  • I'm confused! I was told using weights for ab muscles would make them bulk up and not give me a smaller waist. I used to do this very exercise and it feels so good, but then I was advised to stop it. You look good so I don't know.

  • hi.how many times a week this workout be done to have clear results?

  • @saima004 2-3 times a week.

  • Whoa, I just did 10 of those and I already feel the burn so I know it's working. Great vid! Thanks for sharing!

  • I don't have the free weights... don't have enough money to go get one now... so hat do I do??? :(

  • Nice:)

I just have to try that exercise!!

  • How long to see results with 3 sets per session, 3x a week? Plus with a protein shake after each work out.

  • @yungladii1 Hi, you will feel results with this exercise right away as it begins to work your oblique muscles. You can see results within 1-2 weeks.

  • @yungladii1

For visible abs on stomach you need low % of body fat, that s the key. If you man you need bf about 8-10%, if you women for visible abs bf should be around 13-15%. You can have best abs and strongest abs in a world, but if you have to much fat your abs can t see, because they are under layer of fat :) I hope that I help you little. For low bf you need nice diet, 6 small healthy meals per day and you must work cardio, like running, fast walk and else :) Sry on my English

  • I watch all of your videos! I just started working out recently and I find you very helpful and motivational. Thank-you!

  • @kailanmcgee21 Hi, you're very welcome. Thank you for your terrific feedback; I really appreciate it.

  • I have a STUBBORN BELLY. Im skinny (tiny) everywhere but my belly. Would this help? any helpful tips you can share please!

  • Hi, yes it would. You just need some toning up.

  • I love the way you say "alrighty then" :)

  • thank U for the gr8 workout! i love it, i'll try it now!

mm the room ur in, reminds me of the soprano's. it's like christopher is shootin' the video.

  • thank you for sharing with us..you are so sweet ...Thanks from Kuwait

  • great workout!!

  • I just tried that! That's a GOOD workout!

  • Your videos are great. Very helpful, thank you. :) Do you think switching every other day with cardio and abs that it will be good?

  • Sure, that's a great idea.

  • very good instructions. thank you!

  • Thank you very much for this video, I tried it and I really felt my waist tighten. And after the workout, it felt really good. I wanted to ask you, can you explain what you mean by keeping your stomach muscles tight? I tried to keep it tight but I couldn't while doing the exercise. My stomach was just normal. Thank you once again! =)

  • Hi, it's basically tensing your tummy muscles as you perform the exercise. Practice doing it first without doing a sit up by pressing your lower back into the floor then releasing. When you press, you contract. Then add your upper body movement. I hope that helps :o)

  • Thanks. So I am thinking 10lbs is also appropriate. for me. You are suggesting about 20 reps rights? What are your thoughts on heavier weights fewer reps? Thanks and I appreciate your fast reply.

  • Hi, the amount of weight you use depends on your strength. For ladies, I would suggest more reps, but for guys you can use heavier weight and fewer reps.

  • I heard that these excercises , particularly using weights, will actually create a bulky , thick waist. Now i am confused. I stopped doing these years ago but have always missed that burn. What's the deal?

  • Hi, using weights to add resistance to your ab routine will not give you a bulky, thick waste. Using weights helps to fatigue your stomach muscles faster cutting down on the number of reps you need to do in order to benefit from the exercise. Weights helps to tone and shape and flatten. I have been using weights in my ab routine for years and I do not have a thick waist, nor is it bulky. I believe that thinking came about from people with excess fat in their abdominal area...continued....

  • assuming that using weights was making their stomach larger. Unfortunately, if you don't lose excess fat in your midsection, you really won't see the definition of stronger and flatter abs show. That is why ab work must also be accompanied by cardio to burn excess calories and fat. Also, the amount of weight you use in an ab routine is very small and in my opinion not heavy enough to product bulk, but just enough to provide resistance for those that are need to challenge their muscles more.

  • Hello, thank you for the video! I was wondering approxiametely how long does it take to obtain a small waist. And should we start with 20 sets and increase the number of sets everyday? Also should we do a set in the morning and one at night?

  • Hi, how long it takes to obtain a small waist will depend on what size your waist is and whether you do eat a healthy diet and do other forms of exercise. Unfortunately, without seeing you or knowing more about you, it's hard for me to say. I would recommend doing this exercise once a day. You can start with 10-20 repetitions each side (however many is comfortable) and increase when you want more of a challenge.

  • And also it's hard for me to keep my muscles tensed and still breath any tips?

  • What if you don't have any dumbbells? Is there anything else you ca use of does it work without weights?

  • Perhaps water bottles (gallons or smaller)?

  • @YouTips4U Ok thank you

  • I only feel pain on one side after doing the first exercise. Is this normal?

  • Hi, you shouldn't feel any pain when doing this exercise. Are you referring to sore muscles after you do it, like the next day because that is normal. Not sure why only one side is sore, perhaps you did not do both sides equally with equal form. Let me know.

  • Doing it right now. I´m feeling the pain!!! Thank you so much for uploading this video :)

You have an AMAZING body!!! :D

  • IMPORTANT - I have seen a variation with the knees straight and locked not bent the way you do it. Which one is the right way and does not over stress the knee overtime? Also why do you need to take one hand up while the other goes down? What does the hand going up help you with?

  • Hi, with knees straight, you cannot really move very far from side to side or you will injure your side. With knees bent you can control how far you go down that is comfortable for you. You have to move far enough to get the resistance. The other arm just naturally goes up as you bring the other arm down. You are simply adding a small extra movement to make a bit more resistance with the dumbbell.

  • is it still possible even if I don't have dumbbells...?? D:

  • Oh, my God, you're my hero! Thank you so much!! :D I'm training to get a really nice swimsuit body, but I'm a bit self-concious about my waist: I feel it's to wide for my taste. I wanted to shave off maybe an inch, and so far, I've been seeing excellent progress! Thanks again! :)

  • OMG I used to have such a tiny waist. not so afetr kids. :( boo! I want to do these workouts. I WILL !!!!!!!!!!

  • Does this really work?

  • Hi, it sure does :o)

  • Hi i really LOVE your videos!!! i love how you always have an amazing attitude and ready to workout!! :) i started your workouts about a week ago and ive seen some good progress!! but i want to know if this workout gets rid of your love handles...i have small thighs and very big love handles and im trying to get rid of them and also my stomach fat...would this video help me with that??? please respond i really want to know.

  • Hi, yes it will. You should also do cardio exercise to help burn calories and excess fat. You will see results much quicker that way. This exercise helps shape and tone.

  • This really works. I felt the pain the next day for about 3 days

  • Hi, that is very common. Just give your muscles a few days to recover; then resume with this exercise.

  • I'm really struggling with my weight loss. I was pregnant with twins and one of my babies didnt make it. My surviving little girl is almost two and Ive only lost 30 pounds of the 50 I put on. Workouts haven't been helping to tone my muscles much. My obliques are large and my waist is tiny, I need a little more help in that department. And the lower abs... Any advice as to how long this may take?

  • I had 4 kids.my last one is two months.i lost weight but my stomach is flabby.can that be reversed without surgery?

  • Hi, it definitely can be reversed. It won't be easy. It does take work, but you can get rid of the flabbiness. You must give yourself time though and you are only two months post partem so your body is still recovering from pregnancy. Stay committed to exercising and a healthy diet and you will see results. I know it's hard to find time for yourself with four children, but when you feel better and your baby is sleeping well so that you are more refreshed, begin a regular exercise program.

  • Thanks for the tip...and great attitude.

  • thanks for the great videos - your workouts are difficult but not impossible, and your perky attitude makes even the most strenuous exercises seem fun and worth while :)

  • Hi, thanks so much for your great feedback. I'm so glad you like my videos and me :o)

  • you seem a nice person. my obliques are a disaster, i will begin tomorrow

  • u wear the best tops they fit that sext stomach of yours perfectly more vids please

  • will this make my waist smaller i want a 21 inch waist its 26 now

  • Hi, yes this will definitely help to slim your waist.

  • hi thanks for the vid. can we do it without dumbells since i'm a beginner?

  • Hi, sure you can.

  • hi - should i hold my tummy muscles in while doing this exercise? thanks!

  • Hi, yes, you should keep them tightened.

  • how long did it take u to achieve your amazing flat abs? :D

  • Hi, I have always maintained my flat tummy, but I can tell you that after I had each of my children it took me about 1 year to get my tummy back to the way it is now. So keep working at it because it can take time, especially after pregnancy. Even though you may lose your pregnancy weight, the muscles take time to tone.

  • @YouTips4U ooo i see thankyouuuu

  • hi there! this is an awesoem excersize thank you so much! so quick question.. if i do this about twice a day for 20 min, 5x a week, how many days should i start seeing noticable results? thanks! :)

  • hi there! this is an awesoem excersize thank you so much! so quick question.. if i do this about twice a day for 20 min, 5x a week, how many days should i start seeing noticable results? thanks! :)

  • Hi, you will see and feel results with this exercise right away. Perhaps within one week. However, you only need to do it once per day every other day.

  • hi if i do this about 4 times a week for 20 min how soon would i see results??

  • Thank you!! :)

  • will doing that make your arms muscle-ish??? I don't want THAT muscular arms O_O please reply!!! awesome viddy :)

  • Hi, using a 10 pound weight can work your arm muscles as you perform this exercise. If you do not with to tone them at all take the weights down to 5 pounds. That should provide little resistance and shouldn't really build much muscle. It takes a lot of lifting over time to achieve muscular arms. Even if you do this exercise three times a week for a county of 25 on each side, you shouldn't see any muscularity that is too much for you.

  • @101ClaireRedfield do it without raising your arm, job done, or if u want a way without using your arms get in a sit up position, lay on your back.. put your knees straight in the air and put your hands behind your head and lay your arms on the floor, then lower your knees down to your side without touching the floor and repeat the other side

  • I have a question...does also work effectively for men too?

  • Absolutely. This exercise is great for both men and women.

  • hi there, i have a question

i am a mother of one and before i got pregnant my hip size was 10 and now its 14 . it would really help me if u could advise me how to get the size 10 back again would be really helpful thanks .

  • @msuuups21 This is just alittle advise.

Running is a really good way to get yourself tonned again along with some yoga there should be afew yoga techs on youtube vids around check them out =)

You can completely egnore my advise if you like like to help people reach there goals im 18 and when im older i want to be nown for helping people =)

  • Hi, if you want to lose inches or excess fat, you really need to do cardio exercise at least 4-5 times a week for at least 40 minutes. Work your way up to that amount of time by starting with 20 minutes and as you get more fit, you can add more time. It will help you lose weight and inches. You will also want to do toning exercises to tone muscles.

  • You can't argue with results.. o.o thanks for posting this

  • hi i have a question,i barely dont have any hips(small hips) it dont have a shape at all.....is there any exercise u can recomend to get bigger hips?thank you.

  • Hi, there really isn't an exercise to get larger hips. The only way I really know of is to gain weight. You may or may not wish to do that.

  • @brielle1828 You could eat pastas and rice an stuff like that that makes your waist bigger ( 2 dumbells or any form of weights to each side of your waist and go down on one side an back up then down on the other an back up) the pastas will fill your waists and make them bigger wile the weights will build the muscle.

Be sure to do your research before listeing to other peoples advises though im no pro at this sorta stuff iv just been doing alot of my own research =)

  • your videos are very helpful! thanks for posting! i will try to do this daily.

  • sexy.

  • I just always kind of followed fad diets - had no idea what obliques even were, honestly. I am going to try this exercise in an effort to get my stomach to be flat.

  • Hi! I have a question:

I was doing this workout, and the thing is - I could only feel it on my thighs because of the bent knees...am I doing it wrong?

  • Not at all. You are working your quads as well to do this exercise. You just found another place you need to work on!

  • AWW you're so cute. Alrighty! :)

  • I like this! Gonna do it 2 or three times a day! I've got a lot of belly to firm up. This seems like the best way to get started and to get the energy going! My breathing acceleration just doing the first 5 reps! I was looking for something like this to get started with my weights. Thank you.

  • im 14 5'4 .5 ndd i weigh 131...i hav lik a small pouch i dnt really eat alot but i jst eat wat i like if i do this nd jst keep my daily life style how long will it b b4 i get a flat stomachh nd how many times a day do i hav to do this???

  • I'm trying to get a flat tummy or loose weight by August. I'm an elite softball player ands very active. But I still can't seem to loose the weight. Will this help me get that flat tummy and small waist? And how long till I see results? ..

  • Hi, this will definitely help you with your tummy and waist. You want to incorporate this exercise into your ab routine. For best results you should do about 10-12 minutes of ab work 3-4 times a week. This exercise can be one of the exercises you do in that 10-12 minutes. Please see my other ab workout videos for more helpful exercises.

  • @liviah33 as the advise from her is good she missed out that you need to have a good diet =) but maybe you already no that.

    Eating stuff like:

Bananas - People say there fattening but forget the fact they are good fats and would go perfectly with the fact you play softball

Green tea - helps loose weight easy also =)

my personal fav is (cinimon) put it on anything it is awsome for fat burning

Im not a pro so do your research before taking my advise ty =) and good luck with t.

  • This exercise is a magic bullett. I have been doing it now for 2 weeks and I cannot believe it! I have been trying to get a flat belly for TWENTY FIVE YEARS! Seriously, God bless you.

  • Hi, thanks so much for your terrific feedback! I'm so glad my video helped :o)

  • so, you're not bending at all? Stand straight, gut tight and bend side to side, right? Thanks.

  • Hi, actually your knees are bent for this exercise.

  • I like it. Feel the energy

  • Hi, I love this workout. I think you have great abs, do you follow a special type of diet? I have two children, and I've lost a lot of weight, however i still have a little belly fat around my abdomen..don't know how to get rid of it..any tips will be appreciated...;))

  • Hi, I don't diet, but I do follow what I call a food-groups diet. Whenever I eat, I always try to have something from a different food group so that by the end of the day, I have had foods from all food groups. I eat lean protein, vegetables, fruits, low-fat dairy, nuts, and whole grains. I rarely ever eat processed foods or refined foods (i.e. white bread). You will lose your belly fat, just keep working at it. You may want to up your cardio intensity a bit, that can really boost things.

  • I would probally die trying to do this at over 400lbs?

  • I did this exercise at the gym yesterday..... OMGoodness! My sides are killing me!!! Great workout! Thanks for sharing :)

  • Hi, I'm so glad you like it. Being sore is very common with this exercise and will dissipate as your obliques become more toned.

  • Great video, I'm really going to try this exercise :), thanks

  • omg, r u married??????? ultimate beautiful woman!

  • so in fors side bends you werent taking yourself too low, But in 2nd one you took yourself way to low,

  • Thanks alot! This is really helpful.

  • Hi, What if I do this exercise without dumbbells???

  • Hi, you certainly can to start. Then as you feel more comfortable, you will want to add some resistance to further test your obliques.

  • wow! a girl with a six pack!

  • U ROCK!

  • hey how long do you do this a day? and how much days or weeks will it take to start to notice yur waist getting smaller?

  • Hi, try to work up to doing about 2o on each side about three times a week. You will notice results right away. Be sure you use good form :o)

  • hey how long do you do this a day? and how much days or weeks will it take to start to notice yur waist getting saller

  • Hey, really good job! iIve been doing it SO wrong! lol thanks for posting :)

  • this is a silly question but will my belly button change its shape??? if i do this excersice?

  • Hi, you belly button should not change shape from doing this exercise:o)

  • oh and sorry i forgot to ask one more thing, um does it matter if i dont squat for this excercise ? like if i do the same thing but just standind up ? or will this have a different effect. please write back asap thankss :)

  • Hi, as long as it is comfortable for you, you can straighten a bit more, but you will probably need some amount of squatting to keep the form correct.

  • hey :) um i have hard that this excercise actually builds up bulk on your sides is this true ? how long have you been doing this and did you get good results ?

  • Hi, I have been doing this for about 10 years. It will not bulk up your sides.

  • Dang dis girl got sum seroius abs

  • another great video,thanks

  • do you do these exercise everyday?

  • Hi, these exercises are best done every other day. You always need a day of rest in between your ab workouts. That's how your abs get stronger and more toned.

  • @YouTips4U yea i a student :D

how many hours do i need to do this exercise? :D

    tn q for responding :)

    i will suscribe on u :D

  • Hi, no hours needed; you just need a few minutes :o)

  • @YouTips4U ok ^^ tnq :))

  • do i need to work out everyday ?? ^^

  • Hi, no you do not. Several times a week is fine. You should, however, do something physical everyday if you have a job sitting down or you are a student and spend a lot of time sitting. 20-30 minutes of walking or cleaning; just something to get you moving a bit.

  • Wow! you can really feel the muscles getting a huge workout and its so simple! thank you. :D

  • Great video ! I've been looking for a good work-out for the obliques. Thank you for sharing,

    -zach

  • Ah thanks and I will try to do the higher one.

Actually also can you post a video on how to get rid of oily skin I have that problem always and I used make up that help out but it does not work.

  • Hi, please visit my blogspot when you have time and click on my "acne tips" link. I have a lot of tips on skin that I think you will find helpful.

  • Quick question you said not to workout close to bedtime. Well I always try to work out during 6 or 7 and I'm usually done by 9. Would that be okay considering I go to sleep at 11?

  • Hi, that's fine as long as you don't have problems falling asleep. Some people have a hard time settling down to sleep because their body stays revved for a long period of time. You are probably used to your routine. My suggestion would be to do the higher intensity exercise first that way you get it over with earlier.

  • TIPS FROM MAYLI

    always suck in your stomach

it builds the muscles that keeps

    your tummy looking flat

    burns calories too!!!

I always suck it in :D

  • When is the best time of day to work out

  • Hi, the best time is the time that works best for you. The only time I don't recommend is too close to bedtime. You want to reap the benefits of your hard work by enjoying your revved up energy and metabolism.

  • ur hott

  • can i work w/o weights? O_O

  • Absolutely! You can add weights eventually if you feel you would like the extra resistance.

  • your abs and your waist look stunning, love your work out videos, very helpful thanx

  • great for obliques, however what can you do for main abs, middle part and rear back, with eights i merlery do deadlift and jump rope, and shadow boxing, and squats with a bar weigts, great video by the way, great atitiude also! like people who are positive and real, bless u

  • Hi, this is just one of the exercises that I do during my sit ups routine. When you have time, please check out my other ab workout videos. I think you will find them helpful for exercises to add to your routine. I also have a very challenging advanced ab workout video available for rental here on YouTube. You can find all my videos easily by going to my channel page and browsing my uploaded videos. Thanks so much for your great feedback :o)

  • i'll start doing it every day..

    hope it'll work...

    thanks for this..

  • well im 18 and my body measurements are

    38

    33

    42

and i like my boobs and butt size but i want to make my waist at least from a 24-28 hopefully this will help mee =]]

  • thank you for this! Just a question. I want to have a smaller waist, wittled waist, not a wide one. Won't this work the more deep set obliques and therefore widen the waist at the sides?

  • Hi, don't worry about your waist getting bigger from this exercise, it won't. You will tone your obliques and those muscles help pull in excess skin. Gaining weight would cause your waist to get bigger.

  • @YouTips4U thanks very much for replying! You're wonderful. Starting those today :D

  • @MissLalaland89 They make this waist compressor called a "Squeem" you can get one from ebay or on their website. It acts like a corset, holding your stomach in place. Wear it when working out to get your stomach to sweat and it;ll eventually helpgive you a nice "dip" on your sides

    =)

  • @HeyBeautiful18

Thank you very much for that tip, I'll check it out right now!

    <3

  • but wouldnt using weights make your ab muscles get bigger rather than just burn the fat off and make your abs smoother and tight?

  • Hi, this will not make your ab muscles bigger, it will make them stronger and tighter and more able to pull your skin in. Using weights taxes your stomach muscles more which causes them to fatigue quicker so you get more out of your ab routine without having to do hundreds of crunches, etc.

  • @YouTips4U i did these tonight at the gym after my cardio and i thought i was gonna die! Its really hard! but im gonna keep doing it!

  • what are some things you can use if you dont have wieghts?

  • Perhaps a heavy book, or a jug of water.

  • @YouTips4U thank you

  • you're adorable!

  • Absolutely!

  • whats the difference between holding one or both weights in each hands? does it matter?

  • i really like this! i will try it and let u kno how it goes ...

  • You have such a beautiful figure. I was just wondering aswell as all this exercise is their a healthy diet behind it aswell? :)

  • Absolutely! I truly believe you are what you eat. I try to focus on the healthy food groups including whole grains, veggies, lean meats, dairy and fruits and I practice portion control. When you have time, please take a look at my portion control diet video and my breakfast video. I think you will find them both very helpful :o)

  • sexy girl ;)

  • If it is hurting my back while I am doing this, am I doing something wrong?

  • Hi, you may be using incorrect form. Pay close attention to posture and go down only as far as is comfortable. If it is still bothering you, then you should discontinue doing it. Not every exercise is suitable for everyone. It's very much a trial and error as every persons body and posture is different. Hope that helps :o)

  • If it is hurting my back a bit while I am doing this, am I doing it wrong?

  • im a guy and this looks like itll work very well for even males.

  • Hi, it definitely works for both men and women :o)

  • thank you.

  • Sweetie, u r a genius! After doing ur wkout for 3 weeks; I now have a 19inch waistline.

  • Hi, thanks so much for sharing! Congratulations on your hard work. I'm so glad I could help :o)

  • thank you doll

  • i don't know how you have time to do all these tips you give us on the weekly basis

  • whats the difference between opening your legs apart or having them close together?
