This is the choreography that Russian companies always use for Don Q, and as someone pointed out, it's the original Petipa. I prefer it to the other version that we normally see in the West, but neither version is necessarily a great vehicle for the ballerina; it's one of the least interesting in the classical repertoire. I love Kitri's Act 1 variation, however - nice and fiery.

The fan is not necessary in this variation! Ekaterina Maksimova, russian ballet star, for exemple, danced this variation without a fan, and many other ballerines too

Whoever gave this lovely video a 1 star rating obviously does not enjoy dance. Ksenia dances well and is very talented. I suspect that there is a person who visits this site and mine who is 'sour grapes'. Anyway, I am giving 5 stars.
