@AnnabelMe well I know the the beginning credits actually uses the cartoon. this movie was just a reason to leech off of the popularity of the cartoon. they could've named it after the Inspector cartoon but just randomly calling a jewel the pink panther to bring people in is disappointing.

I love Steve Martin's movies. That being said, I think Kevin Kline should've been cast as the inspector instead. He looks more like Peter Sellers and his sense of humor and style is closer than Mr. Martin's. Still a good movie though.
