I always assumed the show was supposed to be played for nothing but laughs? Has anyone seen how many of the ridiculous comic stories that cropped up during the 50s and 60s? I always thought the show was played in the same way? Hilarious thing is that there were STILL people out there that wanted this show pulled because of their morals being outraged! I love this Batman. Not interested in modern "dark and serious" Batman. This is how it should always have been played :D
im sick and tired of all the fans who say batman should allway be dark.thats not the batman i enjoy, batman SHOULD have remained bright, campy and more importantly fun, even after the 50s,60s and early 70s had gone.but the pure batfans couldnt stand the light.
the actors so rite for the roles but the series itself was too childish, if it was darker and was little less cheezy then batman wud've been as famous if not more than he is now back then.
I think William Dozier was apprehensive about making a straight series featuring a hero who dressed like a bat fighting crime with a teenage boy who dresses like Robin Hood, thinking people would laugh at it, so he turned the tables and made the humor deliberate. Too bad - as good as it is, it would've been fantastic if it was in a more serious vein.
i don't think the league of catholic decency or whoever would allow that to happen, they freaked out whenever anything was slightly questionable but it probably would have been alot more awesome and famous if it was more serious and not just a joke, it's probably why the show failed towards its end
Agreed - the humor was very subtle at first, then as it became a hit, it wasn't broken, but they still decided to fix it and it became a parody of itself by season 3.
yeah its a real shame, it would have been awesome to see something deeper but it would have been beyond its time and i think burt ward and i think adam west too wanted it to be a joke and preferred it that way
ffs hurry up and release it on DVD already

@imheretoraisehell316 @imheretoraisehell316 but that was point. it was made to be "campy". and in my opinion, that's why its so great.

Thanks - I realize there've been little snippets here and there on this site, and I wasn't sure if this one was uploaded, so I thought I'd chance it.
