  • Original interpretation! I like it.

  • @metalshrine -- thanks so much!!!

  • do you have the sheet music?

  • @dancewiththedeath -- no sorry, my sister did the playing on this sound sample and she was playing by ear.

  • awesome job!!!! do you guys use different bows everytime? or do you guys just use your own on all of them?

  • @violinist2bvalentino -- we usually use our own bows, a fairly standard old german trade bow, similar to a bausch.

  • That violin has such a beautiful sound!!

  • i agree with a lot of the comments - it was a pretty good rendition and your technique was good. considering it's a lot harder than it looks, i'd say you did a good job

  • @sevenzeroz -- thanks so much!

  • you're lucky to have a violen i always wanted to play the violen.

  • bien con las dos cuerdas !!

  • @diegostichaco -- muchas gracias...

  • Nice playing. What software did you record with?

  • @2005DJT -- thanks! we use a $79 casio digital camera and record onto a 2gb sd card, then transfer the video directly to youtube. no software, no editing.

  • @eboyinc Cool, the sound quality is VERY good.

  • @2005DJT -- hey thanks so much...i'm really glad you liked it. i was sightreading it and found it was fairly difficult. one of these days, i'lll go back and work on it a bit.

  • You have the gift. Just work on the timing in between the placements of the vibratos and swtiching. You have really good structure though. Keep up the good work.

  • @CapricornBeast666 -- thanks! glad you liked it c:

  • Wow, I wish I can play like you do/

  • @Ichien123 -- thanks so much!!! glad you liked the video :D

  • @Ichien123 -- thanks so much!!!

  • very nice vibrato! (and ur really good, BTW)

  • @twilightcrazy428 -- thank you! glad you liked the video c:

  • From what I can tell, it sounds great. Wish you had a better mic though, it doesn't do any violin justice, period.

  • @chr9is -- thanks...we use a $79 casio digital camera to do the recordings...can't be much of a mic--its just a pinhole on the front of the camera. we're just high school students and its the best we can do for now.

  • That's definitely a beautiful violin...you make a great sound come out of it...keep it up!

  • perfekt,klasse.

    realy good

  • thanks so much!!!

  • thats amazing, i hope i can play like you someday.

  • you can...just do it :D

  • You play very well, really 5 stars brother

  • thanks so much (i'm more of a sister than a brother lol :D

  • :D that was soo good

  • hey thanks so much c:

  • Very good, and your intonations are very individual and unique to you.

  • thanks so much!

  • @eboyinc

No problem mate! Too many people on here, who have never even picked up a violin before, attempt at criticising others. You are very good though. What is important is what the violinist can bring to the piece. What can the player manifest from their own personal being, through playing the music. And you do that very well, that's why you are original and unique, your feeling of the music is tangible. Keep it up madame, you are definitely going somewhere in this life.

  • You are totally amazing!!! Beautiful--Five Stars for you!!!!!

  • thanks so much...i appreciate everyone's support. i'm a student violinist and i've been asked to produce sound samples of a major violin collection here on youtube. mostly, i sightread these pieces from a collection of sheet music and violin books that accompany the violin collection...i'm glad you liked this video.

  • @auburnUmusic --- thanks so much!

  • Great violin tone! I knw its hard to nail down the double stop..great effort!

  • i was wondering; what does mean "double stop"? ive heard this term several times and i still dont know what it is....!

  • double stop is two note played simultaneously.

  • hi, yep....thanks for helping out with an explanation for Maylie1008 :D

  • thanks for posting your question.....as

64soul1 posted below, a double stop is two notes bowed simulaneously, either fingered or open or a combination.

  • hi...thanks! glad you liked the video :D

  • i would never play this piece. it's so hard but to the non violinists its not impressive because its slow and they wouldnt recognize how hard those shifting double stops intonation can be. nevertheless, amazing job

  • well i was sightreading this piece. along with this massive collection of violins that my brother and i are sound sampling, there's also a few boxes full of old sheet music. we'll sometimes just randomly pull something that looks interesting...or something we've always wanted to try to play. that's what i was doing here so i had no idea of the difficulty level. thanks :D

  • i agree your very good. And you def sound like you know what your doing awesome one of the best on here for this song.

  • hey thanks so much :D

  • I love this! I like how your vibratos are big and slow. It really fits the song (some people show off and play it fast all the time). Amazing performance! I'd also like to buy your future CD's! XD

  • thanks...i was sightreading this and had to rely on what i could remember from the movie, red violin. i was very moved by joshua bell's performance of this piece. i'm afraid you may have to wait awhile for a cd...i'm just a student...but i really appreciate your confidence and support!!!

  • Hey boy may i see the partitures? i love this sound may i see the letter? *-*

  • hi, i think you're asking to see the sheet music? unfortunately, the music that we use for the sound samples is selected from a collection of music that accompanies the violin collection. we "borrow" it for the sound sample and then return it.

  • I am obsessed with this video! Wow, I wish you would let us know who you were so that we can buy your future CD!

  • hey, glad you like the video...i promise that if and when i ever get to make a cd, i'll let you know :D

  • U awsome!

  • whoa thanks :D

  • Hi may you show this partitures? *-*

  • wonerful

  • thanks!!! i was sightreading this...one of these days i'm going to go back and work this up properly :D

  • that doesn't look like sightreading to me

  • adoring god praying to him the worship that belongs to him and you . vows made for virtue of religion and self

  • i can play this song too but without the double-stops cuz i did it by ear...anyway good job ^_^

  • Really fantastic.

  • "lectura a primera vista".

That's a very pleasant, rich and fat violin sound =)

and your spanish is quite good too =)

  • thanks for the help....sight reading = lectura a primera vista :D

para mi, hablando o escritura en espanol es una creacion todavia que progresa

  • by the way your sentences are composed, i'm quite sure you're using a translator. am i wrong? =P

  • i compose them myself, but occasionally use a dictionary to check up on my work. for instance, if you enter "I play the violin" in a translator, you won't get the right verb...you'll get jugar instead of tocar :D

  • Muy bien =) keep rocking =)

  • me encanta tu vibrato!

  • muchas gracias :D

  • excellente interpretation de corigliano :) et tres joli violon ancien

  • thank you so much!

  • Yes I hope so, thank you for answering :) Ill add you, and maybe soon when i think im good enough ill put out my own work :P so you can listen ^^

  • Could you please share your sheet music for this theme? Thank you. Liz

  • hi...i was sightreading this from sheetmusic that i borrowed from the estate which holds these violins...i don't have a copy...sorry. maybe someone will read this and post it for both of us :D

  • Beautiful playing.

  • thanks so much...glad you liked it :D

  • Truly an Italian violin. Only they can sound so pure. You are amazing. This is difficult piece.

  • thanks...i think you're right...a very nice italian violin :D

  • Hey Eboyinc I didnt know u spoke spanish.. great.. that's my native langiage....

  • si ~ estudio espanol en la escuela y mi padre era nato y vivido en Miami (el tiene una tia y un tio en Cuba). mi profesor del violín es de venezuela : D

  • Oh really?? That's great.. I'm from Venezuela... who's your teacher? Does he live in the US or what? That's really nice :)

  • hi, yes i saw that...my teacher lives in the u.s. but was born and raised in venezuela...i think he came here to study music and lives here now :D

  • que diferencia hay entre un violin y una viola? ese es una viola cierto?

  • ese es un violin italiano. es un violin mas fino...es un violín que se toca bien con un tono que sea maduro y caliente como una viola. Pero es un violin :D

  • hi. the "red violin" is a reference to the "Red Mendelssohn" Stradivarius...circa 1720...and so named when it was bought by a descendant of Mendelssohn in the 1930s. it still bears the original red varnish applied by stradivari. the violin is now owned by Elizabeth Pitcairn and was the inspiration for the movie "The Red Violin."

  • Can somebody please explain me wath is the red violin?

  • Its a wonderful movie about a violin passed down through generations...

  • red violin is a film, historic und drama

  • hi. the "red violin" is a wonderful movie but the movie was based on the "Red" Mendelsson stradivarius which is currently in the hands of violinist Elizabeth Pitcairn. I've heard Pitcairn perform and it is a beautiful instrument that still bears its original red varnish.

  • you have the right ideas now! work on your intonation and dynamics, you will be an awesome player!)

  • You play the violin so fluidly.

    How amazing =]

I'm a beginner, and I hope to be as good as you are.

  • thanks so much!!! i've been studying for a few years and am still a beginner too. it's a lifetime kind of thing. you gotta keep playing no matter what, thats the key (no pun intended) i think :D

  • Fantastic. For a 14 year old you have an amazing sound and a major sensitivity to the music. This is a difficult piece.

  • wow...thanks! i'm 15 now. one day i'm going to work this piece up...love it, but you're right about it. it was too tough for a site reading...but i appreciate your generous comment :D

  • BRAVO!!!

  • thanks so much :D

  • i love your violin...and you play beautifully....someday ill be that good :]

  • awsome instrument.

  • How long have you been practicing?

  • beautiful playing! i like your vibrato :DD

  • Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. The sound is wonderful and you played it wonderfully. :] I've been searching for the sheet music, would you be able to send it to me, please? I'd be very grateful!

  • oh...you're the 2nd person to ask recently...i was sightreading it--not my music--belongs to the person who manages this collection of violins--maybe someone out there will read this and post it; i'd like to have a copy too :D

  • ahh, did you find the sheet music?

  • the person who manages this collection of violins had it and i was sightreading it for this sound sample...it's out there somewhere, though :D

  • I'm also looking for the piece. *sigh* can you send it to me?

  • hi...beautiful piece. i borrowed the sheet and was sightreading it but maybe somebody will read this and post it :D

  • You're great. =)

  • i don't know about that...and especially on this piece, but i really appreciate that you think so...keeps me going :D

  • :o

    You're only 14 :)

    like me.

    I'm learning to play.

    I stink.

your vids give me inspiration though.

    so thankyou

    :D

  • hey...you can do it...it's just a matter of how much time you put into it. patience is key :D

  • could you please send me the notes

  • i'll see if i can find it...i was sightreading it and then put it away :D

  • I'm 14 too, and I probably can't play that for life :) You are really really good.

  • hi. sure you can...its all about practice and patience. thanks :D

  • wow ur 14! you are really good ! keep it up man.

  • hi...thanks...so much practicing...so little time :D

  • OMG thats frikin amazing!!!

  • hi...thanks so much :D

  • omg i love his vibrato!

    mines not as mellow...its sharp

  • hey thanks...ps i'm a girl :D oh, try warmer strings like infield reds :D

  • I don't like joshua bell. he thinks he's cool.

    but i like this song.

    k so thanks.

  • hi...i agree, it's a beautiful piece :D

  • How old are y ou ?

  • i'm 14 :D

  • how long have you been playing this marvelous instrument?

  • hi. this isn't my personal violin. this violin is part of a collection of fine violins that i've been asked to help sorting out...i basically get to open a case that hasn't been opened in years, tune it up and play for a minute or two to produce a sound sample. the video you see is the the only time i get to play these instruments. after that, i'm back on my own violin :D

  • What do you think of Joshua's playing? My teacher was Mr. Gingold's teaching assisstant for some time, and she knows joshua pretty well. I have met him a couple times in person, he once played tzigane at one of our recitals, it blew everyone away.

  • wow...i met him too after a performance here...it was an amazing concert. he performed the red violin caprice and broke his e-string during the performance. bell very calmly turned & exchanged violins with the concertmaster. when joshua bell started playing again, the concertmaster restrung bell's strad on stage. you're lucky to have such a great teacher--gingold!!! bell!!! wow :D

  • Well, you've obviously got a great teacher too, you're really good. Better than I am, that's for sure

  • So, so beautiful. Did I read on one of your videos that you're only 13 or 14 years old?

  • i'm 14...glad you liked this video :D

  • I agree with everyone. I'd also buy your CD, actually I'd like two of them please.

  • that's so nice of you...if i ever have a cd, i'll let you know :D

  • Have you recorded a CD yet? I'd be first on line to buy one if you have. I absolutely love to listen to the pieces you post and most of all, you playing them so beautifully. YouTube followers: can we start a write-in campaign to get this young lady to make us a CD?

  • I agree with Sonataspartitas!!! If you make a CD, I'd buy it. You're smokin!!!

  • thanks so much...sorry to disappoint everyone, but i don't have a cd...i'm just 14 and still just a violin student. but its a great dream for me and if it comes true, i'll let everyone know :D

  • wow...sorry to say that i don't have a cd. Maybe someday when i've gotten better. one youtuber suggested a cd, and i'm now getting some requests. but i really appreciate the wonderful support :D

  • beautiful :')

  • thanks!!! glad you liked it :D

  • where can I have this song partiture?

    It's really cool

  • hi...beautiful piece. i borrowed the sheet and was sightreading it but maybe somebody will read this and post it :D
