If you knew what it was to be violated by another human being in such a way that they ruin not only your everyday life, but your connections with members of the opposite sex, render you incapable of healthy sexual relationships, & produce memories that you cannot escape... Regarding some "facts" mentioned in this video...

There are a lot more abandoned pets than there are battered women. Also, when women go to the 1500 shelters they don't get euthanized the way the animals do when they are sent to the 2500 animal "shelters".

So those stats which seem to be suggesting that Americans care more for their pets than their women are rather pointless.

All of the women in my family own handguns.....I was sprayed by 10% oc for training in the Marines , most people can fight through it , some can't .

Im not saying get a gun , but there are other alternatives , batons , knives , The stun gun was a nice idea but I would use one that shoots the darts on a wire just to keep my distance. Some good training , then maybe a gun. My mother has all of the above she is 4 foot 9 inches tall and 105lbs.

Rape, Domestic Violence, and Sexual Harrasment have been conceptually linked for strategic purposes. This way beliefs about the cause of one can easily transfer to the other. But these are very separate phenomena. In intimate relationships, women actually initiate the bulk of violent conflict. In the office, both males and females recieve unwanted attention from the opposite sex. And "rape" needs to be clearly defined before it can be talked about rationally and intelligently without misleading.

I don't know about how police are trained and edducated in your jurisdiciton, but in mine they are indoctrinated by VAW advocates. They have overtly sexists policies in dealing with possible cases of domestic violence, and they also have a safety first, guilty until proven innocent mandate. Not all men are as protective as they should be. Though probably most men are decent there are many that are very ignorant, ruthless, twisted individuals who see women as subhuman. I speak from first hand experience when I say these things. As far as the law is concerned, just like anything else, there's room for improvement. There are times when it works against the victim. I'll admit there are women who abuse the system but the ones that really need it don't always get exactly what they need.

I have an idea, women's only gun ranges. Many rifle and pistol ranges can inevitably develop a macho character that even though not offensive or aggressive to women, it is certainly not appealing unless personally introduced. There are exceptions but there is not proportional representation.

Guns can be fun for both genders and if women can get experienced and familiar with guns then they can be ready to defend themselves with the most effective tool.

Then only the law has to be changed.

For domestic abuse it would be far better to support police and laws that will over-rule women who shield men from justice due to battered-wife's/Stockholm syndrome.

As for associates, ex-partners and relatives who are violent, women have to be ready to sever all feelings and not show any mercy for someone who tries to hurt them. This is why men are not victims they can emotionally detach to defend themselves. Also why most attackers are men IMHO.
