ha ha, the cat gets poop on their head the next time the use the litter robot after a nice juicy one flops along the mechanical guide surface. maybe the company can sell expensive disposable hats for the cat to wear while it's bumping it's head in smeared poop.
I narrowed it to the litter robot or the Petmate Purrforma. I just can't get the site of a messy poo smear on the inside hood so my kitty will come out with his head smelling like......So I got the Purrforma...not perfect but for 179.00 it works fine. No dumped litter on the floor, as with the littermaid elite.....my first mistake!
have one of these. It is the best thing invented so far. I would never want a regular litter box after using one of these and they have them pretty much perfected now. I would definitely suggest it. They are great if you can tuck away in the garage. As long as you maintain it properly there is no odor anymore and that is well worth the price.
Had the littermaid and it was more of a pain than a regular box. Litter Robot is awesome. I'm very happy with it. I can't easily find someone to scoop poop when I'm out of town for a couple days. No clogged rakes, no special containers for disposal, no plumbing hookup, no smell, it just works and works perfect everytime.
Yet Another Automatic Litter Disposal Unit. Trash dumps all over the world are filled with this kinda junk. What's wrong with a scoop? Works every time.
What's wrong with a scoop? How about scooping is a pain in the ass.
What exactly are the trash dumps filled with, the device or the bags that contain the waste? What do you put the waste in after you scoop? I'm interested to hear your enviromentally friendly solution.
The mechanisms, of course. All the pet magazines and kitty krap katalogs have machines like this listed, but I don't know of a single person whose automatic liter scooper thingy still works after just a short period of operation. This is not to say that it can't be done, but rather it hasn't yet been done successfully.
And as for dumping: I used to toss the waste into the garden plot my mother kept in the back yard. Since that has gone to seed I now toss it out with the remainder of the trash. I notice that the vid here doesn't address that issue at all, since the question is out of scope for the presentation.
I bought a littermaid that broke within a month. I took it back to Petsmart and exhanged it for a new one, which has lasted 5-6 years and is working fine.
You're point is spot on that these things are typically designed poorly and break easy. However, the device shown in this video is an exception, the reviews on this thing are amazing, although the price is a shocker ($300).

Still very happy with mine. Props to those that are dedicated to playing in the litter box but I'm never turning back.
If speed is an issue you're probably feeding your cat way too much. lol

When they say slowly, they are not kidding. It's really really slow. It takes several minutes to do it's rotation.
Useless machine for lazy people who can't be bothered to take proper care of their cat.
The machine still needs to be cleaned. It takes an eternity for the thing to turn.

I have 2 cats and it needs to be changed once a week. Still very happy with it.

WHAT? You would leave you cat alone in the house for a week?
That's outrageous.

@realisticHomeboy no not now, think that wud be a bit cruel he will get very bored... i took him to a catery.

You can leave a regular litter box for a couple of days. It's not a problem.

Oh and sadly, an automatic litter box is one of those addictive things that, once you start using it, it seems you can't live without it.
