For the variable speed grinder I was looking at the metabo inox which revs between 2000 and 7000 rpm. What is the desired speed of grinding? Also the pads are they from 50 till 3,000? They are of coarse for dry grinding as the wet grinding need a different tool I can buy a dry grinder for $400 and the wet grinder for $635 approx which is a German tool.

Shouldn't you have someone with a water hose spraying the tile as you polish it?

Yes, there are grinders with a hole through the shaft where a water hose is hooked to and it trickles water on the polishing head and makes the polishing disc last about 10x longer because they don't over heat. You don't open a water hose all the way and pour water all over the place.
