If the eyes are the window to the soul David at 4:06 looked so sad, understandably so! I think that was Mr Carin on keyboard from the Pink Floyd tours.
Do I detect Beatle influences, the start is a lot like "I want you (she's so heavy)" and the drumming it the end could be straight from "Tomorrow never knows".
Terrific song and performance, given the circumstances an excellent tribute !
Excellent. Gilmour is a god of music. It just makes me sad that I will never live to see a wonderful performance by Gillmour and Wright. I'm hoping David will have another tour soon so that I can appreciate one of his live performances just one time in my life.
Yes, He's the BEST, the GREATEST, the HOTTEST, EVER. I LOVE HIM...But I'm in Italy, he's in London. ....Thanks, Dave, for the joy you bring in my life...
Oh these old Floyd songs have an amazing charm... This album is so beautiful. Too bad that the band members now tend to forget this era. It's not either Syd's period or Dark Side of the Moon. There was a lot in-between. "Saucerful of Secrets", "Careful with that Axe", "The Narrow Way", "Set the controls", "Embryo", "Grantchester Meadows", "Cymbaline" and of course "Echoes"... These songs are equal or in my own personal opinion better than both "Dark Side of the Moon" or "The Wall"...
@iamthebyron I agree, but do you not think that feeze has melted a little since they have got older and the passing of dear friends such as Richard and Syd? I remember the days when the despised each other but you see them now performing together. 'Seemingly' they get together as often as they can now. I think they have both come to realize that without one another they would never have reached the dizzy heights they did/have.
@TheLegend313 -- You're right that the freeze has thawed, but sadly I think their collaborations in the future will continue to be rare (if at all). Gilmour himself describes their relationship as "not unfriendly" but calls it "almost nonexistent. I played on Roger's Wall show here one night a few months ago, and I haven't seen or heard a word from him since." [Rolling Stone, 10/13/11] They do seem to recognize the other's contributions, though, and "not unfriendly" is certainly progress!
@iamthebyron Yeah dude, I totally agree with you. I don't think they will ever collaborate again. It's a shame as well as they made some on the greatest albums that have ever been. But I guess nothing lasts forever as they say. Still it doesn't stop us PF die-hard fans living in hope. Lol! Respect to you dude! :)
One of the few good songs on "Saucerful Of Secrets." and a fitting tribute to his late friend. You know, Roger Waters should have been the one "kicked to the curb"in 1980 instead of Richard Wright. We would have been spared that vinyl travesty known as "The Final Cut."! Roger Waters paranoid ramblings and focus on his rotten childhood didn't make for a pleasant listening experience!

The last Floyd song I ever expected to see ever played live again, and a lovely tribute as well.

I love seeing Gilmour play these early tracks. It reinforces the genius of those early songs.

A wonderful tribute, and nice to see it here on Roger's channel despite the freeze that's settled in between him and David.
