One of the scenes like a fighting sport I remember well while live on Dutch TV! and this games is rough and beautiful!! Greetings and Thnx for the Upload!
There was NO ELBOW. Dackel tried to duck it a bit, and there's the misfortune of the opening in the glass, that's what opened up his face. Lindros did leave his feat slightly, though.
Good clean hit, almost late but definitely legal. Dackell turns like a bitch and makes it worse, if he doesn't turn his head he might just be out of breath, not bleeding.
@clearsh0t Yeah, what do you expect from a European with visor? His visor cut him.Dackel naively thought that Lindros would either put on the brakes or hugged him, which is what Sakic or Jagr would do.
What are these guys talking about? It was not late & Dackel tried to go low which put his head at elbow level. Stand up straight and put your shoulder up against the galss to absorb the hit.
Dackell and all of his euro fag mates need to understand that hockey is a contact sport, was he expecting lindros to peel away and not hit him, these euro fags should just stick to soccer of football as they call it
@rejupi - I think he says "who're you? He says it again right after. Regardless, the intensity on his face is awesome. Stevens was the embarrassment to the clutch and grab league. So glad the dead puck era and Stevens are over.
@horseshoes100 "I gotta tell you, when Lindros gets that ugly on,it is scary."That tells you everything you need to know about who Lindros was. Thanks to idiots around him and their ill-advised suggestion,he abandoned his phenomenal style and started getting targeted.Stevens is a piece of shit, whom Lindros used constantly as his moving target.
@88BigEtrain A fact's a fact, son...he could have been a great one but lacked the heart and toughness. And the chin, as Mr. Stevens so beautifully demonstrated.
@toekneeeyeoweme He was a great one. Then a frustration boiled over for certain players, starting with "Mr. underconditioned"Kasparaitis' hit,as they had no way of stopping him legally but targeting his head.Lacked toughness and heart?Don't be silly.Mr. Stevens' piece of shit kind of hits are the thing of the past. That's a beautiful fact, indeed.
@88BigEtrain Whether the hits are a thing of the past is irrelevant...it was legal when it crippled Eric. He simply lacked the toughness to compete in his era. He would have loved to play in today's game with small guys like Gionta, Gerbe, St. Louis, etc. but he unfortunately for him he played at a time when balls and brawn were key elements of a man's game. Eric fell short.
@toekneeeyeoweme did you ever see him play? Or are you just going by highlights of him being hit? Believe me, even with all the concussions, he gave out WAY more than he received. He was as dominating a player as we've seen. Scored, hit, fought. Did everything. Transcendent player.
@kda5 Yes I saw him many, many nights...he had flashes of greatness but could never put together the whole game. Eric had a mean streak but lacked the physical stamina to sustain it...just another good one who couldn't bring his game to the next level.
@kda5 I agree with you...he was a monster when he was healthy. I watched him in his prime, he was scary. As far as the "next level" someone mentioned, he won the MVP...was there a higher level he was supposed to go to?
@altohart Exactly.Everything the Flyers had accomplished from 1992 to 2000 was thanks to Lindros, period.Even Bobby conceded that Lindros was single handedly responsible for leading the Flyers all the way to Stanley Cup final among others. Not to mention that he turned the struggling franchise into a powerhouse. With the "talent" that surrounded him,he had been able to do mind-boggling things on the ice.The sky had been the limit for the big man until cowards went after his head.
@kda5 I'd say that he's either from the generation that never saw play healthy Lindros or he just simply doesn't want to acknowledge the things that made him the most complete player that has ever stepped on the ice.
@toekneeeyeoweme The point is,that piece of shit Stevens intended to injure Lindros having known his injury report for the past few months. You're not naive enough to think that finishing Lindros' career after suffering three consecutive concussions within just a few weeks with yet another hit wasn't Stevens' goal, are you?Lindros was taking over the series, and the Devils knew that Lindros was the only possible threat.Again, your comment about toughness is just ludicrous and laughable.
@88BigEtrain I'm sick of your illogical bullshit. You're on every Lindros video crying about the hit from Stevens that was 100% LEGAL. End of story. Your argument does not hold water. Lindros could dish it out but couldn't take it. I know for a fact that you are either Eric himself or his mom because nobody else would make it their life's obsession to defend a player who no one else even misses.
@toekneeeyeoweme Your comments sound more and more like those of other Lindros' haters-out of touch with reality. You're blinded with hatred,I get that. You're not the first, you won't be the last. The hit was a piece of vicious, premeditated shit by a frustrated coward, who was owned by Lindros every time the two battled. The evidence is well documented. The last two sentences of your comment are a carbon copy of people who can't stand the fact that Lindros'll remain in fans' minds.Just admit it,man.
@88BigEtrain He was easy to hate...refusing to play in the OHL and then the Quebec embarassment...good riddance. Check out his hit on Dackell against the boards...FAR dirtier than any check Stevens ever delivered. You're serioulsy delusional.
@toekneeeyeoweme A far dirtier hit than Stevens'?You're trying to make me laugh. There's no comparison with that Stevens' garbage whatsoever.Dackel was expecting Lindros to put on the brakes or perhaps to make a turn away. But Lindros was no European or Sakic type of player.Only because Lindros was a superstar already, the issue of playing closer to his home came up.It happens all the time...Nordiques was a francophone, sorry ass franchise.Lindros=Flyers,Flyers=Lindros.Forever.
@88BigEtrain So when Lindros boards a guy, it's good hockey but when Stevens DROPS Lindros with a 100% LEGAL hit, he's dirty ? You need medication and a good therapist, son. You are lost in space, blind with infatuation for your hero...christ, look at your name. E train?!!! I'm going out on a limb here and suggesting that you are gay ? Not that there's anything wrong with that but come on, your love for a guy who was of questionable character and moderate success is just creepy and weird...
@toekneeeyeoweme The level of intelligence in your latest comment makes me wonder about your mental state...Anyway,let's go straight to the point, which you entirely miss as always.Yeah, the difference is in that Dackell knew about Lindros all along, hence he said it himself afterwards, hence he put himself in the worst possible position by dropping his head. And his visor made the matter even worse for him by cutting him.As I'm reading your comment again, a visit to a doctor wouldn't hurt you.
Legal? He hits high and does or comes very close to leaving his feet. But Stevens was doing this all the time and was rarely penalized. Plus Lindros was pissed because he probably could have had the puck it if wasn't for all of the interference so the Sens had something coming.
how can anyone not like lindros he was a great player, big hitter, would fight, and didn't wanna play for a gay ass fucking french team...im my opinion he's a rad dude
Lindros had a habit of targetting players heads, notice how on the Dackel hit his forearm pushes he head of Dackel into the glass. Dirty dirty whore he was.
Sorry Messier, Lemieux,Gretzky,Orr,Howe,Forsberg,Kurri,Selänne,Sundin. Big Eric, The best player to ever play the game, if you look at skating, shooting, stickhandling and power. Sad that he could go a little overboard sometimes and hurt people. But when he used his size and strenght to his advatage in a good way he was unstoppable.
@riffter1970 you mean finishing your check to rip someone´s head? no offense if that was by the shoulder to the shoulder, but this was elbow - head s**t
@adam2664 1st Look at in slow motion min 1:34-1:37 perfect angle and Lindros did not raise his elbow. 2nd the commentating is a hometown. 3rd Did he leave his feet sure , but not that much, not enough to warrant it a cheap shot. And the professionals ( the league) deemed it a legal hit. Remember, it was no big deal for the league to hand out suspensions, so if they felt it deemed a suspension they would have issued the suspension. You would never try to absorb the hit, the way Dackel does here.
@riffter1970 well, exactly in that slomo I can see the elbow straight to the head of Dackell´s. Im not trying to troll you or make any offensive comments, I hate it on youtube, just trying to discuss and share my opinion. &about not handling suspension by the officials. You know, there are many cases where the suspension is not handled and still it´s terrible foul. I don´t care about commentating by the way,I watched this at work, without sound:) for me absolute disrespect to human being from88
Fuck Lindros he is a pussy. You know who was the strongest guy on the ice that knocked Lindros twice on the ice and gave him to many concussions?? Scott Stevens was the strongest defenseman on the ice that knocked alot of people off their feet on the ice. They called Scott Stevens the rock cause he was strong best defenseman in the NHL for the Devils. I miss old hockey like this and Gary Thorne. ESPN and NHL need to stop with the bullshit and bring hockey back to ESPN where it belongs FUCKVERSUS
@tonebeatz24 Stevens was maybe the strongest defenseman but Lindros was the strongest forward. If he didnt get those unlucky concussion he might be still dominating the league. And whose career ended in a concussion too, yes Stevens.
@tonebeatz24 No no no, Every playoff game for the next ten years will be nationally televised on NBC's network of channels...including NBC, VS, USA, MSNBC, etc...id rather have that than a game every thursday. ESPN blows with hockey. And to Versus' credit...they have much improved. I would rather be the best sport on the challenging sports network then be the pitied sport on the best.
@wick2107 Yea, but who made the NHL?? My answer to that is Gary Thorne is who made the NHL grow more and made it big in America. He was one of the best broadcaster that made the NHL more exciting to watch which he brought more energy to the game. He is still the best broadcaster which now he broadcast College Hockey and MLB. How are you going to make the sport grow more by broadcasting it on a crappy network like Versus?? Not everyone carries Versus... Nobody watches it... Versus SUCKS.
It was a hit that was on the line. It was just finishing his check but the elbow came up a bit. Dakkel or however you spell it he ducked to low and he put his head at risk.
clean hit? no way he could have defended himself anybody who says this is a clean hit is nuts. you cant hit a guy from behind like that, wheres scott stevens when you need him
He scored, he hit, he stuck up for himself, played with a chip on his shoulder. He was a complete player that gave his all (literally).. I know of 2 others people who acted like him at the draft, a guy name Mario and a guy named John Elway
Neither Elway nor Marino rejected the team they were drafted by, what are you talking about.
Elway and Marino are respectable, Lindros isn't, he was a huge failure and it centers around the bad karma he created for himself by openly saying he didn't want to play for the Nords.
You have a chance to make a ton of money playing a kids game, it isn't a right, it's a privaledge and he acted like an asshole.
Elway and Marino could also take a hit, Lindros...well, we all know.
You said "2 other guys acted like him at the draft, a guy named Marino and a guy named John Elway."
So you did mention Marino, the only thing he refused to play was pro-baseball and it was for the Royals.
That crap about the Colts is nothing like what Lindros did, the Colts wanted to draft Elway and he said no. Lindros didn't start to pull this crap until mommy and daddy stepped in and said he could make a TON more money playing in America, for an American team.
I said Elway and Mario. Re-read it. Lindros said he didnt want to play for Quebec, before the draft. Same thing as Elway. Elway threatened to play baseball if they didnt trade him. It had nothing to do with America/Canada it was playing in Quebec. He was an 18 year old kid, I suppose you didnt take advice from your parents when you were that young? I also suppose you would like to do the exact same job for less money in a place you dont like? Why didnt he play in QMJHL then? duuuh
I don't know what you are talking about, Elway and Marino NEVER 1) told the Broncos or Dolphins they did not want to play for them for personal reasons and 2) Never ended it with a backhand slap by not wanting to put that teams jersey on.
Elway and Marino had very long careers, they could take a ton of beatings and work through the pain. Lindros had a shortened career and was made of glass.
Can't believe you chose those two as an example, that is just stupid.
Elway was drafted by the COlts and refused to play for them. And i didnt say anything about Marino. Lindros had concussions and was hit at a higher speed than Elway. I love elway, but he pulled the same thing. So if you are gonna say something is stupid, learn what your talking about. I said Mario, who FYI wouldnt go up when he was drafted
@lindrosboss Lindros is an example of what goes around, comes around. He thought he was Gods gift to hockey and that he was bigger than the sport, which you never are no matter how good you are. When he flipped Quebec the bird, the hockey gods flipped it right back at him in the form of no championship/s, and serious, continuous concussions.
@wick2107 Stevens hit was not the hardest ever, you better take a look at some old time hockey before you start spouting about hardest hits. Lindros was soft, just like his Brother and had no business being in the NHL.
@wick2107 Stevens was a shoulder checker, which is a-lot easier then Hip checking and not as lethal I might add. Stevens had the easier of the two, I would still take Denis Potvin over Stevens any day of the week.
Its called playing hockey. He was big, strong and skate very well so he could hit well. His hit was a clean hit. He just finished his check. I am sure Lindros never hit anyone to injure them but he sure hit them to make them not play as well against him. He played to win, you do that when you want to win. I am not as big as Lindros so I do get hit and feel it too in College. Its a part of hockey and a part that makes it even more exciting. Grow a pair and take a hit or two
@koroshjj Played hockey into my sophmore year old college in the early 90's, taking second place in the Pan American games..........I know what hockey is.
It sounds like you never saw him play, he was absolutely dirty. He was known for hitting very late, slashing and slew footing, the guy was a jerk off and one of the big reasons why everyone took a run at him.
I should grow a pair because you don't know what you are talking about? That makes sense.. : /
@mrceebees14 I've been following hockey and going to games since the mid 80's. So if you aren't at least in your late 30's, you need not apply when it comes to knowing more than me.
@mrceebees14 Was a bitch?Give me some examples.I'll look forward to them.Everyone's bitch-hmm...It was actually the other way around, dude. Then, frustrated assholes led by Kasparaitis and Stevens figured out the only way how to stop the big guy-target any athlete's most vulnerable spot-the head. They didn't own anybody except one thing-a term called "coward".Obviously, there was a reason behind the hit.You just need to see it.
@lindrosboss nah I know she doesnt like small little boy cocks like yours. Now watch out for those bullies at school, you dont want to be in locker with undies again do you? :D
i was watching this game, dackell ducked down and when lindros hit him his face hit the partition and his visor and the partition cracked him open. lindros and the flyers got a little shaken up and the senators pumped in like two goals quickly after this hit
@lindrosboss Rolf we owned his bitch ass and the rest of the legion of doom line in 97 bunch of pussys central divion owns u guys happend in 97 and in 09 go suck a dick hoe

ESPN and NHL need to stop with the bullshit and bring hockey back to ESPN where it belongs FUCKVERSUS
tonebeatz24 10 months ago
@tonebeatz24 Stevens was maybe the strongest defenseman but Lindros was the strongest forward. If he didnt get those unlucky concussion he might be still dominating the league. And whose career ended in a concussion too, yes Stevens.
1banez 10 months ago
@tonebeatz24 No no no, Every playoff game for the next ten years will be nationally televised on NBC's network of channels...including NBC, VS, USA, MSNBC, etc...id rather have that than a game every thursday. ESPN blows with hockey. And to Versus' credit...they have much improved. I would rather be the best sport on the challenging sports network then be the pitied sport on the best.
wick2107 10 months ago

@2muchfro
It was a clean hit, that's why there was no penalty or suspension. It was ugly, unnecessary, and vicious; but it was legal.

joesakic70 1 year ago
No love for Lindros at all, he was a bitch when he was at the draft and he was everyone's bitch when he started to get his bell rung like the Vatican.
But Dackel saw him coming and even tried to brace himself, Lindros just had wayyyy to much energy in that hit for him to absorb and not get hurt.
mrceebees14 2 years ago
everyones bitch? come on, he played the game right.
BradyMVP66 1 year ago
Define right?
mrceebees14 1 year ago
He scored, he hit, he stuck up for himself, played with a chip on his shoulder. He was a complete player that gave his all (literally).. I know of 2 others people who acted like him at the draft, a guy name Mario and a guy named John Elway
BradyMVP66 1 year ago
Neither Elway nor Marino rejected the team they were drafted by, what are you talking about.
Elway and Marino are respectable, Lindros isn't, he was a huge failure and it centers around the bad karma he created for himself by openly saying he didn't want to play for the Nords.
You have a chance to make a ton of money playing a kids game, it isn't a right, it's a privaledge and he acted like an asshole.
Elway and Marino could also take a hit, Lindros...well, we all know.
mrceebees14 1 year ago
You said "2 other guys acted like him at the draft, a guy named Marino and a guy named John Elway."
So you did mention Marino, the only thing he refused to play was pro-baseball and it was for the Royals.
That crap about the Colts is nothing like what Lindros did, the Colts wanted to draft Elway and he said no. Lindros didn't start to pull this crap until mommy and daddy stepped in and said he could make a TON more money playing in America, for an American team.
mrceebees14 1 year ago
I said Elway and Mario. Re-read it. Lindros said he didnt want to play for Quebec, before the draft. Same thing as Elway. Elway threatened to play baseball if they didnt trade him. It had nothing to do with America/Canada it was playing in Quebec. He was an 18 year old kid, I suppose you didnt take advice from your parents when you were that young? I also suppose you would like to do the exact same job for less money in a place you dont like? Why didnt he play in QMJHL then? duuuh
BradyMVP66 1 year ago
I don't know what you are talking about, Elway and Marino NEVER 1) told the Broncos or Dolphins they did not want to play for them for personal reasons and 2) Never ended it with a backhand slap by not wanting to put that teams jersey on.
Elway and Marino had very long careers, they could take a ton of beatings and work through the pain. Lindros had a shortened career and was made of glass.
Can't believe you chose those two as an example, that is just stupid.
mrceebees14 1 year ago
Elway was drafted by the COlts and refused to play for them. And i didnt say anything about Marino. Lindros had concussions and was hit at a higher speed than Elway. I love elway, but he pulled the same thing. So if you are gonna say something is stupid, learn what your talking about. I said Mario, who FYI wouldnt go up when he was drafted

@mrceebees14 that's the big bitch go to die ass hole!!
lindrosboss 1 year ago
@lindrosboss Lindros is an example of what goes around, comes around. He thought he was Gods gift to hockey and that he was bigger than the sport, which you never are no matter how good you are. When he flipped Quebec the bird, the hockey gods flipped it right back at him in the form of no championship/s, and serious, continuous concussions.
He dug his own grave.

@mrceebees14 Lindros got his bell rung by Stevens...the hardest hitter ever in the league. He definitely was not a bitch though.
wick2107 10 months ago
@wick2107 Stevens hit was not the hardest ever, you better take a look at some old time hockey before you start spouting about hardest hits. Lindros was soft, just like his Brother and had no business being in the NHL.
mrceebees14 10 months ago
@mrceebees14 that specific hit was not...but stevens was the hardest hitter ever.
wick2107 10 months ago
@wick2107 Stevens was a shoulder checker, which is a-lot easier then Hip checking and not as lethal I might add. Stevens had the easier of the two, I would still take Denis Potvin over Stevens any day of the week.
mrceebees14 10 months ago
@mrceebees14
Grow a pair and take a hit or two
koroshjj 8 months ago
@koroshjj Played hockey into my sophmore year old college in the early 90's, taking second place in the Pan American games..........I know what hockey is.
It sounds like you never saw him play, he was absolutely dirty. He was known for hitting very late, slashing and slew footing, the guy was a jerk off and one of the big reasons why everyone took a run at him.
I should grow a pair because you don't know what you are talking about? That makes sense.. : /
