you can buy police lights from a ton of companies online...i mean of course they mean to sell to government agencies but they never ask for that information...a sale is a sale
Be Warned that Californian Police have ordered 10 000 Australian made Chev Caprice cop cars, theyre basically a Pontiac G8 with a few inches added to the wheelbase..... just google 2011 Chevrolet Caprice Police Car Revealed
they will be fast and handle better than any US sedan other than maybe G8 =)
@Pule3 I said handle better, I didnt say straight line speed.. The CTS-V has some serious straight line speed but it wont handle like either of those cars.
@Yutubetopteensingers ROFL are you actually serious? Honestly i thought it was a simple slip up on your part but after that last statement I'm positive you know absolutely nothing about cars. First of all that police G8 is simply a weaker version of the G8 GT not even the GXP so its handling is nothing special in that price range (US cars included). Second for your info the CTS-V is the only sedan to break 8 minutes at Nurburgring, being one of (if not the) best performance sedans in the world.
@Pule3 Additionally that police G8 GT has been outfitted with a full trunk of electronics, bull bars, heavy steal rims and reinforcement making it into a very obese car. The suspension and the breaks are upgraded to heavy duty ones to handle all that extra metal, and none of those things help that car in any way to handle better. All those components are build for durability and not performance as their main focus, so that G8 GT now handles and drives like a normal 260hp G8.
@Pule3 Son, Im not even from the US. I love when people like you quote things like Nurburgring. I wondered if you would bring that up because it shows you read a lot without always understanding what those times mean. Ive driven 5 different cars on the Nurburgring from a Golf GTi to a GT3 RS. Youve never driven any of these cars, you just repeat what you read. You wont find a suburban street with 120mph bends. Thats what youre using to compare? I was a kid once, so I'll leave you alone.
@Yutubetopteensingers Hahaha Nurb is a benchmark, it wouldn't be used if it didn't represent performance.Your a complete moron if you think that a car that does well there can be taken lightly in the real world. For you to compare the performance of a g8 to a cts-v in any way is retarded. As for the platform they were planing on having a new one that would share components with other gm platforms but that's been put on hold due to a shortage of money.
@Yutubetopteensingers Even if the next gen cts-v shared platform components with the one used for the g8 they are still miles apart. To think something like the platform alone is the measure of a vehicle is ridiculous, because according to your way of thinking, something like the 993 is comparable to the beetle.....nice. Stick to grand turism and stay off the internet child.
@Pule3 its not the G8, learn from people that know more than you.
Call me all the names you want, it makes you look even dumber. The Police cars are getting the new, lighter, next generation chassis that the CTS-V will be getting next..
There's a saying on youtube for which you qualify.... 10 yr olds on youtube have as much say as us adults..
Read what I said and learn something new instead of being a know it all that doesnt know it all. Have a nice day son.
@Yutubetopteensingers What I've learned from you: 1)An overweight police caprice (BTW you called it a g8 first, which it more or less is) is the best handling US sedan 2)CTS-V is only good in a straight line 3) cars that do well on Nurburgring don't do well on the streets 4)If two cars share platform components they must be equal to each other despite everything else it takes to create a great vehicle. Thank you for all the great information you have provided me with. Age = Knowledge? Maybe not.
@TheParody101 if you aren't an officer, or any other federal agent you can't buy them from any legal place. You could start a PMC and then apply to the US Government for some. But it's not recommended.
I know the state of California requires one steady burning light facing the front visible for a certain distance, but I was just wondering if there were any other like requirements that emergency vehicles in the state have to meet. Thanks!
Gotta be a Calif.cop with the steady red light. This settup is an improvement over the steady red showing thru the windshield, which was an improvement over a red spotlight. Go CHP.
Whoever designed this car, damn good job. That is how all unmarked cars should look. A crown victoria is noticeable enough without having antennae on the side or in the middle of the trunk. Great looking car. I saw a white Chrsyler 300 unmarked not long ago.
haaa.. ok if you say so.. plus you gotta consider what would be under the hood of that supra.. and not juss a supra like any hot azz car in general gto, sti gallardo etc
this is a rediculous argument, there is no doubt the supra would take it. most heavily tuned supras out there are running 450 to 500 plus wheel hp, a mustang running 500 wheel hp has a hard time with a supra, think about.......
Actually every time he turns on his Emergency lights it turns on his video dash cam and goes straight to the headquarters. Cops can't turn their lights on for fun anymore.
cops do that shit all the time in my town. Ride your ass and throw their lights on and when you start to pull over they tear off for about a block and shut their lights off and keep going. Then again one of my friends from highschools husband was a PD officer up until about 4 days ago when he got caught with possession of weed.
dude most of the ppl watching these vids kno wat the hell they're doin. they're either firefighters/ emts/ or ACCTUAL POLICE OFFICERS....... SUMTHIN UR NOT
I drive a MARKED ford explorer, it doesn't have black rims. I can show you police cars that you would have never guessed were police cars a.k.a. unmarked cars. If you look closely on the front license plate theres a sheriff badge. Who the fuck is gonna pull over a car that 'looks' like a cop car? Other then license plate check, there is no way a police officer can tell. Lights don't give an officer pc to stop you only when you use them. You're probably some 13 year old anyways.
Most of us don't have to do research because we actually know what we're talking about. You obviously don't. So next time you try to give people the wrong information, make sure it's not a group of people who know what the hell they're talking about...
I've seen the other installs this company does, and I can assure you they don't do anything "fake". Just because it's not 100% identical to a police charger that you might have seen, doesn't mean it's not one....
Policeman, that has to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Just because it's not marked doesn't mean its not a police car. Our PD has a Ford explorer that doesn't have black rims. It does have lights mounted to the headliner just like the charger. the point of it is so that people think it is a normal car and not a police car. You ever heard of the word stealth and slicktop? It COULD very well be a police car. You have no right to say that this company made a fake police car.
i dont think he has. but then again. different areas of the country have different setups. this car could go either way. but its a good point of it being "undercover" you dont want ppl noticing it.
I guess the flashing red and new lights also the front license plate. If some pulls you over its good to ask for an officer ID number and to see a badge other wise just drive to the police station.
I can believe it > I outran one in my Probe GT 2.5l and my grand marquis 4.6l ( wouldn't have gotten away though if he would not have had to turn around)
Explain to me how a charger is better than a crown vic...lets hear it? The chargers are much smoother, faster, safer and handle alot better than a crown vic.
I LIKE HOW THE WINDOWS ARE TINTED IN FRONT.. i just got a ticket for that the other day and now i see a po po car with them done too? whats up with that?
I don't think it just the NYSP cause in suffolk county the marked cars are the one doing most of the traffic stops, I rarely see a unmarked car and same with NYPD usually a unmarked car=detective or city wide anti crime unit and they don't really care about traffic violations.
Like I said, any other restrictions are by departmental/local gov't policy. Albany PD routinely uses unmarked vehicles for traffic details, for example. There is no state law prohibiting the use of unmarked vehicles for "routine" traffic stops.
What's wrong with our law enforcement paying 23K for crown vics? Why do they feel the need to waste our money on more expensive, unibody, sports sedans?
Don't get me wrong- I like Chargers... when they are black with two doors and ripping up San Francisco. Do they still make those?
What city purchasing representative would tell anyone otherwise? Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your comment. However, it would be hard to explain how a vehicle that has not been substantially redesigned in 15 years could be matched in fleet price by a completely new unibody design that has active steering and shares parts with a mercedes s-class. It's just impossible.
I said your cousin was led to believe that. I am sure
he states what he believes to be the truth, as told to him, or shown to him on a piece of paper. The point I am making is that almost never do you find a city representative in charge of spending taxpayer money who tells the full truth about how much is being spent.
