if you want to get technical the best weapon in the game is mehrunes dagger because you can buff its damage output with all the sneak perks and the gloves you get in the theives guild to amp up your attack to around 3,000 dps since you can have 30x your daggers standard damage. although deadric daggers technically can do more mehrunes dagger also has a special perk of a 5% instant kill chance even plot important npc's.
deadric swords are better once they have any buff... in fact you can make a 2handed daedric longsword with "vampire" enchantment and its actually has all the characteristics of the ebony blade only stronger. that being said the ebony blade is still my favorite sword i've found so far just because of how quick it is when you max out your single handed skills (even though its twohanded it draws its skills from the single handed tech tree)
i maxed it out around 20-30 lvl, and my 1 handers did more damage than it, with 5 pts into 1 handers and 5 pts into 2 handers, its good for leveling 2 handers thats about it, imo dont get it, it ruined one characters account cause i killed the wrong people and interfered with my alduin quest, my masks quest, and my stones quest, if ur gonna kill 10 people with it, id choose followers/companions, its a wall ornament past lvl 30, and dont kill murcurio in bee & barb, hes the best follower ull get

sorry but thats really not the strongest weapon........my daedric sword does 100 and my bow does 135.......if u want to get it that strong after u smith them go to the grind stone to improve them and equip every smithing item you have [potions, rings, necklaces] whatever it is and it gets pretty strong just make sure u have ebony ingots :p

this is kinda bull. my ebony mace has been upgraded to 64 damage and i dual wield it with a 42 damage dagger. Plus, i have dual weilding speed perks so i attack quickly. So really this weapong isnt that good especially since u have to kill tons of people and make your bounty high to upgrade it.
to really enhance the power you have with the blade, you must level up your one-handed perks cuz for some reason it benefits from one-handed but levels your two-handed.

@811ahvjc What you need to do is find armor that is enchanted with a skill that helps you do better in archery, one handed, etc. Then you disenchant it and put it in your armor. But for full effect you need high enchanting. I did this and my drastic warhammer does 216

You know there used to be a time when weapons were balanced as hell.. they did a set amount of damage and maybe a little enchanted.. but hearing all these damage numbers just blows that to hell.. i mean a 600 dmg bow isn't really necessary, to be honest alduin would probably shit his pants at that kind of damage
@SuperOnliine Using a mixture of alchemy, enchantment, and smithing you can reach extremely high damage levels with weapons. This is also with four fortify one handed 47% enchantments on my armor.
Your daedric hammer could do a lot more with the right perks, enchantments, and smithing.

Enchant items to fortify alchemy. Then make potions to fortify enchanting.
Then while using the potions to fortify enchanting, enchant even better fortify alchemy items. Then make even better fortify enchanting potions. Do this until you reach the max fortify alchemy and smithing enchantments (29% each). Then make the best possible smithing potion and use it while wearing best fortify smithing armor to upgrade weapon.
@SuperOnliine A hint, you can wear falmer helmet and a circlet at the same time.
Therefore you can have 5 items enchanted to fortify alchemy instead of 4. You can still only have 4 items enchanted to fortify smithing because you can't enchant headwear with fortify smithing, but you can make better fortify enchanting and smithing potions.
@SuperOnliine The point is not how much damage a weapon can deal by itself. IF you have a gear of 40% enhanced twohanded enchantment(that's four of them), your dam will be 222*(40*4+100)%=577.2. And if you used the boring enchanting/alchemy cycle you can up the 40 to 47( i've seen other people having 48 with the falmer helmet bug), which gives you 222*(47*4+100)%=639.36 dam. PS we don't talk about the fortify restoration bug here, that's the one makes eveything imbalanced.

@SuperOnliine The point of making a weapon better is SMITHING. And to have other gears have the effect of enhancing the damage your weapon does, you need ENCHANTING. But that's just the basic. To make smithing better, you need better 1, SMITHING gear which is ENCHANTED 2, fortify smithing potions that requires ALCHEMY. AND, enchanting and alchemy can work together to make each other stronger. IF you just want a semi-awesome weapon, then just do what I said. IF you want it better,

Now you can make the best smithing gear and smithing potion PLUS the best enchanted fortify onehanded/twohanded/archery gear. Now wear the smithing set and potion to the grindstone, you get the best weapons. In combat, wear the enchanted fortify damage gear.

All you gotta do is to get 25 speach, go to riften and talk with ungrien in Black briary, and peruade with him... the glitch is that u can persude him about the same thing non stop.. so you will get 100 speech in about 20 minutes. by that ull be about lv 16 i think, maybe 20 (depends what level you were when u began to do it)

@biingo12345 Most weapons which are enchanted to do damage or absorb health do so using destruction 'magic'. All you need is 100% fortify destruction armor and the Nightingale blade has infinite charge. Plus, the nightingale blade can be improved unlike the ebony blade.

But tnx for the advice, i usually use nightingale blade & Chillrend or Woe dagger + daedra dagger. (depends if its battle or assassination)

the Ebony Blade is a decent weapon for going on Killing sprees when you're bored. The easiest way to "return it to it's former glory" would be to kill every single member of the Companions after you've become the Harbinger. Honestly though its a POS unless you have the Two handed tree teched out and fortify two handed on a piece of armor. all 5 Armsman perks + fortify one hand 40% (grand soul gem maximum enchant) puts a deadric sword at triple digit strength.
@ackers5861 I have 100 smithing and the improve magical weapons perk but i cannot improve this ebony sword nor the "masque of clavicus vile" ... it must be a glitch.
@CinnamonSinBin you may not be at a high enough level or have the right perks to upgrade it to legendary. Having potions and gear that fortifies smithing can help you improve it to legendary and beyond as well.

@SuperOnliine Using a mixture of alchemy, enchantment, and smithing you can reach extremely high damage levels with weapons. This is also with four fortify one handed 47% enchantments on my armor.
Your daedric hammer could do a lot more with the right perks, enchantments, and smithing.

@SuperOnliine You need alchemy, enchant, and smithing at 100.
Enchant items to fortify alchemy. Then make potions to fortify enchanting.
Then while using the potions to fortify enchanting, enchant even better fortify alchemy items. Then make even better fortify enchanting potions. Do this until you reach the max fortify alchemy and smithing enchantments (29% each). Then make the best possible smithing potion and use it while wearing best fortify smithing armor to upgrade weapon.

@SuperOnliine A hint, you can wear falmer helmet and a circlet at the same time.
Therefore you can have 5 items enchanted to fortify alchemy instead of 4. You can still only have 4 items enchanted to fortify smithing because you can't enchant headwear with fortify smithing, but you can make better fortify enchanting and smithing potions.

@SuperOnliine The point is not how much damage a weapon can deal by itself. IF you have a gear of 40% enhanced twohanded enchantment(that's four of them), your dam will be 222*(40*4+100)%=577.2. And if you used the boring enchanting/alchemy cycle you can up the 40 to 47( i've seen other people having 48 with the falmer helmet bug), which gives you 222*(47*4+100)%=639.36 dam. PS we don't talk about the fortify restoration bug here, that's the one makes eveything imbalanced.

@SuperOnliine The point of making a weapon better is SMITHING. And to have other gears have the effect of enhancing the damage your weapon does, you need ENCHANTING. But that's just the basic. To make smithing better, you need better 1, SMITHING gear which is ENCHANTED 2, fortify smithing potions that requires ALCHEMY. AND, enchanting and alchemy can work together to make each other stronger. IF you just want a semi-awesome weapon, then just do what I said. IF you want it better,

@SuperOnliine (continued)If you want it to its best, you need do what @aspade01 said, use the ALCHEMY-ENCHANTING loop to make the best alchemy gear and best enchanting potion. Now you can make the best smithing gear and smithing potion PLUS the best enchanted fortify onehanded/twohanded/archery gear. Now wear the smithing set and potion to the grindstone, you get the best weapons. In combat, wear the enchanted fortify damage gear.

@SANTA146 not more ? my friends dagger got over 500 dmg on each ;) (2 dagers = 1000 + dmg) but thats not starter weapons, this one is easy to obtain, all u gotta do is to level up fast to obtain it ;) (how to level up fast: Get speech to 25. go to riften and talk to Ungrien and power level speech to 100 in 20 minutes) then ur about lv 17 ;)

@MultiKnull if ur talking about the ''level 20 is a low level'' thing, then i know an easy glitch to reach it easy. All you gotta do is to get 25 speach, go to riften and talk with ungrien in Black briary, and peruade with him... the glitch is that u can persude him about the same thing non stop.. so you will get 100 speech in about 20 minutes. by that ull be about lv 16 i think, maybe 20 (depends what level you were when u began to do it)

1: Ebony blade's damage increases with 1handed skill.
why? Because Bethezda thought it would be to strong if 2h perk increases the damage.
2: The life steal begins with 10, but when you kill enough ''friends/companions'' the blade will be upgraded to 30 life steal.
So my blades damage aint higher because of my 2 handed skill..

@biingo12345 Most weapons which are enchanted to do damage or absorb health do so using destruction 'magic'. All you need is 100% fortify destruction armor and the Nightingale blade has infinite charge. Plus, the nightingale blade can be improved unlike the ebony blade.

the Ebony Blade is a decent weapon for going on Killing sprees when you're bored. The easiest way to "return it to it's former glory" would be to kill every single member of the Companions after you've become the Harbinger. Honestly though its a POS unless you have the Two handed tree teched out and fortify two handed on a piece of armor. all 5 Armsman perks + fortify one hand 40% (grand soul gem maximum enchant) puts a deadric sword at triple digit strength.

@CinnamonSinBin you may not be at a high enough level or have the right perks to upgrade it to legendary. Having potions and gear that fortifies smithing can help you improve it to legendary and beyond as well.
