@gamingmaster14 Islam was not forced on Persians. Most accepted it at that time because culturally Islam was close to what Persians were practicing. Just like Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world with no wars. Don't listen to what the media tells you.
@Dirubbo001 You do know that the Romans tried to conquer Persia but ended up having there Emperor Valerian kneel down to be used as a foot stool by Shapur, and eventually when he begged Shapur money for his release was forced molten gold down his throat. Lol Romans, plleeeeeasseee, you were the aggressors, and this was after the Greeks had taken over, Persians still whooped the Romans.
If there were no Afghanistan then there was no Iran. It was called Pars or Fars. Its just that you're country is peaceful and my country is fucked up by the barbaric Pashtuns. Farsibaan of Afghanistan are the real Persian. Trust me you guys are Arabic but were later Persianised.
i wonder what he's saying - the guy is very funny in english, and i've had very close iranian friends to see what he means... just curious what he's like when serious... some of y'all need to learn how to spell though, i mean there is a place they're is the verb... sorry - i'm a teacher
you are right....actually I prefer to be called an Iranian, cause Persians do not represent the whole country...and let's not forget a Persian had as much role as a Sassanian or a parthian in forming The Iranian Empire...and there are documents that show that even back then Everyone called the country Iran...to true pure Aryans, this country was never Persia...It always was and will be Iran!
buddy who the fuck are afgans kurds and persians are pure aryans kurds ruled iran then combined armies with the persian because for real kurds and persians are like brothers check out history median empire was the kurdish empire and achemeid empire was kurds and persian so who the fuck are afgs they think there fucking nuts
wtf r y saying men, no there not lol. have u ever heard an afgan say there persian? no there not. they are not unless they are half, dont ever post ignorant comments such as that.
ofcourse afg are persians...nd just coz they dont say they are doesnt mean that they arent!! and ur the ignorant one...since u dont even know anything about the persian history! go and learn a bit about who the persians are...!
and btw the persian tht afgz speak (i.e dari) is the persian that was spoken during the time of the persian empire...the persian that iranians speak (farsi) is recent and is mixed with arabic and french!! so hw can u say afgz arent persian????????????????????????????????????????????? IDIOT!!!!!!! afgz speak REAL persian not iranians!! persian 4 life!!
Yeah we don't we speak Dari, pure form of Modern Persian, Irani persian is mixed with French and arabic and even greek, ours is mixed with pasht. I have irani classmates, they don't understand me sometimes, but i understand them. Igrnorant fucks haha
I only understand Dari...the Iranian Farsi is somewhat hard to understand for me but if I concentrate I get it. But if u ever listen to Tajiki or uzbek those languages r really hard to understand.
i am an afghan, they speak the same language as us, just different accent, he is talking about some people criticizing them that why they are not proud of being Irani, but they say they are facing american audience so they wanna use all the misconception about middle east and make comedy
hahaha, wow i feel so "iranii" right now :P i know what they're saying. they're just explaining why he say like that he is an american citizen, but was born in iran.
ACTORnSCRENNWITER, me too, though not much about the acting part; acculturation is something that must be done w/o losing one's culture, but yes it is a unique psychology and situation to be a first-generation American immigrant. Things will continue to get better though.
I love all subjects, but I study science. though art is my outlet, i try to write poetry as often as i can, i sketch, and i just bought my first official painting kit.
Thank you for having this. I am a fan of Maz and it makes me very happy to see him discussing things and being real and still have a bit of funny.
I don't speak Farsi, by the way. I am only just now learning Arabic, but I plan to also follow up with Farsi as well as Hebrew. However, I was able to pick up a few things even though I couldn't get the conversation as a whole, and it makes me want to learn Farsi that much more. :-)
@GreNME Is Arabic, Persian, or Hebrew easy to pick up? I'm learning Spanish and I think it's pretty easy. German seems to also be easy. But besides learning just European languages I wanna learn either Arabic or Persian. Just to get to know other people and not just speak English my whole life. Ya know?
@rbatheNORSEMAN : I wouldn't call any of the three languages (Arabic, Persian, or Hebrew) easy to pick up, but I also wouldn't call them any more difficult than English to learn. Things conjugate differently and the tense of a word can change pronounciation, so if you're looking to study any of those languages I'd suggest making sure you learn the fundamentals first-- get the alphabet, the special characters, a good basic set of vocabulary words, and then learn how to form sentences. Good Luck!
This actors are saying we are proud of were we come from, and the reason we joke because we are middle easterns and we just comedians repersenting were we come from. He also talks about actors can change pples mindz. But mostly they are talking about it iz ok to lighten up and joke around.

But that is not so. You are mistaken. My audience is American, I have to address them in a way that I can tell my jokes so they can get it. When I come out and say I am from US BUT I was born in Iran, I KNOW that because of the news, immediately what you will think about is axis of evil and me being a terrorist. I want to make fun of that.
Mazz: someone had seen a clip and was upset that I had said I am from US or I am a US citizen but when you say you were born in Iran, you say it as if you are ashamed of it.
Hey! He was on Criminal Minds!!!! of course he played a terrorist....that is the only chance we have being on American tv hahahah *sigh*

well iranians are actually still persian....
afghanistan became a seperate country and thats why there not classified as persians at all
but iran is ancient persia, it never seperated or became a new country. the shah just changed the name from PARS to SARZAMINE-ARYAN which is iran.
so technically, iranians/persians are the same thing, just different way of calling themselves.

All Iranians are called Persian, although only 50% of Iran is 'ethnically Persian.' 30% is Azeri, 5% Armenian, etc.
But saying Iranians don't have a right to call themselves Persian? You're truly stupid, end of discussion.
