  • I'am from belgium and I dont understand why he had not played in europe ! Great striker !

  • Contrary to what is said in one of the comments the Malaysia v Japan Merdeka cup match was shown on TV . I remember Kamamoto's goal vividly. I wish we have the film of the match. If i remember correctly a very young Yasuhiko Okudera the other top Japanese player also played in the match.

  • Malaysia in the 1960s to the 1980s hosted one of the most prestigious and largest annual football tournaments in Asia. Although it still does so its prestige is no where near those years. In 1972 or 73 a full strength Japanese team was sent to compete and in front a sell-out crowd took on host Malaysia, at that time one of the giants of Asian football. Although Japan lost 3-1 Kamamoto silenced the home crowd with the opening goal of a fantastic match with a sublime scissor kick goal.

  • I'm also from Malaysia. Agreed with Giabph, Kunishige Kamamoto is a great player ever produced by Japan in 1970's. He was a member of Japanese team who took part in Merdeka Cup. At that time I was in Standard 3 (if I'm not mistaken), I read in the newspaper how he had scored a beautiful goal (bicycle kick). The newspaper only shown the image of him, unlucky the TV station could not make it in TV. The name "Kamamoto" is still in my memories.

  • I'm from Malaysia...my father tell me about this player ..then i search in youtube..well ..he's great..
