For lowes...minimum wage is still a job for many people...Vallejo never had a mass high paying job market pre bankruptcy...it's a good commuter city...roughly 45 minutes from sf or sac... So we didn't lose anything there...btw most of the people whose houses got foreclosed where A.people that couldn't afford in the first place...not entirely vallejo's fault..B good earning workers who simply gave up there 750,000 5bed house and purchased the similar model down the street for half of it...and C

First of all we went bankrupt...and?...the streets that I drive thru are still beautifully manicured with people still playing in the skatepark/dog park...ill give you that the police/fire department decreased but what city hasn't ...for the housing market...we lived in what many called a real estate bubble...my house...bought in 1999...189,000 3beds...2006 est. 545,000...now settled back to where it should be...

I got into a really heated argument with some jerk from San Francisco, it was about a survey that found that Americans do not rank among the top 10 in standards of living. He went on to say that America has lots of minorities who don't do well and that white Americans are richer than white Aussies and Euros. It's both a social class and economic issue. Vallejo has a growing underclass that does not contribute taxes but do contribute crime. Those teenagers are not a problem , it's the thugs with the underwear hanging out robbing homes and people.
Construction down 70%. Lots of unemployment. Lots of people going out of business.

vallejo went bankrupt, u think a big corporate company will come in to that spot, it sucks cuz vallejo is bad as is, now its worse cuz they could only put 4 cops on patrol at night. do the math, 4 cops for over 100,000 people. on my map on my iphone, i cant even find a gas station or anything. for example there is a shell station here right next to my house, the closest one is in benicia, i have to put shell vallejo

@drey983 The dow is going up because of accounting reasons. The derivatives are being counted at there maximum assessed value. The volume is also extremely low on these trades which also hints to this. Then you have the fact that we should be in a deflation period but the government is printing money at the same rate the Euro and such are falling. We should be gaining purchasing power but we aren't which is more the reason we will experience hyper-inflation. Just get silver and be happy!
