I agree that wasting food is well wastefull. However, not wasting food doesn't automatically correlate to said food finding its way to people who dont have any.

i think the hk culture contributes to a big part of the food wasting in hk. In america, it is normal to take home left overs from restaurants, but in hk it is not. Hk people will throw away their food if they don't finish it. Another thing is that hk cannot be compared to the US b/c most people in US have cars and most people in hk take MTR, bus or walk. It is very inconvenient to carry left over food around.

I am studying abroad in Hong Kong right now. The food is cheap (compare to US), but at the same time,, ordinary local food is really bad (not foreign franchises or relatively expensive restaurants). It's really hard to finish the food if it does not taste good. I think the government should give incentives to any restaurants to improve their food taste.

Gomixer does not make food in water it only make it go in to the sewage insstead of throwing into a greenbin. People are cheapskates in HK i doubt they throw away food that easily. Just make it into fertilizers or feed farm animals with it.

i admit that I would occasionally have leftover food as well, and i think it's so important that we need to me more educated about food waste. reducing portion sizes may help. i've also been to this all u can eat sushi restaurant in the US that charges people if they leave things over. think that might be one possible approach for some restaurants.
