Great video! I managed to play the song on my album and the video at nearly the same time, almost creating the effect the video originally had. I'm impressed; sucks it was censored in the first place, of course.
Even tho this is Adrian's video, overdubbed with Nine Inch Nails, it works so fuckin' well! Incredibly so! The word 'dark' doesn't even come close! I know it wasn't intentional, but the pairing is superb...!! \m/ (:o)
I remember loving the original album but can't remember it. Way to go record companies - protect your musicians rights by guaranteeing their obscurity. Douchebags!
I love Adrian Belew too flowerpunkchip. Have most of his solo stuff from Lone Rhino to Young Lions. Met him many years ago when he was with Bowie for a short spell. I have some old footage on VHS of him with King Crimson in Frejus, France. Once I get my shit together, we'll all have a look..before Big Brother spoils the fun.
Shocked that WMG pulled the music! Are they so dum as not to realise that this brilliant visual homage serves also as fantastic promotion of Mr Belew's talent and probably introduced many people to his music that otherwise would have remained ignorant to it. WMG come on get it together!
@Blyskawica1, right, why pull work of lesser known talent...seems more harm than good....Love Belew's work with Crimson....I might have purchased the cd this song is from IF I could have heard this as a sample....no dice now I guess...
Precisely. They're missing the point entirely here. This is word of mouth advertising and not advertising they can control. Their heads would probably explode if they ever realized how little so many think of the crap they try to sell us.
@flowerpunkchip Nine Inch Nails Studio Albums also. Adrian had one song that was in high rotation on MTV in the 80's. That was Oh Daddy. This is a totally different sound from Oh Daddy . Just Beautiful !!!! Reminds me of the Downward Spiral A LOT. After hearing this I can really see the influence he had on that particular album. He is credited on the Downward Spiral for the songs The Becoming and Mr. Self Destruct for his guitar work. But it ironically reminds of the Song A Warm Place ,NiN.
@cnmaccess2 Wow I feel stupid nvm about what I said above lol. The funny thing is about the record companies they are putting themselves under sooner or later they will kill themselves with their greed of the songs they own and have royalties to pay from the money they get from the fans. Warner music group UMG all of them and their sub companies and labels. Piss off the fans no more companies.
great, but you forgot the drugs, mental patients, and signs of aging to death? but, it is great that you got some surgery clips, war, struggling artist, technology, and incompetence. How you've shown emotional dependance and human distortion is unclear, though--oh
Adrian always walks one step ahead of of all other musicians around him. He is walking two to three steps ahead of most guitarists. Come back to Boston with the Power Trio Adrian, you guys {and gal} sound really great.

through the short window of the only limited opportunity presented before all of us, the time is now. i know will be able to get it right at least once hopefully it's this time.
Dont worry. The record companies are shooting themselves in the foot. 41k+ views = potentially 41k+ lost sales because probably customers, motivated to come check this out for some word-of-mouth, non-random reason, couldn't listen to it.
Bands will increasingly enjoy being independent, especially when they can maintain their rights to their own creative works and even NAMES.
i LOVE that piece by Adrian. anyway, what's author and title of the substitutive track.... youtube censored also one of my videos, in which i has as background a tune by zappa .....
..."given their lack of spiritual grounding" WHAT??? You've got to be totally out of your fucking mind! "Spiritual Grounding"???? Holy Fuck Man but when has the so-called "Spiritual" conjured up or elicited anything except the most deplorable and diabolical qualities of humanity??? Religion and Spirituality is just another name for conjuring absolute S-H-I-T on Earth!!!
I was both so humbled and touched that you listened closely and heard the inner meaning! A compliment to both me and more importantly Adrien Belew's impressive insight.
No one made much ado about the fact that lyrics are exceptional. If you listen with your mind's eye,the underlying meaning is clear and the video you assembled makes absolute sense. There is a profound message here of society being out of control given their lack of spiritual grounding and growth. Excellent song. Thanks for posting!
I met Adrian Belew a few days ago. Couldn't have met a nicer guy. He was waiting for his food at a little bar place across the Keswick theater, and me and my friend went up to shake his hand, and he smiled and told us to enjoy the show (King Crimson). And after he ate, we even gave us the time to take a picture with him.
Damn... please tell me if somebody else knows a better musician. Belew the best, lyrics, music, voice; the best of all the crimson's singers, including Lake

well, somebody did... but it's not necessarily Bush, he's a probable puppet. It's the invisible military government who did it... as Webster Tarpley correctly points out, you know that clip when Bush learns of the 2nd plane hitting the tower in a primary school, Bush geniunely looks scared... and he's thinking, "shit, they went ahead and did it", the invisible military maffia did it, Cheney's henchmen could have done it... Bush is a fall guy, don't give him too much credit :)
I just can't understand the juxtaposition of some of those images. It went from being a completely literal interpretation of the lyrics to some bizarre episode of 'the operation' show. Noble effort, but for me it became unwatchable. The last thing I want to associate this great song with is scalpels removing flesh from an arm.
This is great! gruesome images and all. Paskualu ask "why do you put these [horrific] pictures?" perhaps they should ask "why don't you sanitize your video, after all we don't want to see what's really happening" I'm a big fan of Adrian Belew and like this video that you have made.

you need to refine your reading list...
a less cynical list would include history's spiritual masters whose psychophysical abilities, and capacities for compassion were limitless.
don't confuse the corruption of "religious" institutions for the deep and true experiential wisdom that is alive in all of us...
