  • that's a MAN baby! (just in case u didn't already know)

    great tune tho!

  • Okay calm your fucking horses everyone. Unfortunately I wasn't born in the period where this song was popular, although I wish I was. So if it wasn't for Family Guy then I wouldn't have even known about this incredible song.

Good on most of you for defending your hipster attitudes but Everybody, Everybody, Everybody has a right to enjoy this song for what it's worth, regardless of what brought them here. Can we please just all shut up and express our mutual appreciation for this song? :)

  • @strident212 That is a true statement you said there" uptight and angry" I'm 46 years old and I grew up in the 70's. 80's was a blast! The 90's the shit music was trickling in and now it is like a rushing roaring waves of more shit music. "Yo Yo lets kill yo mama blah blah blah" and I did not mind going to night clubs to dance to this dance music in the 90's. It took a lil bit of gettin use to but I do enjoy a happy upbeat music. Have a great day : )

  • THIS WAS WHEN MUSIC WAS GOOD!

  • fantastic! Love it, thanks.

  • fuck family guy.

  • Superb bass, beat, classic organ, pinnacle of dance music, light, stylish, fun, and enduring, from a time long gone.

  • @strident212 that comment is what i have been trying to express to everyone for years...cheers to you friend

  • i love this song then and still do now and I was about in rd or 4th grade when this came out

  • someone correct me if i am wrong. but did this song come out around 1991? i seem to remember it from this time zone.

  • oooooww oowwww

  • this band was known has Milli Vanillii's Sister

  • i looove this music. whatever happened to all the cool funky/techno/club/dance music with diva-ish black chicks singing? now we have beyonce, which soooo does not compare.

  • Damn Family Guy lol

  • no hes out touring with black box =D

  • family guy

  • 3:07-3:12 her smile is like absolutly gorgeous

  • Martha Wash is one of the best singers out there and as one half of the original Weather Girls, she certainly can belt out and show how it is done.

  • Fact, the girl in this video is lip syncing Martha Wash's vocals. I believe Martha should have been seen, she is the one with the pipes singing this song.

  • @kindredtheembraced DAMN RIGHT!!!!! give credit where credit is due!

  • It's astonishing that they can pump an ad to you without interruption, but when the video you'd actually like to watch starts playing, it stutters.

  • I came here because i just found this song by typing everybody and this popped up :)

  • my mom had the vinyl, she abused that thing when i was growing up LOL that record had like 5 different mixes to this song including one in spanish LOL. i love my mom!!

  • UTTER FIERCENESS!!!

  • cool as ice brought me here

  • I've always loved this song & anything else w/ Martha Wash's voice on it! The thing that I know was fucked up is that Martha never appeared in the videos so that who ever didn't know would know that she's responsible for it all! I guess they did it b/c of her size but they can go & fuck themselves! I bet she receives a check EVERY TIME this is played... So the jokes on them!

Who hasn't heard of this way before 'family guy'?! It's like 2 decades old!

It makes me long for House music.

  • A perfect what it is: its from the 'clubbin' decade of the 90's.....

  • when was this song made? obviously not 2009...

  • RIP Loleatta Hathaway... this is one of the best clubbin' songs ever...glad I was clubbin' when it hit the streets...what memories!

  • one of the dopest dance tracks from back then. CLASSIC!

  • This song and 'Vogue' always reminds me of going to the mall.

  • oooWWW!

  • lol 1:43

    makes me wanna dance

  • ... I love this part.

I'm not here because of a fucking tv show.

I'm here because I was alive in the 1990's, and I love music.

  • hell ya i did

  • Techno-Viking would be awesome in this. Techno-Viking may or may not slap your water away for the suggestion...

  • i dont care if she didn't sing, that chick is hot as shit

  • @whylovenick You sure that's a chick? Or someone who was born a chick anyway . . . I always thought "she" had a little tranny feel to her.

  • this was played on ellen todayy!

  • @brunettesisterz i saw it!

  • a late 80's disco throw back....what is wrong with a simple beat that anybody can dance to? and NO drop offs in the beat...when it comes to music that is good for the soul, a simple but pumpin bass, tambourine, brass accents and soulful gospel-esque vocals CAN NOT BE BEAT! In my HUMBLE opinion, this song is not the greatest song ever recorded, but as an ear-pleasing dance tune, it is formula-ly & technically PERFECT....this beat cuts shakes you to the bone!!!!

  • i LOVE this song.. #dontjudgeme

  • i LOVE this song.. #dontjudgeme

  • the JAM :D

  • Is it more or does the beginning sound like a gay club/drag club...

    great song though.

  • @whiteipod2000 IDK. That might explain why the dancers are wearing short shorts

  • Martha Wash sang her ass off!!!

  • @elapiggy62 same thing i said,what a voice

  • lol cleaveland~

  • thumbs up

  • "If i danced like that all the guy's would fuck me, they'd fuck me real hard." Buffalo Bill

  • i came here because of Selena :P

  • @elbug84 Quintanilla-Pérez or Gomez?

  • @VideoGameStupid

    my lovely songbird... Mrs. Quintanilla-Perez

  • @elbug84 Oh ok that makes more sense than Gomez since she was big in the 80s/90s.

  • Fuckin Cleveland!

  • Thumps up if you only came here because you worked at Stop and Shop and this song was stuck in your head

  • i love how the "OW" is sampled from Cameo.

  • Can u say, Class Act much?

  • Isnt this a man singing???

  • @mimiyuup

Nah, it's a woman by the name of Martha Wash. Used to be part of a group called the Weather Girls. One of the most distinctive voices in pop/dance music.

  • This stupid bitch can't even lip sync Martha Wash. They should have just put Martha in the damn video. What a shame.

    Great old skool track!

  • Wooty Woot xD

  • This brings back my time in Europe!

  • Please don't get mad at me... at 1:37 I thought she was saying sour cream. I've always said sour cream!!!!

  • did anyone else ever play basketball to this song on the old boom boxes when it first came out on cassette as jock jams? ...seems like such a long time ago when i thought growing up would take to long haha, isn't life funny?

  • This song was bumping at my birthday party was I was a youngin back in the 90's...good timez good timez

  • early 90s dance music was soooooo good!

  • i love black women...

    wow..

black women are the supreme women on the planet..

    oh yea...amazing song.

  • This reminds me of the 1991 NBA Slam Dunk Contest...When they were bumpin' this song when Shawn Kemp and Dee Brown were in it.

  • LOL ! Been bump this b4 Family guy

  • this was on family guy? i love family guy but I love the 90's and this song, didn't come here cuz of that i grew up with black box

  • Ow *stares at camera*

  • Thumbs upppp

  • @angeljujubean and goliaboi I came here for the good music

  • @iirandomemofox well thumb that too.

  • @angeljujubean No way homie, I came to get away from the today's crappy hip-hop and rap craps flowing through the radio air wave and through young punks' cars!!! PLEASE BRING BACK THE HORN WORKS IN MUSIC. Thanks.

  • @angeljujubean HAHA totally!!

  • @angeljujubean lol bro i just saw this episode clip on t.v and just came here for it lol lol lol

  • I came here because I'm tracking through all the original songs used in the Jock Jams mix.

  • One tasty thing about life is that a dude can look more attractived dressing as a woman than a gal does; one good example is this dude "singing" in this video...Gorgeous legs, dude, whoever you are!!!

  • aaaaooo!!!

  • This so reminds me of Streets of Rage related music dude.

  • @enigma2488 rofl, funny you should say that. I was watching TAS Streets of rage 2 speed run and came here cause I could have swore the first stage sounded like this.

  • @enigma2488 Yeah, when music was actually good y'know?

  • This reminds me of being a kid and going to the skating ring at Sportland in PA. lol Good memories!

  • Thumb down because knowing they tried to cheat Martha Wash out of credit for the vocals ruins it for me.

  • I DID! LMAO

  • who came here after watching Cool as Ice staring vanilla ice give me word

  • I came here because i love this song & the band!!!!!!!I have great memories with this song......

  • Black Box, all of the dance music artists of the 90's are just awesome!

  • i was one of those male dancers stomping in work boots. in retrospect, this does not look good on a job resume.

  • who dug this song before family guy (which was fkn cool) old school pop house. @ every party in the day!!!

  • @jzhelqpgh

    I sure as hell did!

  • This is my song right here! Couldn't think of the artist! This jam gets you going from the first note! If it doesn't something's wrong wit ya!!! Ha Ha!!!

  • This song is over 20 years old, its still good. gets you going in the morning!!

  • @jm113825 THATS SAD THO..........BUT I THINK THE ONLY PERSON THAT SOUND A LITTLE LIKE MARTHA IS CHERYL PEPSII RILEY WOULD U AGREE LOL.

  • One of the all time best disco hits of the 90s

  • me too!! love it tks Ellen

  • me too!! love it

  • My girl is watching Ellen in the other room and she used this as her song.. I guess she has a different song everyday, but when this came on I just had to youtube it.

  • @ANecessaryEnd ~ LoL! Me Too~

  • Damn makes me wanna play some of the old streets of rage games....

  • i thought this was a tranny at first....

  • @youngjaybo oh it is...it is!

  • I've been looking for this song for years!

  • I was 21 when this song was out..reminds me of my night clubbing days! Dance music was much better then than now! Martha Walsh had an excellent voice, should've gave her credit. It was all about the look then!

  • @SuperCallaway12 You meant Martha Wash

  • I did come here after watching the family guy clip but I REALLY like the song

  • When this song first came out....Everybody knew that wasn't really her singing it!!!

This song was way famous before Family Guy came out!!!!!

  • Yea but they all had the propensity to be overweight!

  • yea i did, i heard this song before but didnt know the artist

  • I knew this song before Family Guy, but I was little when this was out. I could not remember the name of it to save my life...When I saw it on FG I was too happy! :-D

  • Thumbs if you knew this song before Cleveland!

  • No came here because of the Throwback Jamz station on Comcast...

  • oow, oow!

  • Theshe is actually a he. There was much controversy in 1990s apprently involving Martha Walsh (actual vocalist) and the man/woman in the video. She/he was ot singing, Ms. Walsh was.

  • @MrOu83 if you look at a picture of Martha Walsh you'll understand why she wasn't featured in this song...and why she can sing so damn good!! Fat black women are the best vocalists

  • @np494609 Are you certain this is the video/artist? I know there was an uproar in the early 90's with a "bigger women" doing the actual vocals and not portrayed in the video, but I am not certain this is the artist.

  • @dolph87499 I'm not, someone else said it was Martha Walsh

  • @np494609 YES ITS HER, I KNOW HER VOICE O THATS HER......

  • @maxday1000 U KNOW WHO SOUND LIKE HER. Cheryl Pepsii Riley.

  • @np494609 That's silly! Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan and Patti Labelle weren't fat when they were at their best.

  • This album has some seriously great dance tunes. 1990 was a good year!

  • @mamalied

1990 was a GREAT year!! Year I graduated High School lol!!

  • WOW THIS IS REALLY WIERD! IM SO GLAD I WASNT BIRN IN THE 90'S!

  • thumbs up if you didnt come here because of family guy

  • @goliaboi

My childhood memories brought me here. I was 11 years old when this song was released. Remember it like it was yesterday.

  • @goliaboi lol i did

  • I came to reminisce how I once had her figure.

  • Hey, thats what they do over in Europe, they steal Americans shit and make a mint. You got to be soulful to sound like that. Marsha had the church in her, and you cant fake that.

  • I was in the Army when this came out. I argued with another trooper over this very song. I said aint no way in hell that skinny heifer was bellowing out those vocals. I told that dude I thought it sounded like Martha Wash singing. I was dead right about it too. Yea and she sued the hell out of Blackbox and C&C Music Factory for stealing her vocals and lipsincing her beuatiful voice. Martha Wash Queen of House/Club Music

  • I thought that was RuPaul's sister! Same wig!

  • This was the song in the early 90's. I can remember, one night, they had Black Box on Soul Train, and this woman was on stage doing her thing. After the song was done, and Don Cornelius interviewed her, they had to get a translator for him to do so. If I'm correct , girlfriend was French. That was a real "What the hell?!?!?!" moment. Still, I liked the song, but that was just another reminder that not everything is what it seems to be. Then, a while later, Milli Vanilli got found out...

  • @jarbon5

Are you saying that her being French is somehow a bad thing?

  • @perdici0n No, I wasn't. Just speaking to the fact that this group was doing the same thing Milli Vanilli got in trouble for:)

  • I always though that the 90's was a really interesting, dynamic time for music. This was not the kind of music I listened to then, but it doesn't negate the fact that this was a JAM. Grunge was all over the place, gansta rap was starting to lose it's hold on the R&B charts, and everything was moving toward a kind of techno sound, evident by this song. This sound had peaked out around 96-97. This song brings back alot of memories though and it holds up to the test of time.

  • Which video was the lawsuit issues over... this one or C&C Music Factory?

  • they ripped off martha wash, its her vocals

  • The lady that actually sings the song is HOTTER.

  • That woman is HOT.

  • sounds better with cleveland

  • what's family guy? CLASSIC track

  • Funny

  • Who is this family guy person?

  • I did NOT come to this video because of "Family Guy." Yuck.

I came because this brings back the BEST memories. 1990. John Blair at Roxy, Chelsea, NYC. All of you who where there know what I mean. Combat boots, jeans shorts, "Queer Boy" T-shirts, beads, whistles. The BEST of times.

  • @FlaneurHawaii love your comment and your memories are similar to mine! I was 19 when this came out an remember getting the car washed, dousing myself in Joop, making sure my spiral perm was JUICY ENOUGH, pickin' up my best friend, and riding around for hours thinking I was GROWN! LOL! Now at 39, these are some of my favorite days! So true when my parents said "enjoy being a kid son and letting us take care of you.....these are the best days of your life whether you know it or not now."

  • This song was my jam back in the day.

  • family guy.

  • So, we're now at the point where every time you watch a video of something kitschy from 20+ years ago the whole comments section is "LOLZ THIS IS FROM FAMILY GUY\CLEVELAND SHOW\AMERICAN DAD". Delightful.
