This is such a riot. I am actually a Diamond level at to major hotel chains. The status gets you art way, but being friendly and respectful gets you even more. The people that work at the current hotel I stay are great people.
People who book rooms for next-to-nothing on Hotwire and Priceline think they should get the same type of treatment. Whatever happened to YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR??????
OMFG I deal with this every single Notre Dame football game. My hotel is 3 miles from Notre Dame and guests always try to check in and act like this. UGH
I feel liberated someone out there understands what it's like to work as a front desk agent. I'd rather do yard work during a Las Vegas summer than put up with people's shit all day long again. I've never seen so many adults act like little children... I've never worked as a server, I can only imagine what that's like.

Another booked a smoking room, and when she checked in, said she wanted nonsmoking. When I asked her if she had booked the smoking room, she told me yes, because that's all that was showing on the website. God people are stupid...
Just had to watch this after a IHG Platinum member (checking out at 5 p.m.) started b****ing us out for getting a half day charge during our busiest week of the year. And yes, he was in a suite. Made us all feel better, as he at least didn't have a giraffe.

Like, literally, line for line, I have had similar conversations with platinum members who think their shit doesn't stink. And what I hate the most is that these people get their "hard earned points" by staying in city business hotels that their company is paying for and come to resorts like mine to spend it claiming they are "valued customers of the company". And they spent almost nothing! I've had someone staying in the resort for a whole month paying for 3 (!) rooms with points and spending a total of 1500€ in extras when our average daily rate is 400€!!! Valued guests my ass!
@athadj Those people stay in your chain's city hotels BECAUSE of resorts like yours. In other words, you work at the "carrot" that business travelers chase after. If anything, they're paying for their reward stay by keeping their business at your chain, and your chain builds out properties like yours so they can enjoy the benefits, relax, and remember why they stay at that chain the other 100 nights a year they're away from their family.

oh my god, the BIGGEST pet peeve of mine is when a rewards member guest comes to the desk with a complaint and when they do not get what they want, they give you the speech on how they are such member level and "stay 1,000 nights a year in your hotels and travel all the time." When they give me this speech, I just want to punch them and say I dont care! It doesn't matter if you are a Diamond member, this is the same answer you are going to get from me, my manager, and from corporate, deal w/ it!

I use to be the Loyalty Ambassador an Omni Hotel in Texas and dealt with the Select Guests (our version on 'diamond guests') and all levels, even gold who ppl could sign up before they came to the hotel demanded upgrades when they've never stayed with us before.
They book through priceline then demand they get points for the stay. Then email their complaint to the CEO and/or rewards center that the agent checking them in was 'rude'.

Sadly, this has become more frequent. People have just become ridiculous and have major entitlement issues. I often find myself talking with Diamond Members that do not seem to understand that the nicer you are, the more we will like you and want to give you all the complimentary goodies. Sometimes I think, "what would happen to these people if something REAL happened in their lives?" Oh well, part of the hospitality game I guess.

I only work at a 3 and a half star small boutique hotel so nobody has ever demanded a helicopter pad or accomodations for a Giraffe with me at the front desk. Sadly, those are the only two guest comments in this skit that I don't have to deal with on a daily basis. we had hockey players who threw a huge fit because we wouldn't give them a 4:00/4:30 check out because we were sold out. They literally told me "if you can't accomodate us we'll go somewhere else" like it really bugged me.

The hotels are also to blame. They created and marketed this "Diamond Member" stuff. If they had instead created stuff like "Rusty Old Nail Member" and marketed things differently the members wouldn't behave like this... But their hotels might not be as full ;).

What do you mean I can't Check in at 7am? Why whould I pay for the night before? I am a Blue Member and should be guaranteed early check in. I also want a 9pm check out since my flight is not untill midnight. Umm, Duh. Moron!

Sadly, this has become more frequent. People have just become ridiculous and have major entitlement issues. I often find myself talking with Diamond Members that do not seem to understand that the nicer you are, the more we will like you and want to give you all the complimentary goodies. Sometimes I think, "what would happen to these people if something REAL happened in their lives?" Oh well, part of the hospitality game I guess.

I only work at a 3 and a half star small boutique hotel so nobody has ever demanded a helicopter pad or accomodations for a Giraffe with me at the front desk. Sadly, those are the only two guest comments in this skit that I don't have to deal with on a daily basis. I'd love to create and post my own video but I am currently busy assisting our bellmen storing the bags of the bowling team who have just arrived and were prommised free porterage.

we had hockey players who threw a huge fit because we wouldn't give them a 4:00/4:30 check out because we were sold out. They literally told me "if you can't accomodate us we'll go somewhere else" like it really bugged me.

@achildbyfire I had a guy come in to check in at 11, but he wasn't a jerk but he said "I thought I'd try to check in now because I had to come early for my client and sometimes they let platinum members check in early" and this is all that ran through my head "but I'm a diamond guest" and our checkout isn't until noon lol

The hotels are also to blame. They created and marketed this "Diamond Member" stuff. If they had instead created stuff like "Rusty Old Nail Member" and marketed things differently the members wouldn't behave like this... But their hotels might not be as full ;).

This is the funniest thing EVER!! OMG, all of my fellow hotel workers knows this scenario oh too well! The 2nd worse is when people call from 2 states over and ask you directions to the hotel from their house!! Do they think we are a damn walking MapQuest? - "ma'am I have no idea how to get here from Alaska-I'm in Atlanta!!! And NO just because you are a "diamond member" does not mean you get a reduced rate! I am a gold rewards member at GNC, yet I do not walk in and ask for free vitamins! I pay
