I just found my load master 2500 last night raped in a newspaper from aug 26,1987 i thought it got loast in the shuffel.its a little dirty but looks like it will clean up overall in good shape i took care of my things as a kid ;im going to get sum batterys latter and see if it still works???
Best..toy..ever! But yeah it broke easily. I had two, neither one lasted long but it was great while I had them. I never see them around. I am going to grab one of those Tonka ones which should be a rear loader but have the packing blade in the middle.
This is what its all about introducing the fun. read all about it on my blog "Introduce the fun teory in environmental projects impact people’s behavior towards the environment."
I would have to say no. The Loadmaster is made of a more rigid plastic which can crack easily. The motor and gear drives work well enough until the body is filled, but lack sufficient torque to really pack out. The sweep panel will stop against a wad of newspaper caught beneath its edge. The wheel gearbox wears out in a hurry (no axle shaft bushings).
There are a lot of weak points which really come out when it is "played" with. The best ever made for realism but should be mre robust
The packer mechanism can be described as weak. It will fill the body, put it won't really pack much. The electric motor is just not that strong. My biggest complaint is that the packing cycle is unrealistically fast. If they had geared it down a little more, it would have been perfect, and possessed a little more packing power as well!
I had one of these as a kid. Sadly it just kinda disappeared(it was given away by my mother to goodwill or amvets when she decided I was too old to have such stuff)
I remember spending hours playing with this truck!
Ahh that sound brings back fond memories. I have the Wayne Street Sweeper made by the same company. Got it way back in the early 70's It sounds identical! I'll have to post a video of it. Any idea what these toys go for nowadays?
I would love to see the sweeper! Not surprising it sounds the same, probably the same motors and gearboxes (which are really of P.O.S. quality to boot). Nice examples of this truck sell for $500-1000, beat up ones for a little less.
I kinda hurts when this thing gets your fingers, because the blade has a somewhat sharp edge. Fortunately, the motor is not powerful enough to do any damage!
This was made by Child Guidance Toys in 1970, an exact replica of the Loadmaster LM-120. They are pretty hard to find since they have been out of production so long. Ebay is the only place I know of to find them, but even there, they are few and far between.

does the ejector push back as it fills up and doesw the ejector go all the back and forward
robinsonm08 3 years ago
The ejector is manually controlled by an electric motor. The switch is behind the truck cab. It does not react to load pressure.
ClassicRefuseTrucks 3 years ago
They should make one based on the Leach 2R Packmaster.
alterman156 3 years ago
if i ever do get hold of one of them i would put fevers in it because they are so light and would pack for a very long time before its full
robinsonm08 3 years ago
what scale is the truck
robinsonm08 3 years ago
I don't know for sure: I would guess it is approximately 1/12 scale. Overall length is about 15"
ClassicRefuseTrucks 3 years ago
that is so cool how much can you pack on it then put bulk in the back

Semitruckman101 3 years ago
I'm not sure, I think this one only cost me about $200.00 or so. I've paid as much as $600.00 and as little as $40.00 in recent times
