Some of the best discoveries in Science & tecnology come from accidents. When the Large Hadron Collider was fired up for the first time last Tuesday, I knew that may provide some solutions to this energy condundrum. I know Peak Oil is not on the agenda for the scientist's projects at the LHC, but like when P&G were working on cotton seeds they came up with Olestra, which is now in Doritos. This was pure accident. Maybe we can expect the same kind of breakthrough at CERN with the LHC. Great Vid!
Greatest Energy Storage Device is the "Hydro-Carbon" bond....heheeheheee, we just have to make Synthetic Fuel from Hydrogen and BioMass (Waste) or pull the Carbon out of the Air...
Yeah, it's hard to believe how much energy is stored in a Can of "Millions of Years of Sunlight" (or Petroleum). The real cost of such "luxury energy" is probably like $600/bbl...or $12/gal Gasoline....we'll get there eventually....
The huge problem with electricity is storing it and there´s no easy solution for that. Batterys are fine for low power applications but pretty much suck otherwise. Capacitors are way better in many ways but they can´t store much energy.
The classic way of storing electric energy has been using the electricity to pump water to a higher place and then make the inverse operation to get part of the energy back.
so cute... i always need to watch these clips twice, one to carefully monitor kris's face, and another one to pay attention to the guest! - and i always enjoy the two of them :-)
