@TinkGerman Mucho gracias, mi amiga! Thanks about it for my Spanish, but in any language, I sure do appreciate you dropping by and commenting, but most of all, I really appreciate the music you share with us. Here's to a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, Tink. ~ Mark
Nice boogie oogie Mark! thats a cool sounding Little geetar! Somehow I missed this one. sorry. Your uploads are supposed to go straight to my email. I dont think its working right. I wonder how many more I missed! Anyways I digress. Im doing the hoochiechoo listening to this! Love that Mouth solo! The Kazoo would have worked great there to! Most enjoyable treat!
@coolanddark Yeah, Dan, those little baritone ukes are a kick to play. I know what you mean about missing postings of my youtube buds. Youtube does so much, I had to complain, but it would be cool if we could get those updates in a timely manner. Anyway, in the meantime, keep up the hoochiechoo (is that legal?). All the best. ~ Mark
@agrlfmtx Thanks, T. If you are looking for other Gene Autry songs to do, you might want to give Back in the Saddle Again a try. Great old tune that always makes me want to saddle up the arm of the sofa and ride until Mom tells me it's time for supper. All the best. ~ Mark
Late to the party again!!! Sure sounds sweet this morning, friend! Looks like everyone has been lining up to listen too! Wonderful performance...marked with your distinctive style! Very pretty! ;) NAncy
@nllleonard Thank you, Miss NAncy. Seems like the party is never ending here on youtube. So many great open houses to drop in on for a look-see (or is that listen-hear?). Glad you liked the uke. I'm trying to convince Guy about the virtues of the little feller, but he's having none of it. Maybe you can put in a good in for me with him (ha!). Been a tough winter so far and getting colder. At least the sun is shinning for the moment. Stay warm and stay happy. ~ Mark
Nice box You got there pardner...makin' it sound good too:) Did you see True Grit? See you got the State sign goin too...have a feelin come March they will be playin just fine....Nothin like a cowboy tune to get the party started:)
@reliablebow Thanks, amigo mio. Those little ukes can be a load of fun to play. Got to the ol' picture show to see True Grit last week. Loved it. Never really cared for the original (does that make me un-American?!), but thought the casting in the new one was right on the money. Been a tough year for my Spartans. Lots of turmoil and too many dadgummed distractions. Holding out hope for making the playoffs, though. Just wouldn't seem like March without them in it. Take good care. ~ Mark
@onewomanandsomesongs Thank you, Janet, the welcome mat is always out for you here. Yep, that lip thingy was fun to do, you just don't want to be sitting down front when it's going on, unlses you brought a rain slicker along for protection. Hope all is well. ~ Mark
Ah, good ole Bobby Bowden. He was the coach at my pa's alma mater. He was a heck of a coach, if you ask me. Love this, and love the uke, Mark. Good times, and a nice, relaxed vibe on this one. I need to have you over at the next gathering around the fire pit -- suburban style, that is :-)
@rbseaver Yeah, I always liked Bobby, too, although I'm a Michigan State boy. Do they have cold beer around that fire pit? Either way, I'm in. Hey, I've got a brother in San Antonio. Karen and I are thinking of heading down there later this year sometime. I told her, if we do, I'd like to take her to Austin because it is such a great town. Lots of ifs, but IF we do get down there, I could be up for buying the first round. All the best. ~ Mark
@manriq47 Sounds like a plan to me. Our fire pit usually has beer, conversation, and good times flowing. Austin is great -- plenty of places to eat and drink, and have a good time in general. Even if we don't run into each other, you'll find plenty of great stuff to do down here. There are a few good attractions in the surrounding areas as well.
@rbseaver Thanks, Rob. Although we don't have a fire pit, you know, if you ever get up this way, we'll have a cold waiting for you. Ditto for conversation and good times. ~ Mark
@oldnrone Yep, tough to keep that little critter down. Come on now and admit it, you aren't really a uke-hater. I know deep down you have a warm place in your heart for all things ukie. Oh yeah, I can see you with a wee uke on your lap. Speaking of digging out, looks like that's what we are going to be doing today. Got about 10 inches of snow last night and more to come throughout the day. Nice to be retired and not worry about getting anywhere other than to the mailbox and back. ~ Mark
@dusstead I think some folks would be opting to foot tap the uke into the next county. I've never been accused of having good taste, but I always try to have fun. Cheers. ~ Mark
@CharmedQuarkZ99 Thank you,Richard. Do you still have your uke? Would love to hear you post one with it. Like a banjo, some songs just seem right on a uke. Take care. ~ Mark
@kb1056 Oh hell yeah, it's too dadgummed cold to be playing a regular trumpet! Keeping my fingers crossed for our boys. Any magic left in Tom's bag of tricks? ~ Mark
@ljped Hey Jack, glad you liked it. Thought about you and the boys as I was adding that "trumpet solo." Seems to me the ol' lip trumpet would find a fitting place in any number of songs by you guys. Only a matter of time, I'd say. Cheers. ~ Mark
Great job, Mark. You sure do select some great tunes to cover and your playing and singing are outstanding. I didn't really know about Cindy and all of her credits until a just few years ago. Just curious: What make/model ukulele is that? I hope I didn't already ask you that before. It looks a lot like the one I bought for my daughter a year ago (she loves it). ~Bob
@1catbob Thanks, Bob. I knew of Cindy's music, but not the woman behind it. She sure did reach a lot of people. The uke is a Kala baritone that I bought at Elderly Instruments, right here in town. It has such a cool little sound and is really user friendly. Fare warning, though, the dadgummed thing can be addictive. So be careful, if you are considering one. Getting ready for the storm. Extra set of strings on the shelf, so no problem. Cheers. ~ Mark
@manriq47 The uke: Thanks for the info, Mark. My daughter's is a Lanakai concert model with a solid spruce top. I have indeed considered buying one for myself but I already don't have enough time to play my guitars. I bought a used 12 string last spring and I probably have 4 hours or less playing time on it so far. I bought plenty of groceries today so I think we're ready to hunker down for a while through the blizzard if necessary. I just hope the power (heat) stays on.

ah yeah...yee haw! ......my kinda song....love those ole cowboy blues! ...and what a wway to perk it up with that ukeleigh (ukela ?) (for life of me cant rememeber how to spell that tonight!) and that brr brr brrr kazoooey sound too! very nice and uplifting way of doing this song!
@justcallmethelma Got me laughing with your comment, Kathy. Glad you liked the tune, the UKE (works for me) and the "kazooey" sound. It was fun giving it a try. I had to find a towel to dry off with after making the recording. Hope Mother Nature is treating you kind. All the best. ~ Mark
Almost like tunin' in to old timey radio - We get great tunes & mighty fine history lessons about great and interesting folks. (I really like your "naked lip trumpet" or kazooless kazoo) . Most excellent singing and playing, Mark! Always worth the trip to yore dadgummed channel! (I think Gabby Hayes used to say that too - or maybe Walter Brennon)
@cadwalladee Thank you, Scott. Yep, I really loved those old radio shows and those old cowboy sidekicks, too. George "Gabby" Hayes had to be one of the all time best. I actually remember hearing The Lone Ranger and some of the mystery shows on the car radio while taking family rides as a kid. Very fond memories. Getting ready for our first serious storm of the winter. Nothing compared to what you guys have been seeing, but over a foot of snow is serious enough for us. All the best. ~ Mark
