dancing about it AFTER the issue has been resolved. We live in a world where actions speak louder than words and melodies, and history is filled with examples
@blackrobe2007 No. You know the story about it - but others may not. It still gets the word out. Music appeals to people. Not many people are willing to sit through a documentary.
@remmytemmy I see. It's a sad reality isn't it? Songs are more "appealing" to people when it comes to this issue. Not sure if the families who got their homes demolished would find it appealing. See that's part of the reason why others don't take us seriously, they realize that the reaction will just be making a song, or telling a story. We lack critical thinking and more importantly the proper motivation to be leaders.
@blackrobe2007 But Melody TV provides mostly modern arabic music that not traditional, that like in the west. It's not good. It's expansion of american culture=anticulture
he's basically saying the story of mariam: she lived among all the injustices and dreams of freedom and hoping for things to change. she's lived in pain and bitter days among her family. Mariam is the example of every palestinian that's dreaming to getting back their homeland. A the end of the song the chanting says: "the people want freedom and independence" which is what mariam and every palestinian wishes for. Inshallaha one day, just one day...
