GTA 4 PS3 runs 720p

on the back of the game it says up to 1080p but when u display it on the tv its really 720p

The 640p is the NATIVE RESOLUTION meaning the game is displayed natively at 640p. It can still be upscaled to 720p and 1080p but since it is 640p natively, the game doesn't look as good as it does on Xbox. And believe me, I've done side-by-side comparisons. The reason why GTA IV is 640p on PS3 and 720p on Xbox is because the game was developed on the Xbox and ported over to the PS3. If the game were developed on PS3, however, the game would have much more potential.

if you have 360 or ps3 you must have a hd tv otherwise your not getting an experience of the potential graphics and display

Yaa, agree, I was dissapointet when I connected my ps3 and put on GTA4, to my 46" bravia, it aint looking good in 720p - wonder when the ps4 will be here hehe :D

the i in 1080i means interlaced and the p in 720 p and 1080p means progessive

You cannot tell the difference between 720p and 1080p, unless its about 40' or higher. Anything lower then that will have almost no difference(unless you sit less then 1 1/2 away from a tv, which isn't good for your eyes).

720p on 16:9 = 1280*720

1080p on 16:9 = 1920*1080

a 17' pc screen allready has 1280*1024 so you will notice the difference.

It is way better on a BIGGER screen. Lets say you have 2 28" TVS side by side one is 720p and the other is 1080p, And you ask a bunch of people which looks better and you will mostly likely get the answer of they Look the same!

1080p is worth it on tvs about 32" and above.

Going to pick up a 50" Samsung 650 Series 1080p tv i got on black friday :D

Xbox 360 doesn't use DirectX.

Yes it does, it uses DirectX9 same as the PS3.

Conmana10 the total game size for GTA 4 on both consoles is 6.8Gb and the PS3 only installs 2-3Gb of the game not the full thing.

if you notice, the screen gets cut off at the sides so you really cant see your ammo or guns on the top right side, i have that problem too

on ur tv there should be an option to change the picture format.. this includes options like widescreen super zoom... zoom...16:9 and chage it to the best to fit ur tv and it should work

yes it does BUT to make it run 1080 you must go to display settings>custom>on HDMI tick only 576p and 1080p and game will load at 1080.I cant see a real difference BUT my monitor has native 1080p so looks little bit better at 1080. The game was made for 720 anyway.

On monitors 22" no make diference , but if you buy one hp 22" or samsung 22" like me you have 1080p on HDMI

Problem with your setup is that you are not getting 1920X1080. Your getting 1680X1050. Your display will downscale to fit your monitor.I have a 24" LG with hdmi and thats 1080p native.

mate all your problem is that you need to go on your ps3 display setting then go on the output then go to that thing were its ticks all the different HD outpts only let it tick 1080p and 576p or whatever then problem solved

It depends on what kinda HD cable you have. the more expensive cable the better.

Not really if you use HDMI because it's digital. The data gets sent at the same speed and doesn't lose quality. Analog cables that's true but not HDMI
