For all you guys having trouble remembering the table or are still looking of a "cheat sheet", I wrote a free program to help you out. Here is the link to the quick tutorial on how to use the program. The download link is in the description. youtube.com/watch?v=nolRA9ZmK-U
Hi there could you explain to me the watts on Ceramic Resistors (used for Audio Speaker Crossovers) i understand the Ohms ie the higher the Ohm the higher the Resistance yeah? but watts? ie 5w 7w 9w 10watt ect. does it make a big difference the watts?never really understood it Thanks.!
@SoundOut260 Didn't deal with electronics since I've been finishing my electronics studies but as far as I remember you have two relations that can explain the power in watt.
Power P Tension U and Intensity I
P = U×I
And the other one is the very first I've been taught
U = R×I were R is resistance.
From these you get
P = R×I²
We used to work with 1/4W resistors. If you consider the last relation you can understand : the more resistance and Intensity the more power (and heat by the way).
my amp is 300watts, and it has 2 output terminals. in one terminal, i want to connect a 4 ohm speaker and an 8 ohm speaker in parallel. d 8ohm speaker is 100watts. what kind of resistor to use with it, so it wont be damaged by the excess power. how to connect it? PLEASE REPLY!!!!!!!
@Exutus whats v= ir... thats for calculating voltage..i meant calculating power dissipated as heat in watts,,which i have found now which is p=v^2 / r or p=i^2 x r
but thanks for tryin to help pal ..may if u know more than i do u can answer a few of my other electronics blunders
@Exutus "Like ur girlfriend is, a resistor to your sperm" <<< wft mate
no she didnt say no, she said fuk yeah, fuk me harder. nd it wasnt her head that was hurtin ;) u wanna get a fukin life m8. aint u got nuthin beta to do thn argue wiv ppl on youtube.

wtf, still plays wiv lego??, how u work that out?? nd that cumin from sum1 whos only interest in life is how resistant a resistor is, haha.

I am learning about resistors can anyone tell me how to find out wattage on a resistor? Calculate?
Any help would be appreciated.
