I also mix shea butter & jojoba oil for moisture. I love it. I see a lot of natural sistas use coconut oil as well. I've never used coconut oil, which I'm surprised cuz of the PJ (product junkie) in me. What are the benefits of coconut oil?
Coconut oil is an excellent conditioner for the hair and scalp. It provides essential proteins required for nourishing and regrowing damaged hair. It's also light, so your hair doesn't feel weighed down and greasy.
brookiecookie73: I'm not sure if the vegetable glycerin would be too oily for you. Mix some and spritz it on a small section of your hair to test it. It'll probably work, just use it sparingly.
I like your hair alot! Do you notice that the cornrows help it grow as well? Yeah, that creme of nature has some bad things in it still. Have you tried anything natural? Just because it doesn't have SLS in it does NOT mean it is ok btw. I got a book from Barnes & Noble that lists all ingredients and what they do. It is a great book to have!
Reshon30, I was wondering why my hair was still breaking off so much so I did more co-washes and less shampoo and BAM less breakage! I'm kind of embarassed it's taken me so long to figure that out, but hey, at least I know now. Thanks for the comment!
How often do you co-wash? I thank God have never had any breakage and my hair is super thick. Don't worry i am still learning too! I guess you never stop.
you are super pretty! i'm terrified to go compltetely natural (im mixed so my hair wont really fro even if i want it it; i relax it every few months) you gave some great tip & im gonna try that shea butter & jojoba oil :)
it is SUCH a beautiful thing that more Black women are going natural and really learning how to take care of our hair like we should. it's very liberating i think
I transitioned for about 5 months and I had braids for about 3 of those months. I had some the 1st three months of transitioning and when I took those out, I wore cornrows in the front (to disguise my new growth). I wore that style for about 3 weeks and after I took those out, I just wore headbands to conceal the new growth. When I couldn't take the madness anymore I did the big chop. My transition was pretty easy. Check out my vid "my transition to natural hair" to see the styles.
Thank you, I just took a weave out, and it did not agree with my hair at all, so I know I can noy do that. I'll try braiding it my self. But now my ends are so dry. I live in an area that does not have much products for natural black hair. So I'll be buy some ideas which I heard is very good from Carols Daughter.
Nice vid, thanks for sharing your product information. It's always nice to see what other people are using on their natural hair as this also helps me to get some ideas of what I could use on my hair.

i have looser ringlet-y curls and also use the tui oil (i only need a little-like the size of two quarters).
Would the glycerin and water mix be too heavy or oily for my hair type?
