Thank you for bringing back beautiful memory. I had a crush on Olivia for years after I saw the film in 1968. She became the dream of my life with this romantic theme haunting in my head. I hoped to meet some one just as beautiful and attractive as her. Of course it was only a quest without success and I finally came down to earth and got married quite late in life. Now we are all old and feeble and the reality has ruined all our youthful dreams & memories - life is cruel, no doubt!

Though I was still young in 1968, and had always loved Shakespeare, this Franco Zefferelli Film, more than any other vehicle I had viewed, brought home the tragedy of the larger world's Social Shortfalls to interfere in true love, resulting in an outcome that is incredibly sad for everyone involved as in the story of Romeo & Juliet. Let us all set ourselves against events that allow True Love to be so terribly cheated as it was in Shakespeare's lesson on human frailties. Let Love Win Out Always.

I saw this movie as a 14 year old in 1968. I fell in love with Olivia Hussey ! This still moves me so much. Zefierelli is a master film maker and the whold package is just so beautiful. I am still moved to tears by the images and the music.
